Went past the local Dick Smith store, at the corner of Little Collins & Elizabeth in Melbourne, and saw that they had DJ Hero for PS3, Xbox360 and WII for only $50!
I would've bought one if I didn't already have one.

the game comes with a non-retail packaging. As i stated in oursteps, no shops will accept your "trade-in" offer.
I would say you can trade it in. I regularly see "not to be sold separately" preowned games on sale at EB and GAME. Have bought a couple and they even go to the effort of covering the little white box with a second preowned sticker barcode so they must realise.
i'm pretty sure the game will have "not for seperate sale" on the back (as with most packaged games)

I rang my local store and they said it was $98. I asked the manager to do a deal and he said 2 for $100. I rang my brother and he wanted one so I'll be picking it up today.

Seems like an interesting game, but I can imagine the novelty wears off pretty quick, and it's more crap to have to store somewhere.
I tried the tutorial for about 30 minutes and it is a real fun game (upto now). It can be a bit challenging and may not be a good party game. I can see myself pumping the volume up and having a blast.
