  • how do we know it will be back in stock? and when?

  • +1

I think amazon will only charge the card when in stock

  • Amazing deal, but how long do we wait?

  • +7

Too many bad reviews on newegg for me to take the plunge. Great price but seems unreliable.

  • People are complaining of a "bait and switch" seems Silicon power shipped the original units with one type of flash then changed the brand of flash down the track without telling anyone. Apparently the second brand they used is far inferior, so it may be a lottery on what flash you receive.

To be fair: the 9% of bad reviews seem to be for the drive crapping out 6-8 months down the track and not the flash.

  • ta got one. as stated above, bad reviews seem to be for the 240gb… now that's probably because it was more affordable/available to people, but we'll see i guess.

for the price, i wouldn't be too upset if it lasted a year before giving up the ghost :p

    • +3

Bugger it I bought one too, 960gb for ~$137, cant argue I guess. Lets see if they honor it.

      • Same here.

        • +1

How did you get to the checkout, as it says 'Some items of your order can not be sent to the selected delivery address. Please select a different address to see the estimated total amount.' So, no delivery to Australia?

        • @Storm: Was it a PO box or something? I was able to checkout without issue - sending to my workplace street address.

        • +2

          @macrocephalic:

Nah, just Perth, Australia (maybe that's why! :) ).

Weird, changed it slightly and it went ahead. Now to see if they send an email sometime cancelling the order due to a pricing error :) It's the number 1 selling SSD on Amazon.de right now. I wonder why?? :)

        • @Storm: I had no issue when checked out. Sorry that I can't help.

  • +3

Terrible terrible drives. Cheap price, but no bargain here.

    • +2

4.3 out of 5 with 324 reviews is hardly terrible:
      https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-960GB-Internal-SP960GBS…
9% 1 star reviews is alarming though.

The Sandisk Ultra II 960gb deal posted on OZB this week has 2358 reviews and has 8% 1 star reviews and no one is negging that.

      • Because Sandisk are a better known brand name.

        • So were OCZ…
But i agree, the reviews are a bit flakey

        • +2

          @Dontreadthis:
          shudder
Bad memories from bad OCZ drives. Lost a raid array. Sadness.

        • @Dontreadthis:
Toshiba/OCZ Trion 150 is reviewed very well

        • WD now own Sandisk.

Sandisk SSD Plus -> WD Green
          Sandisk X400 -> WD Blue

        • @klumsybot:
OCZ had huge reliability/failure problems which bankrupted them. They have only recently re-entered the market with the Trion series after they were bought out by Toshiba.

        • @Dontreadthis: yes, I worked at a computer store during the great failure. Ocz vertex 2, ocz solid (and to a lesser extent agility) had about a 40% failure rate. It was awful.

I trust Toshiba at the helm though, by the vertex 4 ocz had ironed out their reliability problems.

Amazon reviews are fake or written by idiots. Why people keep pointing to Amazon reviews when experts review hardware is beyond me.

        • Because expert reviews give no indication as to reliability. They test them for a week and publish performance figures. Amazon reviews are handy because buyers come back to comment after months of use.

    • Depends on the use. Wouldn't use it for critical data but for a game storage drive or the like it's a no brainer at this price and I'd be prepared to take the risk.

  • omg!! too many good SSD drives over the past week! Picked up the MX300 for $140 and now this!! Good to finally migrate fully over to SSD on my PC (with all the backups to NAS downstairs!)

  • +2

do not ignore the reviews, buy a decent brand ssd, there is always a decent price for a decent brand , you just need to wait

    • You'll be waiting a while before it's this cheap again. Anything that matters should be backed up regardless of what brand you buy.

  • +1

    Insane,
At this rate SSDs will be cheaper than HDDs by Xmas

  • -1

Still waiting for Toshiba ssd, they will have major break thru, when the time comes Samsung will be history

    • what have you got against Samsung drives?

      • -1

Yeah, I want to know too. As SSD wont explode like their mobile phone, also not caught on fire like their top loader washing machine.

      • Nothing.

When Toshiba has their new ssd come out next year, all ssd brand will be challenged. 64 layer will be past tense.

        Read news before neg fss

        • Well.. I just asked a question and did not neg you. I presume someone else did.

Even if Toshi comes out with "new" technology, does not mean Samsung will be "history" considering they are probably just as much in the works with something competing.

    • Toshiba already has their own SSD and it is reliable as OCZ's drives since they basically acquired the OCZ's SSD business.

  • Given this product (as far as I can tell) is also here https://www.amazon.de/Silicon-Power-interne-Zoll-schwarz/dp/… for 322 EURO's I think this 96 EURO listing might be in error — if price seems too good to be true it probably is.

    • Yeah, it's over USD $300, so this must be a pricing error (or description error… maybe it's supposed to be the 240GB version).

So, would Amazon.de just cancel the orders if it's a pricing error?

      • +1

Depending on their terms and conditions they may have the right to cancel an order due to an error if a customer has not been charged, or reverse the charge - which would be understandable if they are selling it below the cost price.

