    Thornton still the cheapest. I think Melbourne is about to go up. I've locked in 28L for later this week.

    • Man I wish I could get mine working.

  • +2

    Locked in at 114.7 U91 at Thronton NSW

      Thank you, just locked for this price ^_^

    So has anyone figured out an efficient way of identify the cheapest 8-12 fuel in the entire country?
    I know links have been posted but they're all state-specific (or have I missed something?)

    I myself have looked at the following apps (Android):

    • my nrma app - No filtering options, seems to only show two stations at a time
    • PetrolSpy - Works pretty quickly but is user updated. No filtering for anything except for type of fuel
    • GasBuddy - Allows filtering for both brand and fuel type, but is user updated. This sorts by price by default, but I believe it has some sort of filter for distance as it only shows nearby stations.
    • Fuel Map Australia - Probably the worst of the four (but I also spent the least time with it)

    The best of all of them is probably PetrolSpy due to the speed with which you can zip around from major city to major city comparing prices, but there's no brand filter.

      Nope. If someone is an app developer maybe they can figure out the "lock in price" mechanism that will allow us to see which server the app contacts to pull prices from?

    • https://www.comparethemarket.com.au/fuel/

      click compare now and it takes you to a map.

      you can pan and zoom and you'll see the cheapest servo's in dark green. the scale on the left will show you what the bottom range is so you know not to bother with the whole area if it's too high. you can quickly jump between capital cities by typing in the city name in the filter

      won't give you the actual price, so you'll need to have the app handy to check each store that's worth checking.

    • @illumination You can use LIST VIEW in Petrol Spy to see the cheapest price within the map area.

  • Where's the cheapest diesel in Oz?

    Otherwise it'll have to be 116.7 from Costco….

  • Don't say the fun's over..?
    Dare I update?

    • Phone verification as in sms?
      App version 1.0.4 for life :)

      • Seems we're all getting forced to update - I can't move on past this screen on 1.0.4 on another android device either so it'll just be a matter of time by the looks.

        Well, that's why I asked! I'm intrigued to know what "phone verification" entails - I've updated now but obviously might hold off teleporting to NSW…just for now.

        • Damn.. My z2 rooted can't move past it..
          Z2 non rooted is stuck on 1.0.6 with no update available

        • @cwongtech:

          damn… was fine this morning… now busted :(

          on CYANOGENMOD - so built in root… (can't even update….)

        • @blehgg:

          Same boat here.. I can't get past the screen.. I'm lucky I don't have any funds left in my account.. !

          Back to freedom fuels for me it is..

        • @Gomo:

          still have like $60 ~

          if anyone has a work around let me know! :(

          Might have to roll back to MIUI and finish the fuel off first….

        • @blehgg:
          That sucks..use up the money on a diff phone?

        • @blehgg: bugger! Or just find an old iPhone to redeem?

          I think the Dev team will see a huge decrease in users.. I would of spent over $400 on this deal.. but I'll only visit 7/11 if the pump price is decent ..

          Unless someone can modify the app from version checking ?

          I'm on a redmi note 2 :) but running cm 12.1

        • @Gomo:

          Yea just sucks cause I'm on Redmi Redmi Note 3 Pro (CM13)

          Their Root Detection is a bit absurd….

          Bypassing the version check might be viable… but probably against Posting Rules…

  • Sweet got $15 for uploading rec. Can confirm still working on galaxy s6 no dramas

    • Version number? Maybe you just haven't got a notification yet?

      • 1.0.6 (765) is that the older one is it?

        • still working for u?

  • Lock in your petrol. Heading to $1.45+. Makes no sense as AUD went up substantially moreso than oil price this week.

    • They say that but yesterday premium literally dropped 3c in Melbourne.

  • Anyone got it working with the new version?

  • +2

    On iOS, updated the app to the latest, and this process still works.

    Win! :)

    • Yep, got it to work on my Galaxy S4. I wish I could figure out a consistent way to get it to work though.

    • +2

      Yep still works for me!

      Btw has anyone had any attendants question you since this thread was posted?
      Two of the last three fills I've been questioned where I got such a cheap price with an underlying tone as if they knew it wasn't possible anywhere within the state within the last 7 days haha.

