Great offer, not much more to say! Manfrotto make quality tripods, I should know, I have three. Shopping for number 4 when I saw this deal.

20% off the price tag?
Hi OP, would you recommend any reasonably cost effective tripod that's not too heavy? Suitable for young families and parents with 3 hands each? 😆 I guess a balance with sturdiness and weight…..
For you I would actually recommend one from Ryda it's a bit cheaper: http://www.ryda.com.au/manfrotto-mk293a4a0rc2-4-section-trip… for $158 with 4 sections.
If you can spend a bit more (seeming a tripod should last you 10+ years) then I recommend carbon fibre as I love my Carbon one, 4 section which cost me about $270.
You can get the ball head one for $319: http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/prod9856.htm or if you don't mind 3 way heads, then for $279: http://www.ryda.com.au/manfrotto-mk293c4-tripod-with-mh293d3…
Thanks heaps :)
Any thoughts on this one:

The Befree carbon fibre? I'm wondering if paying the premium for carbon fibre is worth the price difference. I like the portability, but the aluminium series is much cheaper….
Thanks for posting. Bought a Befree from Costco last week for $175. Will return it and get a Manfrotto 290 Dual instead. http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/prod14633.htm
What makes you decide to return the Befree, mind I ask?
IMHO, any tripod with leg sections less than 12mm in diameter is going to be pretty unstable with those extended (unless it only going to be used with a compact camera), so I would see this BeFree & MT293 models as 3 section tripods, which would limit it's height to a fair bit less than 143cm. The 15mm diameter 3rd section is a little small (if used for a DSLR), but probably OK.
The 290 will be a LOT more stable, but not much good as a travel tripod because it's folded length is nearly 70cm and it weighs almost 2½kg.
IMO something like this Sirui will be a better option than the Manfrotto travel tripods, and they have the advantage of having Arca-Swiss standard plates instead of Manfrotto's propriety plate (easy to buy extra plates and other accessories for them). It has a minimum diameter of 13mm, which is still small, but not as skinny as 11mm.

or,
http://mainlinephoto.com.au/sirui-travel-t-025x-carbon-fibre… - at $319 it is really skinny at 10mm, but as a 5 section it can be limited to 4 sections used, and is the lightest/smallest tripod available I believe.Or, if you have the budget and want something really stable (I have had my 70D + 100-400mm L lens fully extended with no problem, but I also paid $299 for it). It has a minimum section of 19mm, has a folded length of 47cm, and includes a monopod.

You can find Sirui tripods on eBay a fair bit cheaper than these usually, and they are great quality tripods and the ball heads are very smooth and stable.
Manfrotto used to build really good stuff, but less so nowadays.
Will this QR adapter (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/311579371289) work with this tripod (http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/prod11722.htm)??
Great deal, recently bought a Vanguard as these tripods were more than I wanted to spend at the time. Good to know they have good sales for future.
