    Extra $97 for extra 9"

    Going off a few popups, I hear that's a good deal ;)

(and 4x hdmi vs 3, inbuilt wifi etc)

      Extra $97 for extra 9"

Edit: both are no name products… Pass.

HiSense has slow channel change, EPG only updates when you select a channel and the usual issues that no-band products suffer from.

Hitachi ceased manufacturing in 2012 and like other brands sold off the rights to it's name to anyone that pays.

    from a known electronic brand

HITACHI has pulled the plug on 50 years of TV manufacturing (2012)

Hitachi TVs are imported by TempoAustralia, suppliers of Bauhn trademarked TV to Aldi.

The Hitachi site goes through the Tempo site when clicking on LED TV, & Hitachi page is ©Tempo http://www.hitachi.com.au/products/product-categories/home-e…

These may be rebranded units certainly not produced by Hitachi (but may be designed by them - differing reports online). Tempo has a poor reputation for aftersales service on Whirlpool.

Back in the day (like a long time) hitachi made the best plasma's in the business. Now just rebranded crap

You don't want to deal with the manufacturer's (Tempo's) support. Some of their recent Aldi TVs have non-functioning headphone jacks and they claim it's a 'design feature'.

    • Ah, another 'design feature'. Faults are always undocumented 'design features' at Tempo😢

A Bauhn PVR model would turn on/off seemingly without any cause. The undiagnosed fault was driving some people crazy. Others never saw the problem. Until the problem was shared - we didn't see the cause. You'd be watching TV, (someone turns the light on) & the screen goes black as the PVR turned off…
I finally diagnosed the fault (IR light from CFL or fluro light when turned on - caused the IR remote sensor in PVR to trigger, turning power on/off). At least with that fault, the work around was as easy as replacing light bulbs.

The Tempo rep on a Whirlpool forum for the model had much the same response - it was designed that way. No way they would accept it was a costly to fix design fault. If you're not happy with it take it back to Aldi! On to the next (failed) Bauhn model to sell to the unwary.
Must work great for Tempo but it's terrible for consumers. As Aldi offer refunds (generally rather than repair), contacting consumer bodies is a waste of time as the most they can do is try to get you a refund.

After that, I was approached by Tempo to diagnose faults & improve quality control. But by the time I would be supplied with a pre-production model to review, the units would have already have left China on way to Aldi to meet a specific sales date… I declined the thankless job. I don't buy Tempo products😯

Someone should make a list of all the "brand names" that are actually no longer brand names and post it permanently here on this site.

Not being facetious. It just might help people make better decisions.

If its not Sony, Panasonic, LG or Samsung then there is a good chance it just something rebranded.

      • TCL? Hisense?
