Masters closing down sale all items min 60% off. Been eyeing this gazebo 3.6 x 3.6m for a while. Price dropped to $519.60 after 60% off. Was $1299 rrp. The 3x3m one is $399 from $998. Not sure which one to put in the garden, so bought both sizes and decide later lol. Lots of stock still left at the Qld Everton Park store, but none left in the North Lakes nor Morayfield store. Not sure about stock availabilty in other masters store.

Are you serious? Do you think the OP is an idiot?

      • +1

To answer your questions. Yes I'm serious. No, plenty of people have been caught out by this and considering the OP purchased two on the basis to decide which one he'll keep once he's left the store, it was more than reasonable to consider the purchaser wasn't aware of the no returns police.

        Thanks for your concern

Masters is closing, it has been clearly stated on the receipt, on all advertising, in store, all over the entry doors, over the registers, on TV, in their emails and everywhere else that there are no returns. Common sense also tells you no returns.

Sheesh. Name the people that you claim to have been caught out by this? If you're not aware of the no returns policy you must have a seeing eye dog.

And the no returns policy is for change of mind, faulty goods can be returned.

"3. Have You Simply Changed Your Mind?
On August 24, 2016 Woolworths Limited advised the closure of all Masters Home Improvement Stores by the end of December 2016. As such this section of the Returns Policy has been updated.

We will no longer allow return or exchange where you have simply changed your mind, for products purchased on or after August 30, 2016. This change is consistent with our obligations under the Australian Consumer Law."

why are you so fixated on this? i don't understand the aggression and attempt to stifle discussion.

My initial post was not a criticism, but a friendly reminder of the policy, that the OP may not have been aware of based on their claim they purchased two similar products to decide which one to keep after they went home.

if you're an employee of masters, you can see from my history, i was extremely pro-master prior to GA Australia purchasing the stock, so you can grind your axe elsewhere

Think Maverick-au is either on his rags or was himself burned by the no return policy

          Either way he is overreacting.

Think Maverick-au is either on his rags or was himself burned by the no return policy

Nope I haven't been burned by the no returns policy and it's clearly stated everywhere and only an idiot would think they could do a change of mind return.

Just bear in mind that consumers might not be able to return goods sold/bought during this time.

  • +4

Yup. Just sell the other away on Gumtree later. Thats the plan anyway.

"Not sure about stock availability in other masters store…"

Just go to any Bunnings, as these "reduced" prices are near Bunnings everyday price anyway.

You can't compare the two, the bunnings one is cheap rubbish.

      • +1

This one isn't all that better (if at all).

    • that one looks like its a canvas roof. the masters one looks solid.

    • +1

The Bunnies gazebo you refer is cloth top, think masters was clearing similar a week or two ago for apx $249.
I think the Masters gazebo mentioned here are 3M Ventilated Hardtop (92kg package) & 3.6M hardtop (77kg package).

    • Bunnings one are crappy while masters one are solid

  • +1

These were never $1299. They were always sub $700. Edit: good luck with that roof in a hail storm.

    • +1

agreed. These were always around the $700 mark and would frequently be below $600 with their 20% off sales

  • You'll need a building permit for that.

There's a reason most of them are 3x3m with fabric covers.

    • +1

      Seriously? Cos of the roof?

      • +1

        Partly.

The 3.6m is also larger than 10sqm, so it needs a building permit because of that. There's usually height restrictions as well.

Fabric covered ones count as unroofed pergolas, so the rules are more lenient.

      • +1

No, because based on Brisbane City Council regulations, anything over 10m2 will need a permit. 3x3 is just under, 3.6 x 3.6 is over. Good pickup KentT.

    • I have a 3.7 x 3.0 cantilever. Haven't even used it.

  • Maybe this one is of a higher quality being rrp over $1000, but when I was looking at getting a gazebo from masters a few year ago I was very disappointed in the weak and rickety quality of them. Looked like a small gust of wind would easily bowl them over.

  • +1

got one last year - not good quality. the roof panels are now falling apart.

    • Can you replace the hardtop gazebo roof panels with polycarbonate?

Just wondering how have you secured your gazebo to the ground.
Can you suggest any improvements for intending buyers.
Do the screw/bolts come loose, does anything rust, how long does it take to assemble, do you recall anything which will assist assembly, etc.

      • +1

the guideline that was given to instal it wasn't very clear.. Took us (2 of us) a good few hours (approx. 6 hrs) to instal it. The rooftop panel slide against the next panel and that is how its locked in. Cant really remember what we did to secure it to the ground as we bought another gazebo to instal from bunnings and that took us much faster than this. All I can remember was securing it to the ground wasn't a problem.

The major problem we have with this was the roof panels didn't sit securely with each other and after a few months the panels just fell off to the ground. Not sure if we have done something wrong, as it wasn't noted in the guideline. Now a few of the panels broke and we just gave up with it. We paid almost $1K as it looks good in the shop.

  • The smaller ones were being cleared at the parkinson store, before great american bought the stock, for $199
If you gave them a good coat of metal paint then secured it in place, like bolted to a house AND footings
Then maybe I'd sit under it
Just pray a kookaburra doesn't land on it too heavily

  • Just wonderding if masters allows you to buy and pay for a bulky item in store and pick it up a couple of days later?

    • I saw kitchens in Northland
They were all sold sticker on them
      So I would say yes

    • Yes, I believe their policy has loosened up in respect to large heavy items, as they now have partitioned vacant space. But do ask people in authority at Masters. I was pleased to see someone get a refund on a " built 52cc line trimmer " because he didn't know how to control the steel blade. It was not me, my monster is yet to be unpacked.
Not sure if the free 2 hour loaner trailers are still available or have been sold.