      • Just say my mate in NSW emails me

        • Just say you came back from a road-trip "up the coast".
          Aren't we all doing road-trips in 10 minutes..? ;)

      • Yep had an attendant ask me this today lol. He was grinning while serving me but I just played dumb.

      • +1

        never said a word, biggest saving so far was $27 on a tank

    • Yeah still working for me also. Jailbroken on iOS 9.0.2

  • +2

    If you need a voucher; PM me… i may be able to assist.
    (Condition: Use it asap)

    • Thanks very much for sending the vouchers, its been very helpful. Saving few bucks and no need to hunt different servo's for prices :).

    • what voucher is this? do u have more to share?

      • +1

        I can only do 1 at a time.
        Once today's ozB friend uses it; id be able to make another tmrw.

  • +1

    Version 1.0.8 working on jailbroken iPhone 7

    • so what other aps are needed on IOS
      May be I should jailbreak mine as well

      • +2

        I'm using LocationFaker9 and it works brilliantly.

        I also have it setup on an android phone but that was far more difficult due to root and mock location detection within the 7-eleven app.

        • thanks, ca u share the process i followed to jailbreak as well, i want to try jailbreaking on ipad which is running ios 9.3.5 , thanks in advaance

        • +1

          I have now tried several methods in Android without any success so far :(

        • @ujwols:

          There's no public Jailbreak for iOS 9.3.5

        • @ujwols:

          You need to install whatever location spoofing app you're using as a System app in order to bypass the 'mock location' detection. As for hiding root access, I used the xposed version of RootCloak.

        • @RyJMc:

          Hey RyJMc ~

          do you have instructions for the RootCloak? e.g. what version etc?

        • @RyJMc: Yes, With RoatCloak installed , the 7-eleven app is crashing for me. I have xposed module for mock location as well.

          I had been successfully using v1.0.4 until they forced to upgrade.

          I also now relaise there is no jailbreak for my Ipad 2 as the pangu jail break for ios 9.3.5 works only for 64bit device. Ipad 2 is 32 bit :(

          Don't want to jailbreak my iphone yet.

        • +2

          @blehgg:

          I'm surprised your Android works..

          https://github.com/devadvance/rootcloak/wiki/Working-and-Non…

          the rootCloak Non-Working section lists the same method which 7Eleven uses based on what I could pull from the code

          Method: Detects root by checking for the existance of the su binary.

        • +1

          @blehgg: based on the crash log analysis I can see it uses the rootbeer api:

          https://github.com/scottyab/rootbeer
          It's definitely not as easy as checking the existence of su binary.

        • +1

          @ujwols:

          yea i was just quoting one of the methods from the "Non-Working" section

              RootBeer rootBeer = new RootBeer(this);
              boolean checkForBinary = rootBeer.checkForBinary("su");
              boolean checkForDangerousProps = rootBeer.checkForDangerousProps();
              boolean checkForRWPaths = rootBeer.checkForRWPaths();
              boolean detectTestKeys = rootBeer.detectTestKeys();
              boolean checkSuExists = rootBeer.checkSuExists();
              boolean checkForRootNative = rootBeer.checkForRootNative();
              if (checkForBinary || checkForDangerousProps || checkForRWPaths || detectTestKeys || checkSuExists || checkForRootNative) {
                  C0329l.m2514a(this).m2521a(getString(2131165624), getString(2131165623), getString(2131165559), new aa(this), false);
              }

    Updated the app on iOS the other day, just got a popup alerting me that 7-Eleven Fuel app has been using my location in the background.
    Could've sworn it was set to 'While Using The App' and not 'Always'.

    Anyways, might be a good idea for everyone to go in and double check their settings. I switched it back to only while using the app.
    Don't want them to watch me while I'm traveling vast distances to lock in the cheapest price.

  • +1

    nice to lock up at Thornton and save nearly 30c/l, Melbourne is around 144 now, cheapest around town is Sunbury with 117.9

    • is that using ios app ?

      • +1

        of course not, non jb android running 6.0

        • cool, so not rooted? using the play store version?what app r u usibg for mocking location?

