Further Info/Tips

There are two "tricks" that can be extremely beneficial as there is a common trend experienced by 7-Eleven App users: 1) If you receive an error processing your credit/debit card, you can purchase a 7-Eleven Gift Card in-store and apply the credits instantly onto the App. 2) You do not need to use the funds on your App to pay for the fuel, you can lock-in the price and pay via Cash or Card at the checkout saving the hassle of constantly topping up, gift cards, etc.

Master131 spends a lot of time creating and maintaining the script at Project Zero Three that we all know and love.

    • Just login from their 7 eleven account and Lock the price .Then logout the lock price will show you parents 7 eleven app.

    • I'm surprised they even care. It's a photo of the discount what makes them not accept it ?
"My girlfriend locked the price in for me on her phone and sent it to me because the app isn't working on my phone anymore"
      I'm sure they wouldn't be a d*ck after that.

      • I am not aware of any 98 from 7-Eleven that is that cheap. You can cross reference with 8-Twelve. Might have better luck with a local servo (use an app like GasBuddy) or FuelWatch if it's available in your state.

      • You won't find that. TGP price is around 1.29c in the capital cities.

      • +8

Hahaha…Why stop at 1.05? Why not 50 cents? Or free? Muppet.

  • My local Woolies has jumped to $1.499 for U91.

    Clayton. VIC.

Might be worth to start locking in before they all jump.

    • Oh I'm in Clayton too lol

Obviously there is no way I can check if the same people are involved, but I find it amusing that the overwhelming majority of the OZB community ripped into the Swiss guy for doing the right thing, but expected a reward due to his culture/upbringing (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/354557), but many are happy to take advantage of this extremely dubious loophole which is against the conditions of the app, and probably borderline illegal.

Ripping off a company is acceptable, but a fellow "human" is not I suppose? I guess everyone has their own moral compass.

I know people feel like petrol companies rip us off and it may be true, but two wrongs don't make a right.

Not that I'm an angel by any measure.

    • +4

It's against the TOS but hardly "borderline illegal".
Inmate: Hey what are you in here for?
Me: I faked my location to save on fuel.

      • -1

Wouldn't it fall under "Obtain Financial Advantage By Deception"?

        • +1

You're right. There's no denying that faking your location is against the TOS, and against what the app was intended to do. Irrespective of how people try to defend their actions, it's sometimes harder to admit facts. This includes myself.

That being said, the link you provided is a different issue. Irrespective of what that person has experienced in his culture or upbringing, it's essentially asking for a reward for being a decent human being. This is probably what most people were getting at.

With 7/11 one could argue that it means more people frequent 7/11 against woolies/coles/BP, leading to increased sales from other items in store (and app offers). Not that I'm using this as an example to justify what I am doing.

    • +4

Hardly ripping off the company when you're not even paying less than the cheapest available price. If anything, the company would be happy that you're using the app, depositing money into their account up front, and potentially buying more products in store. Its Win Win

      • That's one way to look at it ha

    • I won't go into details but if you think about it, it wouldn't be hard for them to detect you spoofing your location and stop you using fuel lock.

      • Agree, but beside the point.

  • +5

I hardly ever went to 7/11 for fuel before this….I probably wouldn't go if they somehow stopped it. Even with the lowest 7/11 price available in Australia, there are still other places which are sometimes cheaper. It's convenient that I have one a few hundred metres from where I live.

    • +1

Agree, 7-Eleven are doing OK out of this. Just think about all the millions of dollars they have from people depositing funds in the app. They would be making a decent return on this in short term money markets that only the big boys can play in. I have two accounts with $100 deposited in each. I never use it to pay for fuel, just leave it there so I can lock in fuel prices. Say they have 100,000 people using the app, and each has $100 in the app, that is $10 million that 7-Eleven have to play with. Even just putting that in a term deposit at 4% is $400,000 a year.

      • They can save more if they have loans to offset as well. They currently have 700,000 users though. I reckon this app has taken massive marketshare away from BP/Woolies so they may not even care about the losses if they can stall BP/Woolie's sale of their stations.

  • Finally getting into the price lock party but spent about an hour trying to location lock the cheapest fuel (the enterance nsw atm).
    I'm on an oppo f1s.
Downloaded fakegps free app. Locked The Enterance as location (enabled developer mode and allowed mock locations).
Opened 7/11 app, got the disable mock locations error.
Unselected allow mock locations in developer mode.
Reopen 7/11 app but continues to go back to real location rather than fake GPS location.
Tried different combinations but still same result :( although once it looked to work but now can't replicate it.
    Please help if u can.

      • Thanks I followed those steps (but using color-os) it's a little different. Tried about 20 different combinations and finally got it working, although can't recall exactly what I did to get it working lol.

The accuracy column is an excellent idea. Great work.

