        • Probably. There'll always be a few Whingy McWhingeface's. It's like…statistics and stuff.

        • Touche… I'm sure the TV is fine!

          Enjoy :)

That priducts review website is an absolute shocker.

The Haven for idiotic whiners who don't know how to operate devices, combined with opposition reps who post bad reviews against each other.

I would never take any notice of any so-called "review" on that site.

        • Most people who'd bother writing about something on there would be someone who is pissed off enough to bother doing that or something who had such an amazing experience that they HAVE TO ABSOLUTELY share with the world.

  • +2

This TV is a good pick for offering increased amusement.

    Fantastic.

  • So this is 4K? Does it mean it supports PS4 pro?

    • I would say. The question is do the games you want to play have a pro compatible version

    • Spent some time in JB HiFi chatting to the TV guy (for what it was worth), and he confirmed that it does support PS4 Pro. As a comparison they had it at $1,498 and he offered to do it for $1,234 incl del. He was suggesting it was a great TV especially at that price. So at $956 it's a steal!

      • +1

My local JB has had it stickered at $1,234 for the last week.

I almost bought it at that price, but decided to wait as I knew with previous deals it could be had for <$1,200 - didn't think I'd grab it at $956!!

        • and there I was thinking I was special and a good negotiator… (!)
As an FYI this was the JB HiFi store at the top of Pitt St Mall in Sydney.

        • @smifter:

Yeah, I think they dropped it to match TGG $1,295 offer.

          Glad I held out though!

    • yes

  • Thanks, purchased!

  • Is this TV meant to be able to rotate on the stand, as my one doesn't rotate all?

    • +1

No, This stand is fixed, in the same old triangle style. It's fixed and matte black I believe. This price is unbelievable.

      • and it's a real bitch to screw in all the way. gonna mount in on the wall anyway. but still..

  • +2

Don't forget your 1.25% cashrewards cashback for that extra $11.95 back!!

    • +2

      FFS i forgot.

      • I nearly forgot but was saved by the chrome plugin!

  • Anyone have experience using this as a monitor?

    • i'm using it right now :)

so yes, for about 5 minutes.

      • Just the usual slew of questions lol:
        4:4:4 chroma?
        HDMI2.0?
        Input lag?
Could you possibly try 1440p output if possible and see whether it works?

        Thanks.

        • +5

colour: i really don't know. currently investigating as it wasnt a major purchasing decision for me. if it's got colours i'm happpy. so far, in nvidia settings i don't see it. only YCBCR 4:2:0. but in 1440p AND back now to 4k, it had it in the options so it might be refresh rate dependent? or a weird selection bug. i don't know if it's ACTUALLY displaying it in this colour range. needs more investigation. i'm going to wait until OLED screens come down to around this price in a few years, then i'll start obsessing about colours :)

HDMI 2.0: yes. i am using it now with a HDMI cable (2.0b) from officeworks ($4) and it's working fine with 60hz, 59hz, 50hz, 30hz etc. i did notice some minor graphical artifacts, but it comes and goes. i dropped it to 50hz and it stopped. now it's at 60hz and it hasn't happened since. for the record, this happened on my aldi 55" i'm returning, so it might be a cable issue, or frequency.

input lag: it's why i bought this one. in game mode, not noticeable and i would say suitable for casual gamers. for me it's fine, single player PC gamer here, and occasional ps4 etc. might play through RDR again sometime soon. theres a website with the figures. they claim about 20 something ms.

1440p works but only 30hz max default in windows. i think this is a limitation of using TVs as monitors. proper monitors have a wider range of resolutions with no 'smoothing', but also a wider range of refresh rates (however, apps might be able to push that, eg. switchresx on mac)

i dont expect the world for something this price and quality, but it's definitely better than the bauhn crap for gaming/pc use.

upscaling is definitely better and it doesn't have the colour banding bullshit i saw on the bauhn. you know, the photoshop filters you would apply in high school to make stuff look like it's melting lol

        • @insular: Thanks so much. I've just bought one after reading your reply,

        • +1

@epicttiimm: scary. i hope you're happy with it else you might blame me ;)

so far so good. just rebooted into hackintosh and enabled retina mode. even at 30hz it's OK for desktop use. so if that colour profile actually works (i cant say 100%) then it should be usable for some image editing/photoshop even at a lower refresh rate.

        • +1

I have this TV and a PS4 Pro. The P4P reckons this Sammie TV can do HDCP 2.2 on any HDMI input, so should be HDMI 2.0.

