Anyone know what installation is like for steering wheels?
I don't have a car yet but I'm looking at getting a Lancer in the next few weeks (maybe '04, '05) and i'd love to put a wooden steering wheel in it for a laugh. :)

Indeed. Glad someone here is keeping my head straight :)
tomsco, you can change the steering wheel, but note the following:
Technically, your car will be unroadworthy as it will break an ADR rule that requires passenger cars built after ~2000 to have a driver's side airbag.
Removing a steering wheel with an active airbag can be dangerous. Even if you disconnect the battery the airbags are designed to inflate without power (that 12v lump of lead under your bonnet is one of the first things that gets crushed in a serious accident).
And lastly, why? The airbag is there for a reason. I have an '04 Lancer and wouldn't dream of changing the steering wheel.
