If you don't mind assembling things yourself, there is the Prusa i3. I recently got one for myself for $250 delivered.

I got the EU plug version. I threw the lead away and replaced it with an IEC lead (chopped the end off) I had lying around.Looks like it has good reviews for the price. It's definitely not the Original Prusa i3 though. Kind of confusing…

have you tried to cheap filaments on ebay with the prusa i3? Looks interesting, thinking about getting one to play around with but not too sure how much consumables are going to cost me…
I have purchased a bunch from all sorts of locations but have not had a chance to go through them yet.
Because I've only had it for a week, I can't really comment on the consumable cost.I've printed ABS and PLA. PLA IMHO is much easier to work with.
I'll catalog and post my printing results.
