  • I Clicked on the banner and it says 9am

    • Oh well…it has been changed again then….updated my post. Thanks

  • Referral code exhausted - anyone got another?

  • 8:59am cant even get on the site lol

  • Well it's 9am and where's the NES?

    • I believe they are only releasing items on an hourly basis. If the NES isn't up currently, it might be up at 10am. If not, keep checking back. They stop releasing new items at 7PM

      • -3

Spot on! New items up hourly up until 7pm AEDT. Our product team are keeping it a secret - we don't even know what time it goes up.

        • +1

          Hi,

Do new products go online on the hour, ie. at 10am, 11am, 12pm, etc.?

        • -5

@BargainJunkie: Correct. The products will go up on the hour.

        • @CatchoftheDay: Thanks for the reply. Can you make it not around lunch time? It's Wednesday and the last day of work for me. I'd like to enjoy my lunch instead of stressing over whether I missed the NES Classic Mini XD

        • +4

          @CatchoftheDay:

Correct. The products will go up on the hour.

The Nintendo did NOT go up on the hour - it was posted AFTER the hour as "Sold Out"

I took a "screen print" on the hour and it was NOT there, and yet all the other 6pm items were there.

Dishonest behaviour is not a great way to win over new customers, or keep existing ones…

        • +2

@oz-dave: I'm going to black list these scammers.

I think everyone should do the same.
We shouldn't condone this kind of behaviour.

        • +2

          @CatchoftheDay:

rubbish never went up at 6pm then all of a sudden it appeared sold out

        • +2

          @CatchoftheDay:
Doing an "hourly sales" to get people keep checking on the website, and yes the nintendo (which is the main focus of the sale) didnt come on the hour.
When it came out after hour, it is already sold out.

        • @oz-dave:
Good on you. I suggest you take the proof to ACCC and report this bait advertising.

        • @knight003:

I just phoned COTD, and the phone staff are being instructed to say the Nintendo went live at 6pm, and sold out in 2 minutes.

After I explained that I had a screen print that showed otherwise, and that numerous other people online were stating that they had the same experience as me, the person still tried to insist that it appeared on the site at 6pm with all the other items. I then asked the person "Are you saying I am liar?", and the silence was long and awkward :p

(I understand the call centre staff in the Philippines are NOT to blame, but hopefully the more people that call, the more it will feed back to the Australians responsible for this)

The phone number is 1300-222-824 - The fact that it is hard to find, is perhaps telling…

        • @oz-dave: It never showed up at 6pm and when I checked at 6:55pm it was out of stock.

        • @oz-dave: i got one and can confirm that it went up on the hour to the exact second. I used the app.

        • +1

          @haggertm:

Meanwhile, for those who used the website, it did NOT appear on the hour…

And even some who used the app seem to have had problems, according to the comments.

It should have been promoted as a "competition of chance" for those who were using the app, it appears as though it was never actually offered on the website.

        • +1

@oz-dave: yeah when i clicked on it, it saod something along the lines of - this product is unavailable. So I clicked the ok button then clicked on it again about 20 times before it got to the screen where i could put it in my cart. Then by the time i pressed 2 more buttons to pay (address and payment details were pre populated), it was sold out. Probably up for about 15 seconds on the app.

Guessing the nes will be later on in the day. Grrrrrrrr

  • Been refreshing and searching on the website 12 mins straight since 9am… no sign of the Mini NES :( Hmm…

EDIT: My bad, brands released on the hour… shall keep checking!

  • Well thank goodness .. Only just saw that the time changed from 10am to 9am and thought oh sh*t there goes that idea..

  • awesome fun…. for 5 mins..

ubcool must have a short attention span…

I really like mine! I've been having a blast playing Ninja Gaiden recently.

        • it soons gets old again, there is a reason people sold their old game consoles , they got bored of them, and you will again very quickly.

