    Got upcoming trips to Singapore in March and Melbourne in May that I haven't got accommodation for yet. Will this likely be a better option than just booking with Expedia or something?

      It usually is I've found. Even if you have a coupon code for Expedia which usually maxes out at 10%.

      Do check out Orbitz though as it will work out cheaper provided you go through Ebates cashback.

          @uder: How does it work out % wise? I estimate Hotels.com rewards as worth approx 7 - 8% (Can't be exact as it depends on the price of the hotel that you book once you have 10 reward nights) Using discount codes usually stops you from accumulating reward nights at hotels.com though.

          @Peck: 3% from memory. 5% using the app but then no cashback from ebates. I used to use Cheaptickets when they regularly had 20% off codes but this is now often better.

      Cheaptickets and orbitz and several other travel sites are owned by expedia and use the same booking system backend. If you don't have a promo code for expedia, this deal will be better than directly booking from expedia. They do keep rates slightly different on each website to make customers feel that they are getting a good deal.

      Yep that can be a big difference if you are booking an expensive/longer stay.

    I think you'll find 28 Degrees Master Card has consistently better exchange rates than Citi and the same no fee OS transactions. ALSO, and perhaps much more importantly, for a moderate price reduction with CheapTickets their cancellation terms can be punitive. I had to cancel a trip to Canada weeks in advance and that would have been OK with Booking.com however the CheapTickets deadline was SIX WEEKS before the trip and I lost 100% of what I'd paid .. :-( .. !!

      I just checked one of my bookings and it has a cancellation deadline of TWO WEEKS.
      And then I searched another hotel and it had a cancellation deadline of ONE WEEK before check in.
      And so it looks like it varies a lot.
      But thanks for the tip. It is well worth keeping an eye on.

    This is doing my head in. You get to the section where you enter your card details, and there's a 'complete booking' button, but I can't find a box for entering a coupon code.
