Kathmandu "list"price is a joke that I doubt that many would pay. They have perpetual sales and for me those prices are their real "list"price.

The same can be said about all list prices in Myer an david jones, not necessarily about the perpetual sales.

They look like Scarpa boots I have.

I'm batting about .100 with online shoe purchases- never, ever, ever again. Good luck.

Good price for these hence the +ve. The last time I bought their boots I took them back (friendly, painless experience) because after about 6 wears I had the mid sole (the pale stripe in the picture above) starting to show signs of wear at the Flex point. I would get then again for city use, would not hike in them. Definitely would not pay RRP.

Good price, even accounting for the usual Kathmandu overpriced "list price". I am not going to do hardcore hiking with it anyhow

  • Better off buying a nice pair of work boots (not necessarily steel capped), does the job just fine

Hiking, in places like mountains - your poor feet. I've learnt my lesson - injured a toe & lost a toenail hiking in good work boots. Work boots are designed for a very different use - workplaces.

Lack of proper traction, from well designed (eg Vibram) soles, in slippery or rocky terrain is dangerous. Can lead to terrible injuries😯

[It also can inconvenience others. Arranged the medivac of a person I found injured from wearing inappropriate footwear on a multi-day hike. The Overland Track - not a difficult walk & some people run it in a day. I was last through the section that day, an unseasonal (summer) blizzard was heading in, so she would likely have died that night if no action was taken.]

There can be a high price to pay for poor choice of footwear😯

I have a pair of these babies, which I paid $180 for on sale.
I cannot recommend them enough! 4 years on and they are STILL going great.

    • This is literally the only positive comment on these boots about durability haha. Hopefully I get lucky as you have!

    • I used to buy an earlier version from memory called Haj, from Kathmandu.

I loved them as they were very comfortable and lasted well.

They have done something to the design and narrowed the front I think as I can't get on with the newer versions.

They squash my toes and I end up with bad blisters on my little toes.

Shame as I used to utilise Kathmandu as my go to for footwear.

4 years on and one use later, they are STILL going great

Just an FYI, these shoes are made of Wolverine leather who use pig skin to manufacture leather.

    • yuck

  • How would they compare to some of the similar priced Hi-Tec models from Sports Shoes Outlet eBay?
