Thanks OP! I'm guessing I can use my Telstra Freedom Prepaid Credit balance as a payment option too?

    • +4

Absolutely. You can cancel straight away and still enjoy the 4 months free too.

      • +6

Oh how I love Freedom Plus. Never moving off it.

        • OK but aren't you getting zero benefits from using Telstra Prepaid credit to pay for Google Play because you can't buy Telstra credit at a discount?

        • Is the freedom plus plan still available?

        • +1

          @mmd: it's been grandfathered.

        • @Diji1:

If you want play music anyway you pretty much save $10 off of your phone bill/not paying for play music. Yes it's not the ridiculous savings people were getting with the $1 sim cards but it's still pretty good getting your phone and all your media for one price.

        • +1

          @Diji1:
          Hardly..
After my Telstra Billing deductions $17.95 for Family Play Music subscription and $12 Netflix, I reckon getting essentially free calls and data is still a decent value deal..

        • @scubacoles:
don't forget rebatr or build your own app that does this.

        • +1

          @spawnlaeer:
On my $30/month plan spending $29.94/month on subscriptions, I don't have a huge mount left over to bother about rebatr!

        • @scubacoles:
Fair enough. I'm on the $50 and get half from my Work, and about $10 from rebatr.

Rest is for GP Music and Netflix and app purchases.

Feels good paying only $15 for all of this.

        • @spawnlaeer: first time I hear about this rebatr app…strangely enough I can google search it but unable to find it on google play store?

        • @televisi: It's been taken off the play store last week.

      • so i have just subscribed it, how can i cancel it ?

      • nevermind.. just cancelled it :)

      • +1

Be careful about messing with Google (signing up and immediately cancelling).

Some people in the US who bought Pixel phones and then immediately resold them got all their Google accounts cancelled. They could no longer use GMail, Google Drive or much of their Android phone.

    Good one, OP!

"Error processing coupon. The special offer is only available to new users"

    • If you've previously used a coupon, you can't trial again. Best bet is to use/create another account.

  • +3

Just keep in mind free trials are only available to new users. Those who have already used up their free trials or have previously signed up for the service are out of luck here.

you also cannot be eligible if you are already a paying customer.

To get around this, just login to a different Google account.

    • Indeed - I've already used the free subscription for my main account earlier in the year. However I have a related backup google account that I've used to archive emails and google doc contents too. The gmail app and the music app allow me to switch accounts quite easily too. I've just signed up for another free 4 months music with my backup account - yaay.. Whats more the google music app also seems to allow me to access all my music collection that I've already uploaded via my main google account!

  • +1

This also gives you Youtube Red

  • +8

Weirdly, I've used a free trial on the same account before and it worked for me. No idea why.

    • Same here just started this free trial and have had one in the past. Worked fine.

      • +2

        HOW???

        • +2

i've heard a few times that after 12 months, trial offers work again.

        • @Infy_AsiX:

Could be it. It has been awhile since my last free trial.

        • +1

@Sabs: yeah worked for me on an account that had a free trial before. But yeah would've been over 12 months ago (and i did become a paid subscriber after that for a while).

        • Worked on my account too where Ive already used a free trial in the past. I was thinking that that was less then 12mths ago but could be wrong.

  • +1

    Thanks OP! (^_^)b
My subscription expire at March 23 2017~

  • +3

GET ON IT. Love it. Happy Subscriber

  • Awesome. Thanks OP :)

  • Anyone know if there's a way to move a Spotify playlist to this? About 1000 songs so not worth doing it manually

  • +1

Can make new account and cancel instantly to avoid being billed in a few months. Great deal (freebie!).

    • Yea this works fine

  • Just subscribed to Spotify for $0.99 and now Play Music. ;)

  • +1

:sigh: Why did I started my trial when there isn't a promotion on…

Any way great service, been using it everyday for almost 2 years now!

    • Your reward is that you get it for $10 per month. That's a better deal than 4 months free, then $12 per month after.

