The a6000 is not a good price; I bought one with the kit lens for ~$800 about 9 months ago. They have been superceded by the 6300 which is much more expensive at $1580.
The a6000 is available for $699 at Digital Camera Warehouse for $699 with bonus $150 gift card; $868 gets the 16-50 lens as well.
Very nice camera, it will probably last me until 3D becomes popular and affordable.

    • Prices for the a6000 haven't gone down much at all have they? I got the a6000+kit for $699 at least 2 years ago. The a6300 has also been superceded by the a6500, being released early next year. Buttons on it feel much nicer than the a6000, plus it has a touch screen. I wouldn't upgrade, but would get it over an a6300 now. Sorry to be off topic :P

    • That's because the A6000 (and all the other items listed underneath it) aren't part of the 12 days of Christmas sale, I don't know why OP posted them as such.

  • The H.ear On Wireless headphones are good value at $379 - I would recommend these over the popular Bose QC35 if sound quality and clarity is important. Personally, I also think they look great, especially in teal :-)

There are 3 issues with your comment:

        1) These are completely different headphones.
        2) If you'd paid more attention you'd notice that the ones you have linked (i.e. H.Ear In Wireless) are also listed in the OP at $199 delivered.
        3) SpotIT are a spotty drop-shipper - check out the many posts about them on Whirlpool - I wouldn't buy from them even if they were slightly cheaper, which they're not.

The one you referred is in ear mate, not the wireless headphone mdr100bt

    • Tempted to try and sell my MDR-1A to fund a pair of these.

That Blu-Ray player is single-band (2.4GHz), so perhaps not ideal for high-quality streaming.

    • +1

Your concern is not backed up by the laws of physics :-)
Do you realise that the speed of the internet is much slower than the wi-fi bandwidth achievable over 2.4GHz?

      • +1

Streaming doesn't always have to be from the internet. A lot of people stream from a local network, and want high quality.
Secondly, depending on how many networks there are around you, the actual bandwidth (not theoretical bandwidth) you get from a 2.4GHz connection can definitely be less than your internet bandwidth (especially for those on NBN), not to mention the reliability. When I have too many 2.4GHz devices near my Chromecast 1 (which uses 2.4GHz), the stability of the WiFi connection is very poor and even a low-bandwidth stream will be interrupted and hang.

I don't think people should be investing in 2.4GHz streaming components nowadays.

Fair enough - I do agree with most of your points. I just assumed that by 'streaming' you were referring to VOD services.

For what's it's worth, I've successfully streamed 1080p MKV's from my network using the old WDTV Live unit over a 2.4GHz band. However, I agree that with the advent of 4k content, it's not really future proof.

On the other hand, one could argue that if you're serious about 4k content you probably shouldn't be looking at a $99 1080p BD player anyway. You would be looking at spending a few times that price though.

@elektron: Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I found that when I had a 2.4GHz WiFi dongle plugged into my home theater pc, it would seriously struggle to reliably stream a basic Youtube video (few mb/s only) when a baby monitor and wireless headphone were within a metre of the pc. Even if the supposed sync speed was 240Mb/s. It's mostly the interference/instability which kill the streaming experience in my opinion, not so much the bandwidth.

          @Make it so:

Well how about that. A logical, thought out debate on ozbargain with both sides listening to each others points of view without getting narky.

Miracles do happen. Must be Christmas.

OP and everyone else, only the Blu-ray players are on today's (day 5) Christmas sale, and not all the items posted here.

earphones/headphones are on sale so idk what you are on about

      • Not part of the Sony 12 Days of Christmas sale, that's what I am on about.
