Rocketmiles is a travel booking site that allows you to earn thousands of miles whenever you book a hotel through them, which can be converted 1:1 to a huge number of airline schemes. It's typically much more generous than crediting your stay to a hotel scheme, where you would need to spend a whole lot more to accumulate the same number of airline miles.
The site is currently running an offer for 3,000 bonus miles valid with most partners for the first hotel booking using the service until December 30, 2016. This means that you can earn 3,000 bonus miles in addition to the regular miles of 1,000 to 10,000 per night that you earn (even for one night stay) - so you'll end up with a minimum of 4,000 miles from a single night booking.
Note that you simply need to make the booking by December 30, 2016. The actual stay can be as far out in the future as Rocketmiles allows you to book.
A few caveats:
Rocketmiles pricing is not the most competitive out there - cross check prices with other booking sites if getting the cheapest price is more important to you than picking up airline miles.
You do not earn hotel loyalty program qualifying stays/nights for bookings made via Rocketmiles.
However, I'd recommend considering using the site to book 1 night of relatively cheap accommodation to access this deal if you're looking to top up points in an existing account you hold with one of the airline partners, or if you want to start to credit to a new scheme.
Airline Partners:
Airline partners include Singapore Airlines, Etihad Guest, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific Asia Miles and over 30 others, but exclude Qantas and Virgin Australia. Full list on the site.
For those without a particular partner scheme in mind, I would recommend signing up and crediting the points to British Airways Executive Club (Oneworld partner) - BA has a sweetspot for cheap short haul redemptions with Qantas - just 4,500 Avios (points) is enough for a Qantas short haul flight from Adelaide to Melbourne, or Melbourne to Sydney.
Have you used them before? Interesting deal. There's definitely potential in this deal..
