Excellent, about to move into a new place and the GF and I have had our eye on a certain couch for months.

    overpriced rubbish

    • +7

Can you suggest a better and cheaper alternative?

    • +2

"overpriced rubbish"… what a strange comment! I recently picked up six blinds from Freedom for far less than I was about to spend on very similar blinds at the 40% off Spotlight sale and the Freedom blinds are actually better quality.

      • +3

        exception rather than the rule

    • +2

Not sure why this comment is negged, I have been looking for a queen size bed frame for months, but considering freedoms cheapest queen frame is $900 and looks like rubbish I think i'll pass!

      • I got a gas lift queen bed frame about a year ago for around $700 and it's fantastic. Will definitely be hanging on to it for many years to come.

    • +4

unfortunately i have to agree with you on the overpriced comment, when we were furniture shopping we haggled with every place to get better prices (all were happy to do deals etc).. freedom they wanted me to pay $100 or whatever it was to be a member to get a discount .. i said u do realise that i'd be paying more if i include joining fee not less (including discount).. she goes yeh only way i can give you a discount… haven't been in a freedom since .. lol

More of a Fantastic Furniture type of person ?

      • +3

Don't laugh. Fantastic are a lot better now than they were 20 yrs ago. A lot of furniture is sturdy hardwood, and many made here in Oz.

        • +4

yeah but it's mainly fantastic cheap crap.

        • Do the couches still use bean bag filling?

      • +1

Freedom is not the "premium" high end store you may think. Before I bought furniture from there I thought it was one of the premium stores to buy furniture, mainly due to their marketing. The reality is quite different - just look at the number of upset customers who received terrible quality furniture and then get appalling customer service to back their purchase up.

We bought a leather modular years ago that was nothing like the display one in store. The one in store was so comfy and soft you would sink down when you'd sit. The one we got delivered was really firm and left an ass print every time we would get up.

They asked us to work it in for a month or so to soften up the leather and it should be ok. 1 Month later it looked like crap and was still firm so we got it replaced (had to wait like a month or two for a replacement to be made). The replacement was just like the one in store, if not better. So comfy!

Oh i might also add it was meant to come with like a speaker thing in the centre of the modular. It was delivered with a weird cord that wouldn't fit our power point. We asked for a replacement and they sent some other type of cord i've never seen before in my life. After some more complaining they advised me it has been discontinued and could give us store credit for it in return which we got.

        • Did not know that.

  • op does this in your opinion include kitchens.

    • +2

      Not sure, sorry. Hopefully! :)

  • Low price furniture in Freedom may just last a few years - it may fit some people

    • Price does not equal quality. We bought a leather modular from Nick Scali years back for $4000+ on sale and hadn't sat in it regularly for over a year or so. Then when we started sitting on it regularly, it decided to crap itself after 5-6 months or so (something happened to the stuffing inside the cushions where you sit which basically makes it looked misshaped now. Nobody in my family weighed over 80kg so it wasn't due to our weight). Out of warranty so we never chased up

Leather modular #2 bought from Freedom a couple years back for ~$2500, sit on it everyday and it still retains its shape and comfort. Couldn't be happier.

  • IKEA flat packs vs. freedoms… Mm

Buyer beware, worst company to deal with - customer service is actually insulting if you need warranty or receive damaged goods. There's a reason they disable reviews on their Facebook page and delete all comments on their postss if not positive. Just look at their productreview.com.au link above.

If you get your required item on time and in good condition then best of luck to you. I and many others will never deal with them again.

  • Is it like the Target/SupercheapAuto *% off everything sales, where they actually HIDE stuff out the back during that day? Happened to me many times. I walk in I know what I want, it's not on the shelf, I ask and am told "it must have sold out". The next day by some miracle its back in stock at the regular price. Oh the games retailers play with us.

Brother had a terrible experience…. I had a good one!

Needing a ripper bargain to take the risk again

  • +1

Does anyone know if for MyFreedom members the price is 35% off the original price or 35% off the myfreedom price?

    • +1

Off original price mate - members save 35%, non-members save 30%. Simples. ;)

  • +1

Thanks! Need a bedside table so I'll check it out

Bought a few things for our house last year. Wasn't really happy with the quality versus price. For a company that markets themselves in the mid to high end range the quality sits more at just above low end.

  • Mmm I wonder if you can stack this with the Blatchy 10% off eGift cards offer too.

  • +1

Shit expensive price tag to start with.. Nay..

  • +1

Shit expensive price tag with mediocre quality to start with.. Nay..

  • +3

agree with many comments here. very expensive furniture, most of what we bought 3 years ago is falling apart or showing its lack of quality in how quickly it wears. regret shopping there and wont go back.

    • Agreed! My Ikea furniture have outlasted Freedom furniture too, and that is saying something!

  • For things like coffee tables, TV units, Couches, dining tables Freedom is excellent.
Can't attest to any bedroom furniture but have had stuff from decent places and the Freedom quality is pretty good.

They rarely have discounts like this so if you're after middle of the range leaning into higher range areas with some products, Freedom are worth a look.

My favorite furniture store is Nick Scali.

    • Beware of Nick Scali's bad practice of advertising that they are "on sale". Very deceptive if you're looking for bargain - they are always on special, so that's their normal price!

  • A buffet unit I've been eyeing has had its price increased by $100… So with that price increase and the need to spend $100 for membership this deal to me is worthless. Hope others cn actually find something good in this!

  • Can anyone confirm that the stuff that is already discounted on the website is an extra 30% off?

Some stuff has been marked as 30% on the site, and some hasn't.

Can we order with the 30% off online too?

edit: It's off the original price. They updated all their pricing within the hour of me writing this.

Did my shopping tonight (as a MyFreedom member) $3895 worth of stuff for $2531.75 (which is closer to what it's worth) - but the missus is happy, so I'm happy. :D

Thanks for the post went & bought a christmas present for someone & saved $250 .

    • Nice. You can be my santa anyday! :p

    Cheers - saved over $2k

  • The Freedom Furniture store in my town is run by some very snobby women (think Pru and Trudy from "Kath and Kim"). Simply awful to deal with. They are so up themselves, they think they're royalty, and not furniture saleswomen.

The shop has some OK things. I bought a Lucas lounge there 4 years ago for about $2,200 and it's good. Not great, but good enough. The same lounge suite costs close to $3,000 now. When they have discounts you can get some things priced well, e.g. stylish glass tumblers for 69c each. But I don't go there much for the same reasons as some others here - horrible customer service and stupidly high prices for crappy Chinese stuff.

In these times of online shopping, the calibre of customer service is the main thing that sets a shop apart. That's why I like Bunnings. You take something back there and they seem happy about it!