I was originally on the US$7.99 plan, which I got for signing up as soon as it was released in the USA (I was in the USA when it came out). At the time, the dollar was pretty close to parity. It was an excellent deal. :)

  • HUH! And i was very happy with their one month free subscription ;\ i think i need to create new account.

  • Great find. Thanks OP

  • +3

Get 5 friends and go on a family plan for $17 a month
Worth it to remove YouTube ads alone.

I pity anyone still living with 30 second forced ads

    • +6

Have you never heard of AdBlock?

      • A bit hard on iOS unless Jailbroken.

      • Yea mobile.

  • perfect timing. My free trial from the last promo ends 25/11

  • Great find guys , I'm with telstra prepaid how do you use your credit for payment? Thanks

    • You need to be on the older Freedom Plus account, and have carrier billing enabled.

You can then purchase from your phone by choosing carrier billing when clicking to buy within the Play store.

      • Actually I'm on the new Telstra plans and can still use the credit they give me for Google Play

        • Good to know.

        • I was under the impression that the new plans didn't support google play billing. If it does I'm all in!

What's the process involved, how can the prepaid credit be used as google play credit? Which plan are you on exactly?

  • +1

Worked with my existing account which used the free trial previously.

    • Thanks for sharing otherwise I would have assumed it only worked on new accounts. Worked on my existing account too!

  • +2

I tried to love this because of YouTube red but went back to Spotify

    • Same, for me the playlists on Spotify kill Google Play. All the major music press seem to use Spotify and they have excellent playlists.

  • My old trail actually expires today, good timing! :)

  • How do you cancel payments after signing up?

    • +2

you can cancel immediately, and still have access to the subscription up until expiration date. just cancelled mine after subscribing & confirmed it works haha http://imgur.com/kbuf1L9

  • +1

Does it need to be cancelled straightaway if not needed after trial or just wait to the end of trial?

    • +1

To be sure I cancel towards the end. Set a calendar reminder, simple.

  • When does this expire?

  • +5

Got excited then I realized it's free YouTube red not redtube.

  • Click subscribe> click add credit card. Nothing. I can't add a CC.

  • +1

I'm a previous coupon user (from a couple of years ago) and it is free for me

  • +1

    awesome, subscribed :D

  • Thanks OP! Right in time for holiday season!

  • Thanks OP!

  • Only gives me 3 months? Anyone else with this issue?
I do have 2 Gmail accounts linked, one already subscribed in the past.

    • Clear data for the play music app and try again.

    • Try a different device.

  • Replaced Spotify :) Thanks OP! Hopefully there's another deal next March hahaha

  • Is data free for telstra?

    • No.

  • I was able to apply this on an account that had a subscription that ended earlier this year.

    Thanks!

  • Unlike Spotify, does google play music actually allow you to save the music externally

    • I wouldn't think so.
You are paying for ACCESS to music with your subscription.

      You're not paying for music.

If you want to pay for music, you are welcome to buy an album.

Why do you think you'd be entitled to potentially own 20 million songs for paying a 1 month subscription fee of 12 bucks?

      • +3

I used to be able to (for free) by putting my tape recorder next to the tv….:)

        • +1

You could still do the same with google music or spotify blasting out of any device you'd like! :-)

Just make sure you hit record and pause together first so the tape records straight away ;)

        • @damoo:

I used to hate it when the record button didn't stick down…;)

    • You can set it to save to the micro SD card if your phone has it, but it only works in that one phone

    • there's an app called play music exporter that uses root. Version that works on marshmallow is beta, more info on XDA. Apparently Nougat may not work

  • Awesome worked! used their free 3 months trial a long time ago too =)

  • Worked for me as well despite having used the trial in the past and recently having a 6 month prepaid subscription

  • Awesome! Thanks op. At this rate i don't have to buy any subscription ever!

  • Thanks! I got it just for youtube red :)

  • can you do a 4 month family trial?

  • +1
    Many thanks OP!
