Bugaboo Cameleon 3 Base $931 in Store Only @ David Jones

80

Noticed David Jones are clearing their old Bugaboo Cameleon 3 stock at really good prices, $931 down from RRP $1330. It's sold out online but thought I'd call a local store today just in case and to my surprise they had 3 in stock. Baby bunting or other stores may price match if they have old stock and you can locate DJ store stock nearby.

This is not the late 2016/2017 model with the leatherette handles but you can buy genuine leather covers for $70-$80 delivered. The one I picked up was a Jan 2016 model.

This is the base model so you'll need to buy the tailored fabric set. Baby Bunting are selling these on special currently at $135.

Ended up with a complete Cameleon for $931 + 135 = $1066. Will be adding leather covers for $70 to bring the total to $1136. Any new mothers or expectant mothers will know it's pretty difficult to find at this price. Hope there's some stock left near you.

Seriously. You'd be a fool to buy new. Gumtree will save you $600-$700 for a V3.

The average second hand v3 does not go for the $400-$300 mark you mentioned. They regularly go for $700-$900 second hand. With the cost of getting new liners you're looking at close to $1k if you can find one near you.

Not sure why buying new at 30% discount makes me a fool. Some people prefer the full warranty that new products provide along with the comfort that the item hasnt been neglected and has been in a smoke and allergen free environment.

Just an FYI for parents to be, this model scored poorly on Choice.com.au at 32%.
That rating is from paid content so I can't link it, although this article highlights problems with this model and a number of other prams; http://www.kidspot.com.au/health/family-health/safety/breaki…

    • Thanks for the info. This is a bit of a worry

    • just for interests sake…what does the Uppababy Alta get?

      • UPPAbaby Alta ($722)
When loaded at the maximum recommended weight limit (23kg), the pram tipped over before reaching a 12 degree slope when the seat was in reverse position for both upright and reclined modes across the slope.

There's good and bad for every product .. bought a bugaboo pram 4 tears ago and it has lasted til now and weve used it every week for the past 4 years. Still going strong. Only downside is that it doesnt fold to a small package. But we manage.

  • I was given a Bugaboo chameleon when my son was born 2 years ago and absolutely hate it! It drives me crazy that it's in two parts, it's heavy and takes up my entire car boot. I'll admit it travels over rough terrain really well and is certainly decent quality but I recently replaced it with a Mountain Buggy Nano and have never looked back. So much easier to have a stroller which folds up and down into a tiny package with one action.
