2500

Spotted this deal on a Facebook ad - basically open up an Access Advantage transaction account with ANZ and make three Visa debit purchases (in stores, online or over the phone, excludes reversals and ATM withdrawals) on the card that is linked to your ANZ Access Advantage account before 8 January 2017.

You'll then get a code to redeem a $100 Myer, Woolworths, JB Hi-Fi, David Jones, Woolworths Caltex, Coles, Flight Centre, Spa.com.au or Kmart gift card.

The account attracts a $5 monthly fee, but is waived if you deposit at least $2,000 per month into the account or meet other criteria (see below).

This offer is only available to new or existing ANZ customers, who do not have an ANZ Access Advantage account as at 13 November 2016.

*No monthly account service fee on your new account if you deposit at least $2,000 a month. Otherwise, it's a $5 fee per month.

You can also apply to waive the monthly account service fee on one nominated ANZ Access Advantage account if you:

  • Are under 25 or aged 60 or over
  • Are a full-time student at an Australian educational institution
  • Receive a disability support pension or mobility allowance from Centrelink

  • Have a combined deposit balance of $50,000 in one or more of the following ANZ accounts: ANZ Access Advantage, Access Select, Premium Cash Management, Online Saver, Progress Saver, ANZ term deposits, V2 Plus, Passbook Savings, Premier Cheque.

Offer Terms:

  • The offer is limited to one unique Reward Code per customer that can be redeemed for a Digital Reward valued at $100. Joint accounts count as one customer and are only eligible for a single unique Reward Code; and

  • Subject to meeting the eligibility criteria, an unique Reward Code will be emailed to an email address registered to the new ANZ Access Advantage account by 8 February 2017; and

  • ANZ can withdraw this offer at any time between 14 November and 18 December 2016.

    • They will email you the unique redeem code. Branch staff seems to have no idea about this promotion.

  • +2

hoping once we meet the criteria we really dont have to wait until February for the $100 giftcard as was planning to use it for some Christmas shopping

  • +3

I went to the branch to do an ID check and they made me wait too long. Every experience with this bank has been horrible. At least allow your customers to pay a fee for an appointment.

    • +2

I've had an ANZ savings account, home loan and at least three credit cards over the last 3 years and I still have to do a stupid in-branch ID check.

Also, every time I sign up for ANZ they give me a new CRN and Telecode. Pretty bad customer service.

      • +4

I believe the only reason they get you to go to the branch is so they can stitch you up with insurance and other services.

        • +1

Very true. That's when the real pain begins.

  • +1

After a long wait at the branch and finally verifying my ID.

I registered for online banking but my account is showing as Access Cheque Account not as expected Access Advantage Account.

    Are they the same ?

    • Mine says the same, and I registered via the link and im an existing customer.

      • Thanks. So nothing to worry about ?

      • Mine shows Access Advantage Cheque Account.

    • Mine also says cheque account

    • Did you receive your internet banking details by email or mail or at the branch?

      • At the branch they give you the bits and parts that you need to register for online banking.

        • Just registered over the phone, easier than going to the branch for 1.5+ hours and have them ask everything about me to sell me more crap.

  • Went to branch and activated the account by verifying ID, but in the email said new debit card need to be ordered while you were in branch, but I was told if I selected card type (Blue/Pink/Black) online, the card should be on its way. Anyone same?

    • I selected card online but branch staff said he couldn't see any card sent to me in their system so he helped me ordered one in the branch.

      • Same here. I selected card online but branch staff said he couldnt see any card sent to me in their system and helped me ordered one in the branch. My case is even worse, no card after one week. Just managed to call and staff on the phone said, no card has been ordered according to their system then I have to order one on the phone. Completely waste of time and $ on the phone ! I am not sure if the card is really send out now….perhaps need to follow up and keep my eyes open in the next 10 business days…

Sorry completely disappointed with ANZ, definitely wont use it for everyday use. I doubt their current promotion that people can get $100 without going through alot of troubles !

  • i apply via link and logged on line but it says Product type Access Cheque Account not Access Advantage Cheque Account. should i be worried or is it the same thing? might have to contact anz to find out otherwise im wasting my time.

    • mine says Access Cheque Account too.. I am worried now too..

      • +1

According to 'Terry' from their live chat:

All of our everyday transactions accounts are described on Internet Banking as Access Cheque Account

        • +3

Hilarious…why would they even use the word cheque in this day and age.

ANZ are so naff. Looking forward to making $100 off them.

    • in my account details confirmation email it was labelled an anz access advantage account. in the online banking it appears as access cheque account

  • +2

Applied online, now to sit back and wait for them to F this up somehow…

  • +2

Anyone planning on just spending 3x $0.01 transactions at the Woolworth/Coles self-serve checkouts?

    • No, just a couple of cold drinks or something probably.
      But is that even possible?

      • +4

Assuming their scales can measure 1g, you could get one small leaf of Woolies loose salad mix. At $17/kg though this would be 1.7 cents and I'm assuming rounded up to 2 cents.

        • +9

Why don't you just choose mixed payment in self check out and pay $0.01 with ANZ card?