      • no im saying just dont get your hopes up, nostalgia is a funny game

  • +1

well let me guess… Nintendo mini will be near the end of the day, to keep people looking.

    https://ebgames.com.au/wiiu-217390-Nintendo-Classic-Mini-NES…

EB Games has it back in stock but charges shipping (in case you miss the COTD deal)

    • +1

Cheers, got tired of waiting for COTD even though EB adds postage, their loss .. although they won't have any problems selling out.

    • Is there a way to get some kind of notification for when EB Games get stock in for the mini NES or did you discover it by luck? Both times they've gotten them in now I've completely missed out :(

      • would like to know this as well.. thks

        • I don't think so. I was just browsing their website and found it.

  • Cheers! Got one from EB

Now seems to be sold out….

  • I cannot see it on COTD anyone got a direct link?

    • Apparently they're rolling out sale items hourly .. so you just have to keep checking back I suppose.. Could be as late as 6pm.

  • Still nothing at 2pm as well.

    • +1

Damn I wished I didn't miss out when EB listed it. There goes another 2 hours of my life, wasted on CotD just so they get inflate their website impression numbers.

  • Will there be a Max qty ?

    • 180 in total. 1 per person (account).

      • /goes to get more accounts :)

  • +5

It's going to be the last one for sure.

  • +4

4pm was a dud. Maybe 5pm to limit traffic as people will be in transit

  • Are we there yet???

    • +2

Nope, will be the very last product.

  • +2

6 mins to go on the Bonds Briefs 3 pack. Get in quick :P

    • +2

Stay strong my friend. Don't give into them stringing us along to buy their other 'quality'… goods

      • Must resist

  • wtf, sold out in less than 1 minute?

It was sold out before it was available to add to cart/shown on screen… shame

false advertising of '180' in stock

  • +4

lol sold out in 1 second? if we didnt know it was a scam website .. now we know.. SCAM of the DAY

  • Sold out..

  • Gone.

  • wow! Speechless~

  • +2

Sold out in basically a second, absolute joke lol

  • What a crock of sh pathetic never again

To make worse they listed it slight after 6:00:00pm just enough for me to navigate between new and consoles and missing the opportunity

  • +1

It appeared on their mobile app first. Thanks, got one!

  • Anyone successfully got one? Or it's just a scam?

    • +1
    • I got one. I was using the app and it appeares on the dot. I had to select it about 20 times before i could successfully get it in my cart.

  • +1

That is BS… No way it could sell out that fast - within a minute haha

  • +1

Oh wow, what BULLSHIT. I was on it from 5:48pm, pages were loading fine the Mini Nes wasn't even available. Wasn't on the 'nintendo' results search. Wasn't on the 'NEW' section. And then I refresh and it's Sold Out? Catch of the Day, I hope you have a good response for this.

  • what happen??????????????????
please remove to cancel the membership.

  • Looks like mobile app had a win here, it was in cart before it was even appearing on the website.

  • how do you know it's sold out ? i can't see it anywhere

  • +1

Clicked add to cart - when to buy and it removed itself , in 5 secs all 180 units sold out - that's crap .

  • +11

It didn't appear until I refreshed to see it sold out. Wasn't even available. Reporting CotD to Fair Trading.

You guys better have a list of the 180 people that bought it and the time that they were bought ready. What a bunch of crooks.

    • I totally agree. If we don't report CotD to Fair Trading they will just do it again in 6 months.

    • I got one. It went up on the app at 6 aest on the dot.

  • +7

Are you frigging kidding me cotd, all day refreshing and waiting and it's sold out before it even appears.

Never again will I shop with you.

  • +5

Added to cart at 6:00pm on mobile app, and pop up appears saying it's no longer available.. that's bs :/

  • +2

Didn't even show on the main website for me… just refreshed again now and sold out… lighting dock and wine glass only at 6pm.

On the plus side website stayed up.

  • +5

    No way was there 180

    • +2

Obviously. There probably wsnt even 1.

  • +5

Lol yeah…not keeping that membership with shoddy shit like that. It advertised on the hour, it didn't advertise preference to a mobile app, wtf is that shit?

You have to wonder what exactly their trying to achieve with shit like that except dragging their name through the mud? I was kind of thinking this membership was a good deal looking around the site but (profanity) that jazz. Never again CotD. Give everyone a fair chance or don't waste our time.

