Great for boiling water without burning it. Good for cooking Mi Goreng Instant Noodles. Decent for subtlety steaming an envelope open. Awesome for making a cuppa to get rid of the wife's headache. Cuppa Soup has no chance against this masterpiece. Marvellous for melting ice. Okay for instant coffee if that's your bag. Parent of the year for making the kids a hot chocolate and keeping them quiet for two minutes. Dreadful for making rice. Enjoy and relax, you deserve it. Awww shucks, you're too kind.

    TL;DR

    It boils water

    • +11

But it does it so elegantly. Like Cinderella at Bilo

Great for boiling water without burning it.

    How do you burn water?
What do you throw on it to stop it burning - water?

      • +1

Saw that & Can you burn water? - answer no😢

Plenty of spurious claims & videos. But Mr Google just isn't helping find the answer this deal poses - how can I set fire to water.

        • +4

          Infidel

        • -1

Yes you can but we need a kettle that can transmit radio wave.

        • +2

          @Yummy:
Read that earlier - special case with salt water only - splitting it into H & O components & igniting together. That takes a lot of energy, but less than the alternative process of hydrolysis. It does "burn" - in the test tube.

But its NOT (salt) water burning but its components in it. So the answer is still no - you can't burn water.

If you read the full article, it is just referred to as "burning water" as a simple way to explain the process.

The article headline is basically just click bait to get your attention. Still interesting if you're into industrial desalination or using hydrogen as a fuel - at a theoretical lower price.

Similar to water from fracking areas may ignite - but it's the gas which has ignited, not the water. Looks like the water is burning & referred to as burning water in the videos.

A bit like at high school when the science teacher put electricity into the (probably salt) water & produced O & H at the different electrodes - demonstrating their different properties when lit. The technique of hydrolysis. Gases ignite, not the water.

Still not at the level of this kettle that burns water😀

          Good luck with the experiments😯

        • @Infidel:
You clearly missed the joke in the post

        • @Omitsuki:
No. I just ran with it, but not well written like this deal.

You think I really want to set fire to water as I wrote above? (With my username, it is sometimes incorrectly associated with terrorism rather than its original meaning.)

But could water be said to burn? Interestingly it's a topic online. I had fun, but I think some do believe you can "burn" water, so challenged that.

"Honest Marketing" was well written with tongue in cheek - the humour in the deal description could have been missed. Loved it.

I saw coke scales for sale on Facebook. The description said "good for weighing baby birds". Was a crackup.

    • Showing in stock in store near me in Brisbane.

      • I can't even get as far as putting in a location, as soon as I go to the page a pop up box comes up which says "This item is currently out of stock".

So, sorry, if I was wrong.

        • No soup kettle for you😀
Shows in stock at only 1 of 8 Brisbane stores on Android phone.
Otherwise shows available online + $5.95 delivery.

  • tried searching for more info on this kettle but couldn't really get much detail. Is it stainless steel throughout? Any plastic on inside of kettle? Don't want to boil my water with plastic.

    • Uncertain. I'd like to say stainless stain, but that would be hearsay

      • yeah, I can't find anything online that gives this sort of detail. I'll pass.

  • …can i warm up my custard in this?

    • +4

I don't see why not, it's got keep warm too. Great for deserts at a dinner party. Groovy as a gravy warmer. With the set temperature controls from 10-100 degrees you can't go wrong*.

*check your smoke alarms are working

  • No stock near Melbourne

Seems better priced than the Kogan one?

    • Seems to be.

  • saw that last week online. several other items from this brand are heavily discounted from RRP in HN. thought it might be some cool brand as RRP $149 for a kettle. It better be damn good as price is top of the range. could not goggle info except for sale at Harvey Norman. $49 is more realistic - good to have temp control but a bit worry about warranty on clearance items of an unknown brand.

  • +21

This kettle is also really good at keeping water at room temperature while not in use.

    • +2

      That's fantastic! Saves power too.

      • +3

Only if not left on standby =)

  • "Wow, we're totally maxed out at this very moment."

