      Updated

      • Thanks :)

  • Oh…for VIC store only

  • Whats cost price on a 42" bravia, is it worth the trip? :S

I have been to one of those, Bought something and 2 weeks later, the price went down again. Its baiting.

    • That's not their fault, that's the fault that the cost price went down.

I've been to several similar events in WA (two different retailers) and it’s a complete scam. They will never be transparent with their actual costs (why would they let customers know about their cost price and essentially the massive markup that gets placed on most items). To test the theory out I went to two different sales guys for the same item at the same store, and got a different price. Perhaps this one's different, but don't be surprised if it's a complete waste of time.

    just a marketing gimmick

Isn't every sale a marketing situation?

Not worth the drive out there…

i bet they have a laugh at the suckers who present this flyer

    • Lol why?

  • because they believe they will get cost price + $1??
given the competitive nature of retail sales not everything has 'massive' markups, electronics normally have around 10-20%, whitegoods maybe around 30%, but i will say this-you cannot pay staff wages+rent+bills etc on cost price + $1, but they do make money on other things, how many times have you bought something and they ask you "would you like an extended warranty for only $XX?" that's because they make little profit on the item itself but an extended warranty is almost all profit!

  • Goodguys did the same Northside Brisbane a few weeks ago and like a fool I went along. No real bargains in fact very expensive. The only things cheap were mass purchased products like SD Cards and the like.

if a shop says i will sell you this at my cost price + XXX, will you believe them ? ofcoz not.

  • i've been able to bargain well below their so-called cost price on many occasions. I agree, these events are a scam.
test it out yourself. go to the event, but don't show them the flyer. Go to sales person and bargain as much as you can. Then go to another sales person, and ask them for cost price with the flyer. I can bet my left nut that the bargained price will be lower then the so called "cost price".

    Buyers beware!

  • If you want to show us it's not a scam, please show some so called "cost + $1" prices here.