  • +3

Sigh, COTD at it again with the BS. What a waste of time, I should have known better.

  • +3

Bunch of low life's. Hope they get reported for their dodgy tactics.

To everyone - dont forget to cancel the club catch membership!!!!

Well done to those who got the EB ones listed this morning. At least that was available for a good 10+ mins

  • Uh oh… I have a PayPal receipt but nothing is in my order history. They just took $99 from me!

    • Exactly the same as my case. I've had a chat with CoTD and they didn't find out my order too. Sent a screenshot of the transaction to them, said they will send to their payment department to have a look and get order detail. However, it doesn't mean the order has made successfully.

      • +1

That's because they have 0 stock to fulfil your order.

      • +1

So even the people who managed to order and pay might not actually get one, that really does sound like a bait advertising scam…

  • So did anyone actually scored one?

I am on the edge of nervous breakdown, refreshing every hour. Can i sue COTD for PTSD????

    • Yes, it came up as sold out on the mobile app for me a few seconds after 6:00pm, but I thought just for the sake of it to keep trying and after I kept refreshing and clicking add to cart and dismissing the sold out pop up dialogue box, it went into my shopping cart and I was able to check out successfully. I checked and it's in my order history and have received a confirmation email saying it will be delivered by early February at the latest.

Oh and just in case this would interest anyone I decided to go back to the NES Mini product page and saw that there were under 5 units remaining and then it was fully sold out to the point where you couldn't even add the product to your cart anymore. All this took place in the span of about 30 to 40 seconds.

  • Its a pretty dreaful console tbh
lots of lag and movement issues even on a good monitor / tv
not worth the 99 when you can do the same if not better with retropi

  • +5

Spoke to customer service, She said it sold out in under 2 minutes and they are getting hundreds of complaints.

She also said it was limited to one per account/customer.

It's really not a good look either way.

    • It was a massive mistake to wait to the end (so everyone spent all day waiting) and then got denied
    • The mobile app probably did get updated first which didn't help.

I thought under the ACCC isn't a big no no to advertise something you don't have stock of but I'm not expert.

Anyway, sucks but not much we can do about it now except all cancel our accounts lol.

    • Hope they are getting thousand of complaints for this misleading and completely fake offer. It sold out in 1 second, to be precisely. Completely agree with your opinion.

      • Generally it is wrong to not have sufficient stock of a sale item, but Catch of the Day did prominantley display a sign on the banner ad for the Mini NES stating that they had 180 units in stock.

  • ABSOLUTE BS SCAM!! SOLD OUT WITHOUT BEING ANY IN STOCK

  • How do i cancel or close my account?????????

  • Payment has made but it didn't appear on My Orders. Order made @ 6:01pm LOL

  • I knew this is going to happen.

If EB and JB can't even get their hands on new stock, what makes you think COTD can get 180?

This is blatant click bait and possibly an exercise to collect personal information from people who signed up just for this deal.
Guess what they will do with a fresh list of personal details? Take a guess.

I refreshed my App for 10 mins after they released the 6PM deals and didn't see any NES classic.
Then suddenly it appears as "sold out"?

Let's be realistic here, they never had the stock.
Even if they did, they probably had 1 or 2 in their inventory.
But they will probably make thousands from selling our personal info to the right bidder.

The GoPRO Hero 5 was probably the 1st click bait just to keep us hanging.

  • Looks like people forgot about the famous COTD birthday anniversary.

    Shouldn't be surprised.

    • Remind us, please

      • Every COTD birthday has been about flash sales. Issues were:

        • Questionable stock levels.
        • Website going down.

I remember getting lucky and scoring an iPad mini for $150 about 3 years ago.

  • I can't believe there are still 60 plus votes, and only 9 negative votes, for such blatantly dishonest behaviour…

  • again i refreshed every hour, didnt see it then all of a sudden appeared and said sold out. What a crock.

  • What a joke. No way these guys had 180 units, refreshed right before 6pm and it was already sold out.