        • @ujwols: quite a few works, mine is fake gps go from excellentsapps, I reckon apps that enable spoofing on Pokemon Go will work because Ninantic seemed to be the most skilled in blocking spoofing, used to play with app called flygps and that one also worked, so you might want to try that if needed. Bear in mind that what I talked about only apply to android 6.0 or above because it enable spoofing without root.

        • @lgacb08: all right thanks will give it a go.,

        • @lgacb08: flygps worked for me! Cheers.

    Can someone start a thread in the forum and link it here for the cheapest petrol they can find? Everyone can then subscribe and update the thread when they get petrol.

  • +3

    Thornton, NSW, 114.7, locked at 17th Jan 2017 6:00 pm

    • +1

      Also of anyone is struggling to lock in a good price, I am more than happy to help, just send me a PM. I would need the user name and password of your 7-11 account.

      • Could risk getting the account banned due to multiple logins in different areas.

        • +1

          I do that all the time to check price. Never had problem, and even if they do, they need to refund your money you have in your account. Think how many people use 7-11 to fill up patrol, from there a small portion use app to lock in price, and a very little travel long distance to get the best possible price ;)

        • +1

          Could risk getting the account banned due to multiple logins in different areas.

          I've been doing it for 2 other accounts so far.
          Have offered to other OzB members, but after letting them know the risk (out of transparency only) of giving the username and password, that they have money in the 7/11 and that would be the risk they take if they gave out their username and password.
          It's a risk I disclose and one that seemingly scares away the OzB members I disclose it to..

        • @cwongtech:

          Send a screenshot of fuellock barcode to them?

        • @chinezejew:

          Send a screenshot of fuellock barcode to them?

          1) Attendant may refuse it
          2) I could do it but what if they choose "pay by app"? Wouldn't that barcode let them use your accounts money, since the barcode was generated using available credit/money in your app?

        • @cwongtech:

          Have you used the app before?
          (Seems like you haven't)

          Fuel voucher is separate from 7/11 balance

        • -1

          @chinezejew:
          I have used the app since the post, but I've never paid by app no.
          Just been generating fuel vouchers for my family and friends and paying by card, leaving the credit in my acc so I can immediately relock a new fuel voucher.

          could you tell me what happens when you choose to pay by app?

          The point still stands the attendant may refuse a screenshot (even though most wont care and I'm sure it would 100% work)

          Edit: looks like a different barcode is scanned when you pay by app.

    • are u usinh ios or android? if android is it 6.0?

      • only android 6.0 above has built-in gps spoofing without root.

    • +4

      Can confirm, still 114.7 as of 18 Jan 7pm

          I had to unroot my phone just so I could keep up with 7/11 :P

        • @Gomo: can you share how undid that? r u using android 6.0?

        • +1

          @ujwols:

          Using Android 5.1.1

          Should be guides on the net if you are unsure

        • @Gomo: yeh but then how are you doing the location mock without root?

        • +1

          @ujwols:
          You can enable development options without root

  • Worked for me today on Android.

  • +2

    The long run of 114.7 @ Thornton is over. Now 116.9 (U91)

  • +2

    111.9 E10 Richlands QLD

    • +4

      Beat me to it! 113.9 for E91 for people who care remotely about their cars

      • +1

        Holden Cruze 2015 93,000km used E10 entire life of the car

        Suzuki Swift 2007 187,000km used E10 entire life no fuel issues what so ever

        • Cool

      • 113.9 for e91? I'm getting 142.9 richlands, queensland

        • Price changed at 3pm - Raceview QLD still @ 115.9 for E91

      • You work for the petrol company? :P

        • No I'm just a povo with a calculator that realises E10 doesn't make financial sense - let's leave the whole reliability equation out of it for arguments sake

        • @jackary:
          It's cheaper and in my car I get the same mileage compared to E91 so I'll stick with E10

        • @jdogg: You don't get the same mileage… you just don't. I really don't want to get into an argument, if it works it works mate! :)

        • @jackary:
          Ran both for a month each and recorded from trip computer. It works for me. You should try it with yours. Not trying to get into an arguement either.. trying to save you money!

        • @jdogg: I did :)