If the number of customers ordering has been low they may at their discretion honor the price as a good will gesture.

I guess those who ordered will find out - they may have picked up a the bargain of the month!

  • ADded to basket came to $143 and I thought maybe I should wait another 6 months. although im really tired of my 120GB ssd for my C: drive that seems to be failing.
Bought anyway time for fresh windows install..

  • Purchased 6 of their 240Gb SSD back from July, they are all working fine.

  • +1

I have this exact model, very good so far… Good speeds too. (Have it for about 6 months now)

    • +3

you need to buy another one as the life expectancy of yours is due soon =)

      • Just bought 2 ;p

  • Prices are freefalling. Good for us consumers

  • Great deal, ordered one. Thank you very much for your help.

  • +1

Worth taking a chance on I think.

  • +1

I ordered the 525GB yesterday, and now this one too! BUY ALL THE SSDs!

  • Ordered one! Thanks!

  • +1

finally some relief from the agony of missing out on the 750GB mx300. thanks OP

  • thx op

  • +1

Is there any info on the warranty regarding this?

    • +1

3 years according to a review.

    • +1

      2 years.

      • +1

2 years for this, 3 years for their more expensive models.

  • Surely a pricing error? They are over $300 USD on Newegg 4 reviews all with top marks btw :) ):

  • For those interested the Crucial MX300 525gb is currently AU $147 on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01IAGSD68/ref=pe_825000_114660910…

  • The 240gb version has a quick review amongst the top 20:

    • +1

      That's for the S60 not the S55.

  • Ordered one. Wait and see what happens.

  • Is EUR decimal point , rather than our AUD . ? I want to make sure , in EUR is not a thousand separator.

    • +2

      Yes

  • +1

wow and I thought the crucial mx300 deal was great value for money!

  • just ordered one. totally 96.31euro, paid 142au. coz missed out crucial one, dont want to miss out this one again. donno when it will be delivered, need to wait.

  • +1

I grabbed 2 as it was very little postage for 2nd unit ……Will use on on the Xbox and one for the ps4 at that Price

  • actually after ordered I find out where the problem is. This item is under Computer & Zubehör › Computer-Zubehör › Tintenstrahl- & Laserdrucker-Zubehör › Speichermodule(Computer accessories > Computer accessories > Inkjet & Laser Printer Accessories > Memory modules), but ssd normally should be under Computer & Zubehör › PC-Komponenten › Interne Solid State Drives(Computer accessories > PC components > Internal Solid State Drives).

Obviously this item is wrongly listed and priced. I doubt they will accept and ship our orders in such price. just too good to be ture.

    • This deal has been listed for over 6 hours. You'd think they would have picked this up by now if it really is a listing error. Yes quite likely, but who knows, they may honor it, hehehehehe

      • hope so. but actually the item technical details under the page is totally different which is clearly not an ssd item. I would suppose they will take their responsibility and obligation to correct item description and most likely cancel all orders.

I just checked the local time, it is still not working time now in Germany, 8am in the morning.

        • Yeah more than likey.. but in regards to work hours, you'd image there are staff there 24/7 for this type of business and being Amazon and all!!

  • +1

How much warranty do we have on this product?

  • +2

Who would we return this to in case of RMA? Amazon Germany, Silicon Power or Amazon US?

  • Ordered one. Figure it's cheap enough to use as a portable SSD.

    • Put it in the $8 oricon caddy!

      • Yep exactly right!

  • Just want to know do you check out with Aud or Euro currency? Which is better with Amazon?

  • Lol grabbed the crucial 525gb yesterday and now this its going to be a expensive Christmas for me if it all goes thru :/

Whats the difference paying euro to aus I paid in aus turned out to be $149

Just noticed the conversion :/ I there way still a bargain if it goes thru

    • +1

basically by paying in AUD, your price is set.. Those paying in EUR, will either pay more or pay less depenind on the AUD currency movement, when they actually charge your credit card.

Since its on back order I am not sure when they actually submit the charge.

Oh and of course as others have mention, you should get a much better rate if paying in EUR.

      • Depends on your credit card. 28 degrees yes, but I think for Amex the Amazon rate is probably better.

    • lol just checked email was $141 not $149

  • just got a pricing error cancellation email :(

    oh well

  • +6

not surprised. anyway no luck at all

    • Same email for me this morning. Google's German->English translation isn't great is it…

      • +1

        Ja. Same for me. Verdammt!

  • Got this update as well.

  • Was worth a shot. We wouldn't be ozbargainers if we didn't try!

  • Was still charge $1.43 purchase authorisation by amazon.de
Damn NAB and their conversion of international payments :)

    • That's just them verifying your card is valid. It will get refunded.

      • Cheers for that. Didn't think I got charged fees until the end of the month anyway, was puzzled by it.

  • +3

My dreams of carrying a 960GB Silicon Power SSD around in a Navy coloured David Jones duffel bag for the summer, have just been dealt yet another blow :(

  • That is a lot of +ve votes for something that was out of stock and is now confirmed as a pricing error. Does this say something about Ozbargainers?
