Bought a Braun TS505 during earlier promo
Makes ironing great again and revealed that the Kmart 'homemaker' iron I had was a disaster.
No hassles in claiming the EFT card and received in a few weeks.

Funnily enough the manual states it should be filled with tap water instead of demineralised w.

    • Funnily enough the manual states it should be filled with tap water instead of demineralised w.

My steam iron (I think it's a Braun) says the same thing

    • What water is best to use for this iron?
      Filtered water?

      • +2

        I use bottled spring water

    • That's because demin water leaches from the metal in the iron.

    • My DeLonghi steam station manual said the same thing - and when the boiler cracked and I spoke to them they pointed out that our tap water is very different to the tap water in Europe and to use filtered/demineralised water. They also said that if I had a condenser dryer I could use the water from that. We got a reverse osmosis filter and use that water half and half with tap.

So far DeLonghi have replaced it about 6 times.

Is anything supposed to load when you click "claim now"? I just get an image and that's it. No fields to fill out.

Bought one.. lets find something to iron..

    • It said out of stock for me , how did you buy it.. I'd like to get one too

      • I just made my order for pickup at Sydney City, maybe try a different store?

        • +1

I think it was die to my work product setup , I tried on my mobile and was able to pick up at Parramatta

        • You must have taken the last one, couldn't pick up from Sydney City anymore.. only one left was Castle Hill. Decided to order a shirt and make it $100 for free shipping.

  • Now this is a bargain

  • +8

Nothing beats the $1.90 iron from DJ posted a while back that was meant to be $190.

I managed to get 3 lol.

    • Lol, they actually honoured that? Well done!!!

      Here's our broden

      • +4

Not really. My parents asked for one and so did my girlfriend who wasn't living with me at the time.

        • -2

Considering they are used for ironing; one each for your girlfriend, sister and mother would make more sense.

Do i get cashback if i buy from myers ebay store? I have credit i need to use.

    • +2

Yes - cashback is from manufacturer. The invoice from myer ebay store is the regular tax invoice, ie doesn't mention ebay.

      • Awesome! Ordered one on ebay paid for by my free $100 voucher that i received when i spent $300. Thanks.

  • I dont really value an iron that much as im a dude but i am willing to give it a go for 29 bucks! thanks op! My current one just leaks water instead of steam and its not even that old so lets hope this one is a heap better!

  • It says item out of stock when I go to http://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/889161 and click "add to bag".

    • same happened to me , I used my mobile and the order wnet through , maybe a glitch in their system

  • +7

OMG OMG OMG! My iron started leaking only on the weekend and about two weeks ago received $20 Myer gift card for my Myer One points.

Thanks OP, bought one for $9. Sorry got little excited up there :)

    • Lol it's the lil things :)

      • +4

Deal ironed out all your problems nicely.

  • Thanks OP. Paid with 8% discounted MYER voucher received from corporate my benefit scheme.

  • +1

Thank you so much OP! I hate ironing clothes but still I couldn't pass this deal on. I convinced my inner self that maybe I hated ironing because our current iron isn't as good and maybe the new iron will motivate me to iron the stack of clothes that is as high as Eiffel tower :D

    • lol, BTW Eiffel Tower after ironing or before?

      • +1

haha…the stack of clothes that require ironing :P

  • Thanks for posting this! I've been using a cheap one I brought from Coles for almost 4 years now. The wire is twisted and it's got a dried up burnt patch on it. This is perfect!

  • +23

Me: I just ordered a new iron (our current one is 22yo, and it is pretty knackered)

    Wife: How much?

Me: Myer has it on special from $139 to $79, then Braun has a $50 cashback on that model, so it's $29. Even you should be happy with just $29.

Wife: It's not a Christmas present

Me: You're not getting a Christmas present, so of course it's not

    • +19

Don't worry mate, I think there's some cheap deals on doghouses coming up

      • +1

        Or the takeaways..

    • serves you right for going into the details. Should've stopped at the $79 point + take her out to dinner

  • +1

I'm so tempted by this deal, but I have one of those steam generators I bought awhile back just sitting in the box unopened yet

    • +1

You can put the iron between the steam generator and the eneloops.

    • Yeah, I wasn't allowed to buy one of them. Prob a good thing, really :-)

  • Thank you for this, OP! For a month now I couldnt decide whether to get a big steam generator w/ station or just a regular iron with good reviews. I was just leaning towards getting a good Braun because I could not decide between Tefal and Philips - both have a lot of bad reviews as much as the good ones. Braun irons seems to have a lot more good reviews so points for that consistency. This just sealed the deal for me - I got the TS725A for my Mother in Law for Christmas ;) and the TS765ATP for me because I need the auto shut off. This is a good compromise for me since the big steam generators are start at $149 up to around $400. So everyone's a winner :D.

