[Pre Order] Redsbaby SKIP³ Travel Pram + Bonus Rain Cover & UPF50+ Sunshade $499 + Shipping @ Redsbaby

110

The new version of the SKIP travel pram just launched and Redsbaby is offering two accessories included as a launch special.

Note this is a preorder as shipping will only take place from 20 March onwards.

Redsbaby is not available in brick and mortar stores though they have a 30 day "trial" policy and they are at the various baby expos.

This travel pram is relatively unique in the market in that it caters for newborns with a near lie flat position, plus they also sell a bassinet option for an additional $150 for total lie flat (recommended for sleeping for up to 6 months of age).

The third version of the SKIP improves on the previous model by being slightly lighter, having an easier opening / closing mechanism, and a much bigger storage basket (from 5kg to 8kg and significantly increased volume).

The increased basket size and bassinet option pretty much makes this an all rounder pram if you're okay with the smaller wheels (off-roading not really an option).

  • Decent price. How does it compare to the YoYo?

The folded dimensions of the SKIP exceed the Qantas carry on spec in two dimensions, which is maximum 56 x 36 x 23 (115 lcm). The folded dimensions of the YOYO exceed only in one dimension. In practice you would get away with both a lot of the time.

Wow Thankyou. Regular flying so I think it’s not worth chancing it - never had an issue with yoyo except once when they weighed it and we had nappies and food stuffed in bag!

I have a Redsbaby Skip pram as well and have flown on multiple destinations (domestic and international) with Qantas. There is no issue at all with what you mentioned above (pram and the nappy bag). The luggage compartment size is enough for the pram. They will just ask you to fold and put the pram inside the bag during boarding.

You’ll be fine. We have taken our Skip pram on Fiji Airways, BA, Vueling, Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Virgin, Jetstar & never been asked once to check it.

You should be fine assuming that you are travelling on a 737/A320 size aircraft. I bring my babyzen yoyo and they will always ask at the check in counter if you are checking it in or bringing it aboard and I tell them it is a carry on pram and they dont question it. The only time I have had issue is flying on an Embraer E190 as the overhead bins are slightly smaller than the usual bins you find on the larger aircraft. So usually it goes under the seat but there have been a few times where I've been given grief about it or they flat out won't let me bring it on board at the check in gate. Once I am actually at the aircraft the staff could care less as I've basically got the pram folded up already and it's about the size of a wider carry on luggage. Some of the staff have even offered to put it in the business class bins so that if fits better.

  • Would like to know as well as we need one for travel.

I have the skip2 and it is amazing for travelling and for I'd say kids older than 1.

    • Airplane foldable?

  • Wonder if they offered more 'gifts' with it from the PBC expo today.

For us a big benefit over the previous model is the inclusion of the (optional) bumper bar.

    • What do you see as the advantage of the bumper bar?

I discussed with my wife and she didn't think we needed it or that it would get annoying to get the kid in and out of the pram.

Keen to hear what you think the benefit would be because I could still modify my order.

For us, the one hand fold and the bigger basket size are the big winners over the previous version.

We got the Cybex Orfeo travel pram for $400 and it's been amazing. Lightweight, solidly built and folds up to fit in the plane's overhead compartment. It's better than the Skip2 that we tried IMO.

What won you over about the Cybex Orfeo?

      • +1

Mainly the light weight, easy one-handed folding and small folded size - perfect for carry-on on a plane. The build quality is also top notch, it feels more solid and handles better than any other travel pram we tried. The harness is easy to use too.

        • +1

The harness does look easy to use! The Orfeo looks like a great option though it seems to be six months plus only which is a shame.

  • Got the skip2 on sale for $330 i think. Pretty great but i’d be hesitant at $500.

  • Plenty of good value yoyo on fb marketplace and will hold their resale values, even the accessories.

  • Need a bumper bar

    • It's available as an accessory for $30.

  • Would a less than 1 yr old need this? We going to taipei and korea, so figuring out if it is better than a carrier?

    • How long is your trip? After a couple of hours of my five week old in a carrier I’m getting pretty gassed.

      • 2 weeks, in total

  • Any thoughts on this compared to the Minu v3?