  • +1

Looks pretty similar to the Bellini kettle ($49)) I bought at Target last year, going well and I really like it what for not burning myself on too hot coffee etc and much cheaper than the Sumbeam cafe series I'd been looking at for ages. ONLY thing I dislike about the Bellini kettle is that you have to press/hold the power button for about 5 seconds to turn it on. Doesn't sound like much but gets pretty annoying if you have to do it 2 or 3 times because your finger slips off or you didn't apply enough pressure.

    https://www.target.com.au/p/bellini-digital-kettle-btk615/50…

Edit: the Bellini has no plastic inside and flat bottom for easy cleaning

      • obviously struck a cord with some! Glad to see some good humoured people

  • +2

So really, this is just an overpriced kettle marked down to $50. Which may still be overpriced.

  • +7

    I prefer my analogue kettle

  • Is this stainless steel? Also any reviews of this product rather than the suspicious review with five stars in HN website

  • +2

super dooper limited stock, in Vic it's in Broadmeadows.

  • +1

Mate you nailed it. That's exactly what I use my pre existing kettle for - speeding the boiling water up to cook mi goring.

  • Isn't Targets similar product at a similar price too. Me wonders.

    • +1

Slightly different design and specs, but would be a good choice.

  • You can boil water by changing the pressure …

    • high altitude or add salt

      • Kudo, high altitude or replipca the vaccum of space. At least one person know it

  • +1

    Orchid colour only $39.

    Stock at Midlands, WA.

  • Does it sing well, in tune?

    • Like a cross between Adele and Dido

  • +1

If you're not too fussed about the colour, the Orchid colour shows up as $39.00

  • +1

theres a range of trent & steele products half price or more, kettles toasters, blenders etc, should add it to your post
eg: Trent & Steele Nutritional Blender 1000w $49

    • +1

      Amazing. Added to post, cheers.

  • The purple ("orchid") coloured model appears to only be $39 now.

Great price for a adjustable temperature kettle IMO. Great if you're in to tea.

    • Thanks, also a great price if tea is into you. Some tea doesn't agree with people.

    • Perfect when you get asked "is there any tea on this spaceship?"

    Great description +1
Item hard to find but I may need to travel further abroad to get one, which I don't need or want, but thats not why we're here huh!

  • I boiled my water, after realing that my gas price is fixed every day HAHAHA!

    • Your gas price always fixed has been?
      Boiled water you have.

  • This deal is too HOT to pass up!

  • Damn, the only products I am interested in (in that range) are not on clearance! And I don't need another $50 digital kettle after the last amazing Electrolux kettle deal :)

    • Electrolux already died, was great tho

      • +1

Oh serious already?! Damn! At least it has 2 year warranty. The only bad thing about mine is the damn loud beeps.. and the loudest is when you turn it off manually… grrr!

        • my wife solves this problem buy simply lifting up the kettle instead of pressing the start/stop button. no sound and everything just cancels

  • Cannot say it's an op, more than, at least, 3 yrs ago I bought one even cheaper than it but different brand, only same thing is both are "unknown" brand. Therefore I guess it was overpriced or even still now.

    • Where can I get the one you bought?

      • The drugs* or the kettle?

*or night owl ability if typing coherently at 8am is hard.

  • +1

Yes, but a kettle from Kmart will set you back $7.50…

    • +1

Yes, but then you have to stop it manually - slightly before it boils at 100C - if you want to enjoy your bev/cuppa/soup faster unless your mouth is immune to burns.

      • Add cold water from the tap until it's at the desired temperature.

  • +2

will it deliver and pick up my child from kindergarten?

    • +2

If you're into robotics and have tonnes of free time on the weekend, sure.

But be wary it is hot tempered.

  • I went there and noticed it's $39 now.

    • Looks to be out of stock online now, unable to choose a colour.

  • Does anyone have anything from this brand and can vouch for them? There's a few other kettles that look ok and around the same price range (from clearance link provided).

  • My order still processing and I heard nothing from them..Anyone got it yet?