The other gotcha is YUV420 is on any HDMI input, but only HDMI1 supports RGB. The P4P even notified me when I plugged it into HDMI1 that I could bump up the colour mode. HDMI1 is labelled as 'HDMI/DVI' so it makes no sense. edit: I also had to go into an Expert menu mode of the TV to turn on 'HDR colour' for HDMI1, which is off by default(!).

I am using game mode and I don't notice any input lag. In fact I seem to be winning more in Fifa so maybe less input lag than my old TV?

          1440p yuck.

I am still struggling to get ARC working with my Onkyo amp. So I've fallen back to using optical. Although not having true 5.1 on SmartTV makes me sad.

  • Thanks OP, purchased!

  • +5

Thanks OP. Totally wasn't expecting to buy a TV today ;(

    • +2

      Neither, but these things happen!

  • Thanks, bought it

  • I just realised my bedroom does not have an antenna…, do I need it in order to watch FTA television?

    • +4

No, they work like your phone does with wireless charging now. As long as the tv is near a wall with any type of cables in it, then it will pick a signal up from them.

      • Now that would be cool!

      • hahahh LOL for the day. Thanks!

  • +3

Thanks OP. Bought one but now have to think of an excuse to say to my mum. Oops i mean my wife!!!

  • -6

a product cost 1k and almosst 200 upvote??i bet this is hell of a deal.

  • Good price OP. Really wanted one but our Pana 50" plasma refuses to die (great PQ though), and can't get the other half to agree to sell it on gumtree :-(

    • +1

      Panasonic plasma's are awesome.

      • Absolutely agree with you on this. The colour reproduction and smoothness on the plasma is unmatched by our other Sony/LG LCD screens that we have. It is our primary movie theatre screen, though I want to upsize it (happy to spend up to $2500 even though this Samsung's value is difficult to pass by).

    • I got a pana plasma 50st60 (50") too and the missus says it's not much of an upgrade…wanting to change to something bigger. Was hoping for a 65 or 60" but not sure if I should wait for another sale or…

  • +2

Thanks kats. I was looking for a decent TV after buying that awful bauhn 55inch. Keep up the good work.

    • +1

Thanks but my gut tells me I am a one hit wonder!

  • +1

Would this TV be better than my 5 year old Sony Bravia LCD LED FULL HD 3D TV which I had purchased new for $2k back then? Considering selling it to get this new Samsung.. Thanks guys!

  • +1

Grabbed one. Been tossing up whether to go for this model or spend more for an 8000 series.

At this price it is a no brainer and I'll wait for OLED technology to drop in price before upgrading again.

    • +1

      My exact thinking.

  • +1

I was just about to pull the trigger on the 60" but how can you resist this price! $600 cheaper than the 60"!

Here's a tip, I also bought a Samsung Blu-Ray player at the same time for $71!

    Thanks OP

    • Same as you. I'm after 60" inch TV. But $600 difference for extra 5 inch …Tempting to get the 55" inch. Can't make my decision :(

  • Anyone know of a cheap and slim wall mount for this?

  • Just checked and the code works to bring the price of the Sony smart LED 65" down to $1,476.34 (PU) … tempted.

BTW, it appears that sometimes the code is CGUYS20 and sometimes it is GGUYS20.

  • Just got this. Been looking for a good value tv and this is way to good to pass up.

I've heard that the sound is a bit poor, any thoughts on a good sound bar from good guys ebay store that would go well with this?

  • +2

Any good for XBOX One S and PS4 Pro HDR modes?

    • Yep, thats why I bought it.

  • Also is home 3D completely dead in TVs. I actually enjoy an occasional 3D movie or 3D PS3 game.

  • Pardon ignorance, but what difference between Samsung….6000w model & …..7000w model I appreciate costs about $500 more, but for what features are you paying the extra $'s?

    Thanks for any info.

    • +1

      Taken from RTINGS:
"The KU6300 and the KU7000 are almost the same TV, but with the addition of the wide color gamut on the KU7000. As you are watching HDR content you may notice the increased saturation, but or most people this isn't worth the extra money."

    • Apart from the wider colour gamut, the only other notable feature is Bluetooth, which some people care about if you want to wirelessly connect to your soundbar etc.

  • yeah, thanks for reply…….dont think worth extra $'s IMHO …….will press the button on the $956 model.
    Thanx OP.

  • Did compare on the 2 models in question.
Seems the dearer one (7000W) is marginally thinner, shorter but deeper !!
& heavier, but doesnt support 3D.

Wont worry me, 1 less 6000W now. LOL

    Cheers

  • I bought this 4 months ago from costco for $1700. How do I bargain at this price. Can I return this to Costco.

