I was looking for cheap air fare post since my boss told us that it is ok to take leave in feb or march next year. Thank you!

      Have a great trip!

      • Thanks! 🙂

I know I keep reminding people every time there is a Cathay deal……remember Cathay allow open jaw tickets. So in Asia you can fly into one city/country and fly out of another city/country in Asia.

For example, last month I flew to Guangzhou, China and flew out of Danang, Vietnam. The price was the same as flying in and out of Guangzhou. So you can potentially save a lot of time/money backtracking for your return flight.

You need to do this in the Cathay website.

    • Did you have any visa trouble going open jaw? I know that on one trip to Vietnam one of my travel companions got held up for hours because he didn't have a return ticket booked for departing out of Vietnam (he planned on travelling through to Thailand on bus and flying home from there).

      • Did you have any visa trouble going open jaw?

I've never had any problems, as long as I have had a return ticket booked from somewhere in Asia. That said, I obtained my Viet Visa in Australia (because I was entering overland). Perhaps your travel companion used Visa On Arrival which can sometimes involve a bit more scrutiny when flying into HMC or HAN.

The picture is irrelevant though, nowhere near those locations

  • are you able to book directly via Cathay Pacific website with these prices ?

    • They have a price guarantee on their website saying if you book with them and find a cheaper price they will refund you the difference or something to that effect.

    The price is normal.

Cathay Pacific is not a budget airline, so this is pretty cheap by their standard

      • arent their planes quite old?

  • Any chance of Melbourne to Dubai late Feb-Early March? Looking to go over for the Dubai International Boat Show if possible.

    • As long as there are planes flying, there's always a chance. With Qantas, a better chance than most others.

  • Anyone know how long the Cathay sale goes for? Can't find in their website…

    Thanks

11:59pm, December 31 (unless sold out prior, of course)

  • What is/are advantage(s) of Cathay over Tiger & Air Asia ?

    • +2

Cathay is a full service airline- great service (I can vouch for that) + meals & 30KG baggage included. While Tiger and Air Asia.. you pay extra for all that.

  • how does cathay pacific planes compare to royal brunei airlines ? there are cheaper flights on rba and shorter flights from melbourne to vietnam on rba.

  • Seeing flights to Delhi too for around $752 via STA- Plenty of departure dates in Mar-Apr.

Can't believe how many people haven't heard of Cathay!

  • $703 return to Hongkong, depart on the 2nd and return on the 18th.

    • This seems expensive but I've only started monitoring HK flights so I'm not too certain. Seen qantas sale fares for <700

      • It was $578 (if my memory serves me right) but I missed it (boss didn't give approval to my leave). This time he said it's ok since the project got postponed, $700ish is still ok for a direct full service flight.
Qantas also have similar pricing for the period, but I haven't tried flying with Cathay yet.

  • Appears that the sale period goes for a while? Checked their website and it's the same price from Brisbane to Ho Chi Minh in March and in June.

  • Will the thick smog be cleared by then?

  • Are Cathay Pacific and Cebu Pacific related?

    • Cathy is owned by Swire (UK company), Cebu is owned by (JG).
One is not a Subsidiary of the other.
Also Cathy Alliance is Oneworld which i know cebu isn't in alliance with, i'd say they'd be prob under value or SkyTeam as a guess

  • Sydney to Copenhagen = $13,800 Return. 100% with BA. Not sure what happened there hehe. Great prices to Asia on the other hand. I may book to tel aviv. Cheers Buddy

  • Anyone know is this the final price or tax and other sorts fee still need to be added?

Booked them yesterday, it's the final price.
