  • Monitor any good for gaming? Have a 960 gtx. Looking to upgrade from a 24' BenQ bought in 2009.

    • +6

Not with that GPU unless you like 30fps and less.

      • +1

would an OC 1070 be able to handle it?

        • +1

on low details perhaps… 1080 would be your best best for those kinds of resolutions

        • +3

On the most demanding games, nope. Not unless you turned down a few things(there isn't as much need for AA at that res). UHD is 1080/titan territory for stable 60fps.

        • +1

@philmarcracken: is it still worth considering at that price? need a screen replacement asap :(

        • @Lord_Sif: Never mistake price with value. If your current screen isn't IPS id go with a 1080p 144hz screen, if it is IPS then a 1080p IPS 60hz.

I'll always want stable fps at high detail over higher resolutions.

        • I use a 1070 with my ultrawide 3440 x 1440, I get up to 60 fps with some drops on high end games like Witcher 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider.

My guess is it won't work well on the 4k screen. Give it a year or two and my 1070 will start dropping settings on AAAs I'm sure.

High resolution is a trade off, I would stick to a 27" 1440p screen with a 1070, or an ultrawide if you don't mind lowering some settings.

        • +1

Even OC 1080 have hard time to keep consistant 60 fps with everything maxed. TitanX pacal might be the choice for 4K gaming. Anyway, if gaming is the priority, I would look for 1440P 100Hhz or 1080P 144Hz monitor instead.

Gaming on 4k is a pipe dream unless you have a very high end system. I'd just avoid it, its not worth the outrageous system expense.

I game in 4K no issue with my i7 4960X and 1080 Strix. I get around ~120fps in Heroes of the Storm, drops to maybe ~85fps in super intense team fights. Extremely beautiful experience in 4K as the game has very nice art (:

        • what do you get in bf1?

        • +1

An i7 and a 1080 is what I'd call a high end system.

Of course, you can game in 4k on it but in Australian money thats likely a $2500 tower if not more.

Is that really worth the price upgrade when you can build a 1080P gaming system that gets similar if not better frame rates for $1000? Hell, you can put together a competent tower for $600 that would play most AAA titles at 1080P no worries.

        • +1

Heroes of the Storm is very different to something like Witcher 3 or really any modern AAA when it comes to graphics though. Some games will be fine but the majority will struggle even with a high end card.

        • +1

Try AAA game like Witcher 3, the new total war or the 4 years old GTA V. I have 7700K and Gigabyte Xtreme 1080, and its still a pain in the ass to for Max out 4K gaming.

    • Resolution scaling also works most of the time with oddities here and there when using a 4k screen. i.e. menus on desktop, icon size, window size and it's scaling.

      I switched from a 24" 1920x1200 to a 27" 4k then to a 30" ultrawide because the scaling on W10 was a hit and miss.

      • For scaling purposes in Windows, you don't really want to go under 32" with a 4K/UHD panel

        • +1

Sure if you aren't using Windows 10

  • Does Bing Lee have any ultrawide monitors on their sale?

    • +1

      Take a squiz.

  • Is the screen 4K? Any issue with the screen?

    • +1

Yep 4k, issues could be scaling on Windows and gaming at 4k (unless you've got a hefty rig). I've been keen on this monitor for a while and have read/watched plenty of reviews and the overall consensus is that it's a great monitor for the price, although 27" may be on the smaller side for a 4k monitor.

      • Thanks. Do you think the price can go lower for another promo?

        • The lowest I've seen it is $399 (plus postage) during the Boxing Day sales, I think it was Shopping Express although they had limited quantities. Futu had it for $468 delivered recently so this price isn't bad. I can't see it going below $400 again for a while but hard to say. I hope so as I'm still on the fence about it (just not sure if 27" is big enough for 4k) and a sub-400 price point would tip me over into insta-buy territory.

        • @PDeez: Thanks. Think I will wait for $400 :-)

  • 4K screen on laptop monitor, its only worthwhile when I build 3D models.

For everything else 1080p is preferable as Windows 10 scales poorly and gaming is too demanding at 4K, especially with laptop GPU.

    • Windows 10 scaling has been fixed.
I have a Sony 43x8000d and Acer 28" 4k monitor and an Asus 27" 1080p monitor all hooked up together with per display scaling preferences and it works fine (:
When I first switched to Windows 10 this setup was actually not possible due to scaling being over all screens.

    • Scaling seems fine on my Windows 10 computer. I do have a larger (40") screen though, but 175% and 200% work alright and everything looks nice and crisp.

    • Scaling is fine for me. I have smaller devices with high pixel density, and most things look fine.

  • Perfect monitor for PS4 Pro. I have the 27UD68 which is virtually the same monitor.

  • Looks like the LG monitor is out of stock:
This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available.

  • MSY has got cheaper price then this.!!

    • I can't see any LG UHD (3840x2160) monitor sold at MSY. Can you point it out? So I can update the post.
