  • Would the 6gb be available on activating a new starter pack on this deal, or only upon recharging it?

    • +2

When you sign up for automatic recharge you can get it on activation.

Best deal at the moment is 6Gb for the $10 starter kit on "Pre-Paid Plus". Deal expires 30/01/17. But you must use it within 7 days.

Credit to Trent86 for that post too…

  • Wonder if can cancel auto recharge before end of 30 days & still get 6GB on a $30 Starter Pack??

Only states requirement for setting up auto-payment (Critical information summary)…

(Still have a few '$30' Starter Pack bought at $1 each about a year back needing to use by April.)

Are Google Play purchases still possible with Data Pass? (No longer available on Prepaid Plus)

    • +2

Possible but there's no recharge credit with this offer.

        Thanks again sween64.
Expect can set up auto-payment, later cancel & get double data (6GB).

Hard to keep up with the changes, and some people maybe on the old Data Pass1 with credit to spend, whereas Data Pass 2 has NO credit.

Telstra Pre-paid Data Pass II – released Oct 25, 2016
Unlike the previous offer this only includes a data balance.
This offer excludes usage such as credit to use on Australian and International calls and SMS, third-party content or subscription purchases, all use while overseas & pay-as-you-go data.
Roll over your unused data when you recharge before your expiry date.

Oh well, as don't need that much data - I'll probably trade in credit on last 6 Starter Packs for $100 with Rebatr.

That's exactly what I had to do to get this offer. In my case I bought a modem for $109 (comes with 5GB), recharged $30, saved credit card details, setup automatic recharge (hint set the recharge date for a day or two into the future if you want the extra GB right away), and now today another $30 come out.

I now have almost 14GB of data to use by Christmas, but all of that data will rollover into January if I don't use it.

  • I activated a $30 SIM pack on data pass using 24x7 chat, and got 3GB. I asked about the 6GB and they said I would have to recharge it using a credit card and get 3GB again, then my CC details will be saved and I can then set up an automatic recharge. When the automatic recharge happens I would then get 6GB. So it's the 3rd round of data that gets doubled if you use a SIM pack. I imagine that if you used a $2 pack then you could get it to happen on the 2nd round of data.

I'd phone them up on 1258880 and argue the point there's noting in the T&C about that.

      • you can argue but they are unlikely to resolve it. they are doing the same with $10 sim starters, they will only put the 6gb if its a new pack

      • It was totally unexpected to me when setting up a new service, but they have sufficiently covered themselves on https://www.telstra.com.au/broadband/mobile-broadband/prepai…, mentioning that a saved payment method is required:

Get up to 6GB for $30 with Automatic Scheduled Monthly Recharge on Pre-Paid Data Pass II.

All for use in Aus. within 30 days. Automatic Scheduled Monthly Recharge bonus only
available on $30 Month Pass. Saved payment method required before opting in.

Then in the critical information summary it says:

A saved payment method is required before opting in to Automatic Scheduled Monthly Recharge
        – you can set up your Automatic Scheduled Monthly Recharge via the MyAccount, 24x7 or by
        visiting m.telstra.com

        • just get a reloadable coles mastercard

  • now an annual pass is $150. steep………

  • The best thing about this deal is that the data automatically rolls over.

No expiry on rollovers, no limits on how much you can rollover. I have this in writing from livechat.

I understand i'm paying $360 per year, which is really not that much these days, but I'm getting 72GB of data over the year for that.

The only thing that would stop my constant rollover of data is if my credit card expired and I hadn't updated it.

That's awesome, I really don't have to worry about it and I can take this away with me on rural trips and just use it.

  • Shouldn't this be marked as Expired by now .. ?
