  • Can anybody from the last deal please confirm that these fit protected cells. I ordered an Astrolux S1 but sadly it does not fit protected Panasonics. Only options are to use my good Keeppowers (just fit) or go in unprotected!

    • (INR18650-30Q 3000mah suggested) from description

      • Thank you but my question was does it fit protected cells?

        • I bought a BLF A6 sometime ago and the body does not fit the NCR protected cells I had.

Question: will BLF A6 take Panasonic protected (product ID 90989)

Answer: I am replying to my own question. I bought an Astrolux S1 which is the same as the BLF A6 except that it is the Banggood house brand made by Manker. It arrived yesterday. And the Pana NCR 18650B fits even though it is longer than an unprotected battery.

      • +1

That's the odd part I have 2 of the Astrolux S1. One fits the Panas just fine, the other is too narrow, the extra sleeve on the protected cell stops it from sliding in, nothing to do with length. The same thing happened with the Astrolux S2, I was advised to use unprotected as flashlight has it's own protection circuit.

I'm trying to find if it is just Astrolux (Manker) which has made this change or both models.

    • I got a BLF from last deal. The tube will not fit in a protected cell. Have to contact seller to resend another larger diameter tube. The new tube's thickness is uneven (one side is thicker than opposite side). But anyway it fits all my batteries now.

      • Maybe you could ask them to send out the larger tube in the note when you place order. It is a very good torch though.

      • Thanks! Glad I didn't order another. Can the larger tube be purchased separately?

        • Haven't seen it on their site. Try contact the after sells.

        • Larger inner diameter? Don't think so. Sounds more like a quality control / luck of the draw issue.

AFAIK, the only tube you can buy separately is the 18350 short tube.

          @guyvb: I found this Astrolux S41/Astrolux S1 LED Flashlight 18650 Body Tube
https://banggood.app.link/eYTJlNZHjy I will need to check thread when I get home.

        • @wattstar: Nice one, good find. I was searching for "A6", should have included "S1" :)

        • +1

@guyvb: I received tube and it fits well, although has a slightly different finish to the s1, more glossy. Upon closer inspection the wall thickness is noticeably thick on the newer models.

      • Mine fit Panasonic NCR18650PF protected cells. It's a little bit of a squeeze to get the cell in though…

    • If they don't fit the Astrolux S1 then they won't fit the BLF A6 either, as they're the same light. That being said, the A6/S1 has low voltage protection and reverse polarity protection so protected cells are not only unneeded, but not recommended. The high current draw (especially if you perform the spring bypass mod) may trip the overcurrent protection circuit.

  • Dunno if this helps or not…

I got one of these ridiculously powerful torches from the last deal with a "Sanyo 3.7V 2800MAH 18650 Protected Rechargeable Battery" with Product ID of "909140" to power it.

Maybe one of the gurus here can say a yay or nay as to whether the Sanyo 18560 battery is an equivalent (size-wise) to the Panasonic.

Regardless, the torch is a bloody ripper!

  • Literally just bought this last night from Zapals for $34. >.<

    • I had it in my cart last night but spent a while figuring out batteries and so didn't get around to ordering it until today.

  • Shows as USD 26.95 (AUD 36.29) now.

That's a bugger. BG can be a little random with their pricing :)

. Looks like approx $AUD26 is the new standard low price point for the A6. If you're patient, just wait and it'll be back down there soon enough.
. Similarly, approx $AUD33 is the low point for the S1 (which comes with both body tubes). I see it's back up to $AUD40 today.
. Interestingly, the non-anodised silver A6 (which doesn't seem to get discounted that often) was it's usual crazy $AUD70 yesterday, but this morning it's down to $AUD29

(I know I haven't bothered with any cents in the numbers above, basically because I couldn't be faffed)

….and now the black A6 is back down to $26.86

        • Thank you, bought one.

        • Yeah showing at $19.95 USD for me right now.

  • Can someone point me in the right direction to purchase batteries.

    • There's some goodly bits of info about batteries & chargers interspersed throughout
      the comments here.

But in short - for batteries, look at something like the INR18650-30Q or the NCR or similar. It's worth paying extra for good quality cells.

For chargers, I use the Nitecore Intellichargers. Be on the lookout for fakes (google it). Banggood sells genuines.

      Hope this helps :)

      • Thanks for the info, for the batteries I was looking at these. As for the charger, I've already got a Nitecore D4.

        • Yeah, I use those. Good batteries.