Also, I used my mobile to order because via PC website wouldnt process my order.

    • +1

What do yo mean "TS765ATP for me because I need the auto shut off"..

TS725A has Auto off as well - this is from their website : "The auto-off system enables maximum safety and energy saving. It shuts off after 8 minutes in vertical position or 30 seconds in horizontal position. "

      • I did the comparison on the Braun site and it had a dash (-) for the TS725A under the auto shutoff category - i would post the screen shot because it still says that. I just now looked at the 725A product spec and you are right, it does say it has the auto-shut off system. So Thanks for this - I might exchange the TS765A to the TS725A when I pick up.

        • I think they intentionally omitted a few features to make the pricier ones look good ..

The only difference I can see is the steam rate and a better sole plate on the 765A model

An iron for RRP $139 and no Auto shut off would be a joke , even few Kambrook ones have it :)

        • @kamban: I did look at the Myer product details and the auto shut off wasnt mentioned. I compared the specs of the two side by side from the Brauhn website and it seems that the auto-off is not consistently mentioned under the TS725A specs, while they always state this for the TS765A. I reviewed the manual for the TS725A and the auto off is there. http://www.braunhousehold.com/Global/InstructionManuals/Uplo…

        • +1

          @jannahjannah:

Yeah mate u r right , everywhere they hid the Auto off function , but it is printed on the side of the iron.. Braun is hiding the fact that a lower tier model ( which may go on sale often ) is having 90% parity to the expensive model.

        • @jannahjannah:

It's there - but the manual covers a few models and that feature says "certain models only" without saying which.

          Still not conclusive either way.

        • +2

          @odysseus:

Received the iron today, can confirm there is Auto off..it's printed bold on the iron

    • Just went through that myself - steam generator vs steam press vs good iron.

Steam generators - even Choice's top picks were averaging 2 out of 5 in reviews.

Finally found one that had ok reviews, a Tefal, RRP600 (lol) for $269 and got another 4 years warranty - as the biggest issue with steam generators is them failing after a year.

I could never go back to an iron now. This thing has halved ironing time.

      • Congratulations! I will still be considering the steam generators in the future cause they seem to be very good. Maybe when I get to try/trial one for myself. I've been wondering if any store will actually have a demo item or will let you try it out but I havent been able to find any that will. Until then I am more than happy to risk $85 for a well reviewed product and expect this to last me a year or two at the very least.

  • +9

i dont know why i just bought this .. i dont think i need a new iron.

  • Great Xmas present, bought one for my misses

Been using my old iron that has lived for 23 years… hasn't died yet but hopefully this makes a good replacement!

  • Thanks OP! Bought one.. the old one was getting rusty at the bottom.

  • BOUGHT ONE THX OP

  • +7

I creased up when I saw this and then got all hot under the collar.
Sorry for bad puns, but I had to let off some steam.
Nice deal OP - will go perfectly with wife's other Christmas present - a dustpan and brush;)

    • +2

I think we need to start ironing out these bad puns…

  • didnt want to spend money, but also dont want to iron with an iron 30 years old. so money spent!

  • +1

    Does anyone understand this:

Multiple claims/entries are permitted, subject to the following: a. only one (1) claim/entry permitted per specified purchase. b. each claim/entry must be submitted separately and in accordance with the claim/entry requirements. c. limit of one (1) Reward awarded per Eligible Entrant.

It suggests you can make multiple claims, but then suggests there's a limit of one per person?

    • Eh, if you want to buy and claim multiple, just put them in different names in the same household. At least there's no restriction of 1/household

  • +1

    Great! Thanks for the post.

Now we need an ironing board deal!

  • Be nice to find another great bargain for $21 to add to cart for free delivery…maybe an ironing board, any suggestions?

    • +2

Bought a button up shirt on sale, had to try and find something I would use haha.

  • I literally just yesterday bought this from JB Hi Fi for $149 full price… argh

    • just return it!

      • I will try but they're not obligated to :/

        • Just take a jb store credit, they'd probably be more obliged to do that

  • -1

"Returned funds will be subject to a $7.95 bank and re-processing fee. This fee will be passed onto the claimant and will be deducted from the claimants cash back payment thereafter" as per t&c above

    • +4

How about referencing the line before it:

The Promoter is not responsible for the supply of incorrect information and will not be liable for the transaction fees incurred to recall funds from an incorrect account.

So it's saying that if you screw up the account details, and they have to reverse the payment to then send to you, that you cop the $7.95 charge.

    • +2

Just get your details right and they won't need to return your funds.

  • +2

That's why I love Ozbargain. Haven't owned a steam iron yet, but I do now, and I skipped the Kmart brand as well! What an adult I've become!
