  • What does it print? Plastic toys?

Replacement parts for your 3D printer

    • Yeah, pretty much. Consumer-grade 3D printers are still at the hobbyist level. Fun to play with, learn from, but only in rare circumstances will it print anything useful.

It's like the 8-bit computers from the 80s.

      • Indeed, if you believed the hype of 5-6 years, ago when these domestic machines first come to market, we'd all be printing day to day house hold items (spare parts, toys, artwork) by now . There was even the scare campaign that people would start printing guns that couldn't be detected by airline x-ray machines.

  • I've been looking for a deal on 3d printers for a while
This is probably one of the first things i would print

$40 worth of pla fillament later…

  • How'd you get free shipping, comes up with shipping costs of $49 making it $258 for me?

    • Shit my bad

      • HUKD also saying free shipping? Tried my existing account, maybe new accounts?

        • Shipping is cheaper to the UK for some reason ($1.35 AUD), you can check by changing the Destination Country.

First thing to print, an AU plug?

  • Can anyone with 3D printing experience chime in? I spent a day researching this and it looks solid with a good community backing. However, some people say to pay a little more and get one with a complete metal frame and a auto leveling feature.

      TVO -Black Widow.

      Enough said lol.

      • Looks good but was hoping to be less than $500AUD. This is ~$750AUD. Don't need such as big print area

        • +1

If you purchased it on the 11/11 sale that passed, and added cash rewards, you would of paid about 605AUD. The entire thing is aluminum and there are upgrades available from 3rd party sources to buy additinal supports or even print them.

You say you dont need a big print area, but your better off having it. This thing also has its own heated bed which is needed.

If you are looking for something cheaper the Tevo Tarantula may be an option. Got it and it's a great printer for the price, though personally I'm not too big of a fan of the single rail Y carriage.

    • really depends how 'technically affluent' you are lol. autolevelling is an unnecessary hindrance if you can level the bed well enough yourself.

If you really want autolevelling (you will still have to manually level most of the way first) you can print the brackets for it and buy a $2 sensor from aliexpress, it's already supported in the firmware. I would recommend getting a heated bed as the first upgrade though.

    • This is a very cheap version of the Prusa - an open-source design so anybody can make and sell them. It has an acrylic frame, cheap hot-end, and cheap bed. You will get average to poor prints. The electronics will also be on the cheaper side. Its hard to explain all of the problems, but you will experience them all.

A quality Prusa will have a metal frame, expensive hot-end, and self-leveling bed. But it will cost around $1000.

However for your first printer, definitely buy the cheapest. Most people get frustrated & give up anyway. Why spend $1000 on something that'll eventually collect dust in a storage cupboard?

Gearbest doesn't have stock too even though they say they do. Would be cheaper to buy fromaliexpress with cash rewards 7% back.

    • Hi stylzjhn,

Remember these cheap 3d printers are all self-assemble kits and generally take a bit of knowhow to assemble and a hell of a lot of time to properly calibrate. You're not going to be printing nice models to display the day after this thing arrives.

Not trying to discourage anyone from getting this. I have a 3d printer and think it's great. Just understand what you are getting into with these self assemble kits and they are far as you can get from plug-and-play.
