I'd buy one of these in a flash if they supported RAID 1 (mirroring). Its a shame they only allow you to join the 2 drives. I guess they don't want to cannibalise their eTrayz sales.

  • Well the eTrayz is more of a specialised NAS unit where as the Xtreamer PRO is more of a multimedia player. I think Xtreamer prefer to release a product that can do one task very well (i.e media player for the Xtreamer pro and NAS drive for the eTrays) rather than have it try to do everything not very well. I wouldn't purchase the Xtreamer PRO purely as a NAS. Not to say it doesn't do NAS, it's just an added feature of what's meant to be more of a Media Player.

    • Yeah. I understand their logic. I just need both and can't really justify 2 separate devices.

I don't need a full NAS (ie don't need things like BitTorrent, Web Server etc) but would like redundancy.

Its a shame that this product is so close to what I want (ie already has support for 2 drives).

  • looks like a good product, comes with wireless LAN, HDMI… but how about automatic download from torrent?
