A bit of feedback. I was able to buy as many UKGC's as I liked from Coles in the cbd. They had to do 5 cards at a time because the online activation that the POS system processes for the gift cards slows the transaction to the point that it could freeze. Buying a phone from JB hi Fi with a huge stack of $50 gift cards was kind of embarrassing but the girl on the till was a gun when it came to processing all 29 eftpos transactions in one go. If you're looking to buy something that is not likely to go on sale any time soon I think this is a good option, just be prepared to stand and wait for a while, while the transaction is being put through :) (ps: if you want to double check that all your gift cards have been activated properly do so via the UKGC website because it may save you the pain of having one not load properly when you go to buy something with it. Has anyone bought tons of JB hifi giftcards and bought something in store yet? I'm considering doing that but the idea of it makes me so timid. Really wished I bought the i7 when there were plenty of sales a few days ago.
like a few of the posters above, I hoarded cards last sale and went and bought an iPhone 7 last week with it. 23 gift cards and a bit of cash did the job! It's no problem at all, the lady at my store was pretty keen to see how long the receipt would be (not her longest unfortunately!). I'd definitely recommend going first thing in the morning on a non-busy day as it took me about 25 minutes to swipe all the cards and get her to go to the back and write up a tax invoice for TRS. But got a $1229 phone for $997 (would've been $727 if I got approved for the CBA credit card… but can't complain)

Last year when Big W had 10% off gift cards, used them to purchase JB HiFi ones (they only come in $50/$100 amounts), which I then went online and converted into $500 e gift cards. Which made the process of buying something instore a little quicker.

So I tried the Westfield GC (red) at a non-Westfield Coles just to try my luck, and of course wasnt accepted as expected.
Then went to Coles at Chatswood which is in a Westfield and they ran out of UKGCs..
So I should have bought the gold Westfield GCs to use at any Coles, oh well
Do you have a way of getting these Westfield cards without the activation fee? I can't see any other way of Westfield cards being of any use when taking up other gift card promotions.

Update: After calling up a few more Coles, managed to get 4 $50 GC and 34 $30 GC from two different stores, waited anxiously while they scanned everything, went to JB, haggled a little, waited 20 mins for the cashier to scan all of the GCs and write up a tax invoice, got a 3.2m long receipt, and finally got home. Was all this worth the savings of $130? shrugs. I just feel really sorry for making the cashier go through 38 GCs (they were really nice about it though)
Just bought 7 of $50 and 10 of $30 from Macquarie Centre. Can confirm can't use Coles staff discount but can use gift card.

I tried with both Coles & myer GC & Coles GC.
Tried Westfield GCs at Coles in Westfield and it was ok.
Now i can see why people complain about there being no cards lol

operator had some issues with using them, but all went through eventually
cards came from Coles Noarlunga, who only had a half dozen or so $30 cards left after I got what I wanted. couldn't see any $50 ones at all

Depending on who serves you they will do multiples of 10.