        • @citygal: Or that… lol

        • +2

          @citygal:

Yea that's what I had in mind. Using the split payment option and obviously paying off the balance of the transaction with a 5.5% off Woolworths gift card.

        • +1

          Cheap (profanity)

        • +1

So much trouble. I just plan on making 3 x coffee purchases instead of using my normal credit card.

        • @citygal: coles self checkout terminal freezes/crashes

    • +2

3x $2 storms or $3 bbq cheeseburger+shake at HJs for me.

  • +12

Because it's anz I will be transferring 5 cents and doing 3x 1c transactions at woolies.

Second I get my gift card I'll be canceling the account. Horrible bank to deal with. I have the anz black qff cc and they can't even show you pending transactions.

    • +2

Are you just gonna give them your 2c for nothing?

      • +1

ha! I will make sure I get my 2 cents back and give them my 2 cents worth.

  • Do we have a choice of voucher or will they just email the 100$ of their own choice of company?

    • Then we’ll email you so you can choose a $100 voucher from some of Australia’s leading brands

So you can choose what voucher you want.

  • +1

If someone signed up with this link, but finds the bank staff changed their account to the Access Pensioner account (as they're over 60), do they still qualify for the gift card?

    • +1

I did exactly this. I sent a 'secure email' enquiry and I got the response:
"Unfortunately as your account was opened at your local ANZ Branch and it is an ANZ Pensioner Account you do not qualify for the promotion ANZ is offering. "

I am hoping they will give me further advice — should I close the account, open up a new Access Advantage account, and not show pension card. Perhaps I am ineligible for the promotion due to the clause "This offer is only available to new or existing ANZ customers, who do not have an ANZ Access Advantage account as at 13 November 2016."

      • you reasoning sounds logical to me, if the pensioner account is not a qualifying account then you could repeat the online application and this time get an access advantage account. possibly leave both open and do the transactions for each account to be sure. dunno, best speak to the bank.

they are listed as different products in https://www.anz.com.au/content/dam/anzcomau/documents/pdf/sa…

      • +1

It seems different customers are getting different experiences - one customer after told they must get the pensioner account, said no, the bank staff disagreed, but agreed upon seeing what it says on the website (namely that those over 60 can apply for a fee waiver).

Another customer was transferred into the pensioner account as you were. (eg first logging in it said Access Cheque, then the pensioner account after logging in a few days later)

  • +4

Oh ANZ, you fail so hard. I already have an ANZ Black Rewards account, so I didn't have to show ID to get the Travel Adventures account, but as per that thread, their service was sub-par and I'm not convinced that my 40k velocity points are on the way. Anyway, they gave me access to $10000 of THEIR money with no extra ID check. Yet when I signed up to the Acces Advantage account, I had to go to the branch to sign something and show my ID to be able to give them MY money (although the letter I recieved said I could sort it out over the phone, but when I called they said I had to go in branch). I finally recieved the card, only to see that it isn't a Visa debit card, so won't allow me to meet the requirements of this deal. Time to call them again!

Edit: I used their automated system to say I needed to order a new card, so you'd think they would connect my call to the right person. I explained the issue to the first guy, i.e. I didn't receive a Visa debit card, but rather a normal one. He put me on hold for 5 minutes, only to come back and say "I have confirmed that your card is not a Visa debit card". YES I KNOW THAT!!! Then he put me through to someone else so I could order the new card, and of course he didn't explain the issue or pass on my details, so I had to start from scratch.

  • i've got a card (which i ordered in branch) but no pin. does it arrive in the post as well?

    • Yes it does. So inefficient…

  • +2

My access advantage is called "Access Cheque" on the internet banking site. Is that normal?

    • +1

      mine says access advantage

    • Mine is also access cheque.

      • Did this issue solve?

  • so has anyone made their 3 purchases yet?

    • Yes, I made 3 transactions totalling to 0.59 at the same time yesterday.

    • Yep. 3 x 5c transactions made today.

      • +1

do you use saving or credit when paying, don't usually use my money for purchase only CC and not sure which one for this offer?

  • I opened account as part of this promotion. My account has been opened after applying online but it has been restricted when I try to use it.

I sent message to online team and they advised I need to visit branch to get myself identified. I spoke with customer service over the phone and he was quite rude quoting it is governemt requirement and does not matter if account was opened online and I must visit branch.

My frustration is I am existing customer with home loan, credit card and online saver account. Why they are asking me to get myself identified in branch for opening a new account?

I put my customer ref while opening account so they correctly linked it with internet banking when I received account opening email. Not sure what is going on here!

    • Same here. See my comment above. The letter saying it was restricted said to call or go in branch, but when you call, they just tell you that you have to go in branch. The people in the branch were surprised and thought it must not have linked correctly to my existing profile, but they checked, and it had. They barely looked at my ID; I'm not sure if they even wanted it, but I had my driver's license and ANZ credit card out when I sat down with them. They just printed a document, asked me to sign it, and then asked if I wanted the account linked to my existing card. I said no, and they ordered me a debit card, but not the correct type since it has to be Visa debit. Again, I had already selected the card during the sign up process. So inefficient.