    • -2

Just bring it back and say it is faulty.

      • Wont they ask me to go to Samsung as its under warranty

    • +1

Costco have an awesome return policy. Just say you weren't happy with it.

  • Picked up mine this morning. Choose your vehicle wisely because they're too wide to fit across the back seat of an FG Falcon.

    • I've picking mine up this afternoon in a ASX (Small SUV) hoping it fits

      • Anything that's hatchback/SUV shaped should be fine I imagine. I expected it to go in because the 55" Akai I got from DSE fit with heaps of room to spare. I guess Samsung uses larger boxes.

    • I'll be collecting mine tomorrow. Will confirm that it fits in an XC90. Bloody better do!

    • I picked up mine last night using a Hyundai Santa Fe and had heaps of room, that said it's a rather large SUV (7 seater).

  • First time posting here but I was just wondering how this TV or really any 4K TV looks with SD content such as Foxtel and free to air? I'm concerned that it will look blurry and almost unwatchable?

    • I'm in a similar boat as you mate, I'm moving soon to a place without an Antenna so my main viewing on it would be Foxtel, Youtube, Netflix, Stuff off a USB (as well as gaming) Never been happy with my Sony Bravia, sound is god-damn awful on it. I'm not after world beating sound but every TV besides the Sony has been perfectly fine for me, I don't want to buy a soundbar.

So is this good for what I'll be using it for?

      • Bought the 4K Panasonic last TGG ebay sale. FTA and Youtube looks fine. The one looked awful was the soccer highlight from SBS on demand so far. Not sure what resolution that highlight was (maybe lower than SD) and I imagine it'd look awful on any big screen anyway. Around this 1K price bracket, LG, Samsung or Panny looks similar to me when I went to store last time.

    • +1

I can say it looks good, tried free to air TV last night and it appears to upscale it, wasn't blurry but you can still tell it's lower quality signal compared to Netflix HD content (OMG soooo pretty!!!!)
Really happy with this purchase, thanks OP!!!

  • +1

Awesome price OP, good work. Have been putting off buying a TV for a while now and really tempted to pull the trigger on this one!

The only thing stopping me is the 8-bit panel. Is it really worth spending loads more to get a 10-bit panel? Is it a noticeable difference overall? :)

  • Hi folks Does anyone think buying 5 year extra warranty with this when pick up at store?

    • howmuch is it?

      • HI its
        162 FOR 3 YEAR OR
        202 FOR 5 YEAR

    • Google ACL

      • +1

        Australian Christian Lobby?

        :P

      • Does ACL cover 5 years if the TV breaks down?

        • 5 years is a reasonable life expectation.

  • Was holding out for the price of the Hisense 55M7000 to drop closer to $1000 but might have to pick up one of these instead.

  • Purchased - thanks OP!

  • Keep coming back to this deal but really I'm looking for a good tv that's not quite so big and also a few hundred dollars less. Can anyone recommend one please? Maybe 40-45"? I did look at the GVA one posted but from people's reviews it doesn't sound like it is actually that great a tv. That said I will be upgrading from a 21" aldi model so possible see a lot greater from that perspective.

    • Thats a hard wishlist if you ask me! Maybe try Kogan or something :O ? Might be better than an Aldi TV.

      • Good and cheap rarely goes together, lol. But since you're using 21" Aldi (there's such thing?), why not picking up current Aldi one? For a couple of hundred dollar less you could even get bigger TV than this one (non-smart one, the smart feature is likely useless on Aldi's anyway).

        • Haha thanks guys, thought it was worth an ask. Not overly excited about our aldi TV so probably wouldn't buy another (although apparently they are just rebadged so not all the same). Keen for smart TV but can do that externally. Happy to pay around 5-600. Will have to wander into a store one day I guess and have a look what's around (let's be honest, will probably just keep an eye on ozb until something comes up).

  • +5

Didn't think i'd be buying a TV today too, great find OP!!! Black ops time to swap old Samsung 55" FHD out with the new one she wont know the difference…

  • Hi Folks does it come with smart remote or normal remote

    • Normal remote

  • -2

Does anyone know Weather it having inbuilt antenna OR Where i can find better indoor antenna

  • Anyone got confirmation to pick up their order yet? When should we expect to pick it up?

    • Bought at 6pm last night and had confirmation this morning around 10am

    • Purchased at 13:50, received confirmation for pickup at 16:30. Chatswood store. Hope yours comes through soon if you haven't got it yet.

  • +2

Thx op…brought one. :) Hope it don't catch on fire.

    • Where did you bring it?

  • I am probably asking a lot but does this TV have AC wireless?