@Nuggets, any chance you could look at integrating that into your script?

      • +1

8-Twelve already makes a distinction between state-sourced data (W/N which is WA and NSW) and crowd-sourced data (Q/V/A which is QLD/VIC/ACT). I just added 2 crowd-sourced data sets into my script :)

        • Yes, I use Nuggets' script more than I'd care to admit. It's great. Seeing the accuracy column makes me think it would be a great addition to the script.

    • Thanks! Just locked in some 98

    • Damn missed out on the cheap 98

  • Hey all, I have two cars one I fill with pulp, the other regular. Can I price lock two sets of fuel?

    • Not on the one app unfortunately
Get a cheap second chinadroid for this purpose

    • +1

Not at the same time in the same account. You would need to have two different accounts. But can be achieved by either logging out and logging in to a new account.

There is probably some other way to run two separate instances of the application at the same time on the same phone. Someone mentioned previously about using a secure box or something on a Samsung to run the app separately. Probably other third party solutions too.

  • 8-Twelve says U91 is $0.52, 95 is $0.64 and 98 is $0.70 at Redland Bay. Can someone check if it's working on the app? Those are the dream prices!

    • nope, cheapest in that area was 120.9 or so

      • 142.9 in Redland bay for 98

        • 136.4 Deception Bay, Qld is cheapest for 98 at the moment

  • Accidentally locked in U95 (there are no U95 bowsers near me) instead of U98. Does anyone know how to cancel a fuel lock? Or is it not possible? Thanks.

    • You have to wait till it expires.

    • or sent it to a friend up use up (via screenshot) - you'll also be doing them a favour

      • Disclaimer some comments above re screenshots being rejected

Go and load 1lt P95 and scan voucher and it will be expired with single use and then lock P98.

        • @b2dz: Run the scrape just a few times a day and it should be okay.

        • +5

@b2dz: I am considering opting with a compromise which will only verify that the best few prices (via crowdsourcing) are correct with 7-Eleven to avoid scraping all the stores.

        • +1

          @master131: Great idea!

        • @master131: But it may not or be slow to pick up those sudden prices drops of U98 to U91 prices.

If they employed anyone to look at logs and data they would have shut us down ages ago!

Pay for IT or pay the crap-systems tax!

        • -1

As some of our members have only just started using this technique to get the data, this wouldn't have been "shut down ages ago".

They would absolutely know about this forum, seeing as it is the top result in Google when searching for "7-11 spoof GPS".

Again, don't bite the hand that feeds you.

        • +1

          @b2dz:

Nope. If they haven't noticed people getting 35c/litre discount upon travelling from WA to NSW in 5 minutes they are choosing to pay no attention. They aren't suddenly going to analyse http access logs if they don't analyse and act on sales and discount data!

        • @factor:

You could be right, in which case we will use this process with slightly more accuracy.

You could be wrong, and they either close the loophole and we lose it altogether, or severely restrict it.

As we are scraping their servers and posting their data, (rather than government data available to us via the 8-12 script) it becomes legally complex, rather than someone changing a setting on their own smartphone.

  • +13

For those of you who have trouble getting it to work on your phone or don't want to fiddle around with it, download an android emulator on PC called nox. Nox has an inbuilt function which allows you to set your location. Eliminating the need to install a dedicated spoofing apps. I've had no problems locking in with it so far.

    • Same here

    • Does the app run on nox? I tried an emulator months ago couldn't get it to install.

      • Should be fine. I didn't do anything to the emulator, i just installed it and opened the app and off i went

    • @Butt Scratcher
Is PC Nox this or that?

      • +1

Idk about the 2nd one, but I'm fairly certain I downloaded mine from the first link (big nox)

    • I tried this method (as I couldn't lock in fake GPS on my phone after about 30 goes at it) . I've selected the area as a virtual location but the 7/11 app still says it can't locate my location. Any ideas? Using bignox program that is linked below.

Ignore. Logged in again once it's installed and it's works. Cheers!

  • hi: Has anyone experienced google map navigation issue on Android phone after enable gps mock location and fuel lock?

after the fuel lock, with gps mock setting revert back to nothing. My google map is able locate my current location, but unable to do real time navigation. During navigation, There is blue circle indicating my current location that only updates every few minutes or so. I have tried re-enable te GPS and google location service with no luck :/

I now lock on my S5. And use vouchers on my S8 logged into my 711account.

Has anyone tried transferring 711 credit to a 711gift card?

IE: I already have one account with $100credit. Can I lock a voucher with account A, then transfer funds to another account using a gift card? (Maybe a possible loop for multiple accounts?)
I'd like the opportunity of locking on multiple accounts using only 1x $100.

    • I think not possible. The card number in the APP does not have a 4-digit PIN which is required when you transfer giftcard balance.
