  • Timely! I just broke mine on Sunday when a gust of wind slammed the hood down (bloody old gas strut lift arms). SCA was asking for $4 while Repco wanted $2.50.

You can stop struts closing unexpectedly with this weird old trick: clamp a pair of vice grips on one of the struts.

      • Weird old trick? There's nothing weird about it, its just common sense.

Or, are you poking fun at modern marketing/advertising tricks with such catch words?

Poor attempt at humour. I should be banned from the forums.

@Dalton: You sir… made my day

        • @Dalton:
No need to inconvenience others by getting them to ban you.

Just go headbutt the nearest brick wall.

Also this other weird old trick, it's called a stick.

You can stop struts closing unexpectedly with this weird old trick: clamp a pair of vice grips on one of the struts.

Which, if any idiots here do this, will instantly destroy the polished surface of the strut piston, so the next time you close the bonnet the seals get damaged which kills the strut.

You can stop struts closing unexpectedly with this weird old trick: support the bonnet using a piece of wood, a tree branch, walking stick or other vertical propping device. In emergency situations a small child can also be used, however be cautious because sometimes they can move unexpectedly.

        • But his statement remains true? Once you vicegrip and scuff the struts, the bonnet will no longer close unexpectedly… or at all… ever.

        • True. However, my suggestion was for the person with the old struts. I use vice grips on my wife's car. They work and have not made the old struts any worse in form or function.

Idiots? Brickwalls? What is with you people?!

  • omg they come in assorted colours now \o/

also, check that your funnel comes with a little sieve.

  • Has any member from OzBargain not bought at least one funnel from them by now? lol