    • It seems my card is blocked as well. What is the point being able to apply/activate your cards online when you still have to go into branch to get it unblocked -_- Sometimes I feel ANZ is very inefficient in how they do things.

  • Any reason why they wouldn't let you do id check at a post office just like any other bank?

  • How come I can not do anything with this account. I cant even transfer money out of it!! WTF..

It says Cheque Account and not the access advantage.

    • Same for me, judging from the other posts it seems to be related to an id check but I never saw the requirement or option to supply it, probably because I'm an existing customer.

And +1 to all the worst bank in Australia comments.

    • Wife's experience:
      - apply online, approved, but have to go to branch to ID even though she did this less than two weeks ago for a credit card
      - ID in branch, activate card, and transfer $2k in to avoid account fees
      - try to spend on card a few times, doesn't work
      - activate again online, try again, still doesn't work
      - ring up, and they actually activate card (not sure what the issue was)
      - put 3 transactions on visa debit, finally works
      - try to transfer remaining funds back to external account, can't do transfer or bpay
      - send secure message, a couple of days later can finally transfer out but limited to $1k per day
      - cant seem to schedule transactions, but transfer funds out over two days

      Good fun.

  • +1

ANZ are terribad. They hold onto your money for extra days unlike other banks when transferring funds out.

Sent a bank mail request via ANZ Internet banking to close an account only to to be informed an account can only be closed by visiting a branch or over the phone.

    • You're not going to wait for $100 voucher?

    • +1

Why are you quoting from the NZ website ?

  • +1

Anyone receive promotion code to redeem gift card?

    • Probably need to wait till next Feb.
Anyone took a screenshot of the promotion in case ANZ forget this at that time.

      • -4

As the promo ends 8 Jan, and codes will be received by 8 Feb at the latest, my guess is you'll receive the code within a month of making the eligible purchases.

    • Spent my 3 transaction on Friday. Still waiting on the email from ANZ

  • +2

just saw this one today. will wait until tomorrow to sign up so I don't get stung with a monthly fee for November :-)

    • Just came across this too and thought the same thing!

  • -4

Thinking of cancelling my ANZ Black card soon. Also signed up recently for this ANZ Access. Will this impact on receiving this $100 Gift card?

  • -1

Thanks Op. Another easy $100 to make!

    • +7

It's a part-time job keeping up with all these free cash & gift card bank promotions

  • -7

After opening the new account and received the debit card, I can see access advantage cheque account in my anz account. Is this valid to receive $100 gift card? Anyone's help is highly appreciated
    Thanks in advance

    • +3

Because this hasn't been asked again and again

  • -1

    Hi guys,
It maybe only apply to my wife account. Between the email confirmation mentioning that both Access and Online Saver account details setup and the actual in their banking system, it is different. Eg. Access account number is 1234, online number is 4567, but in their banking system, the Access number is 4567 and online is 1234. What are they doing ? Anyone has same issue ?

  • +1

Thanks for the 7 negs guys. Great help

    • +2

      10 at last count

  • +6

My god anz would have to be one of the worst bank experiences I've ever had.

They just do not understand the concept of consistency and customer service. You speak to 10 different people and get 10 different answers.

  • -3

is this eligible to buy stuffs on ebay/paypal ?

  • +3

Has anyone received any confirmation via email, phone or at the branch? The incompetence of ANZ has me worried, we could be waiting for nothing.

    • I've just spoken to someone in branch, we'll be receiving a confirmation email after February 8th with an activation code.

  • +1

Not yet… says by February, so I would wait until after this date before making any enquiries etc.

But given ANZ's track record I would expect when you call after this date they will have no idea about this promotion.

  • +2

Received the following text from ANZ

"Remember to shop 3 times with your new Visa Debit card by 08 Jan 2017 to qualify for your $100 voucher! t&cs apply anz.co/Tjlp3073T5Z"

    • Does your account say Access Cheque Account or Access Advantage Account?

      • I received the same text. Mine is called an Access Advantage Cheque Account

  • Mine states Access Cheque Account. However, I got an email confirmation from ANZ that it is actually Access Advantage Account.

  • I applied for this account yesterday (15th Dec) online but my application is still under processed. Just wondering I will still be qualified for this bonus $100 if my account/application is approved next week. The Term and Conditions says "Open an account by 18th Dec (this Sunday)"

  • +2

i did 3x 1 cent split payments at coles i wonder if thats enough to qualify?

  • +2

wooooo hoooo, just got $100 voucher in an email from ANZ, just in time for Christmas

    Time to cancel this account!!!!

  • +1

  • Redeemed wish gift card. Thanks OP

  • My wife received the email, but mine has not as yet. I almost delete the email as I thought it is a scam email, but lucky I read this posting.

  • YESSSSSSS they didn't even make $5 off me from the monthly fee.

    So long ANZ.

  • +1

Got my $100 voucher, anyone know how to cancel the account ?

I can't find any link and info on their site on how to do so!
