Seems Amazon has a deal going on the Xperia XZ, which is a 5.2 inch smartphone.

Not sure if there are ramifications of importing a phone from the US (bandwidth etc)? Perhaps someone in the technical know can advise. It could be LTE, which might mean you need to be on Vodafone to get full use out of it.

JB Hifi has the Xperia XZ for $999: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/phones/Outright-Mobile-Handsets/so…

    From Amazon:
    LTE Bands: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 19, 20, 26, 28, 29, 32, 38, 39, 40, 41 / UMTS HSPA+: 800, 850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 / GSM GPRS/EDGE: 850, 900, 1800, 1900

    From Whirlpool:
Australia is currently using these LTE bands
2100Mhz (B1) – Telstra (a handful of sites), Optus (Tasmania), Vodafone
    1800Mhz (B3) – Telstra, Optus, Vodafone
    850Mhz (B5) – Vodafone
    2600Mhz (B7) – Telstra, Optus
900Mhz (B8) – Telstra (a handful of sites, utilises spectrum previously used by 2G)
    700Mhz (B28) – Telstra, Optus
    2300Mhz (B40) – Optus (Vivid wireless spectrum)

So should be 100% compatible with Australian network.

    However, no warranty.

The US ver has no fingerprint scanner? Or perhaps you can flash on another regions firmware to reenable it.

    • I haven't checked in the last week or two but that is correct. You need to flash the ROM to get it working.

  • Store in title please.

The US version of the Sony phones do not have the fingerprint sensor active for some stupid legal reason.
Not sure if it's firmware only (IE re-flashing to non-US firmware would fix it) or if it's a hardware disable.
I forget the details, it's just something I remember reading about.

    Edit: Confirmed, software limitation:

Price match JB with Mobileciti for $899 and pay with UltimateKids - 10% off @ Coles, starting tomorrow for $810. If you can get TRS, then it will be very close to Amazon's price with full 2yr warranty.

If you can sweet talk to the sales when you price match at JB then you might get another few dollars off too! Dont forget if you use the money saved to buy a lottery ticket you might become instant millionaire too!

      • Probably a nice strategy for you :)

      • when u talk to the jb staff sweetlyabout price match with other shop, they will check the color , model number, shop name and so on with their distorting face!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      What are you talking about!

      • Amazon's price is great, but for people who can get GST back under TRS at the airport, the local stock can be had for around $730, which is $50 more but you get full 2yr warranty.
