  • Great value, noisy, unreliable.

Whilst not considered trade quality, I believe these units are perfectly positioned in the market for home use. The price is right, care to share any reviews on their reliability?

While I admit I haven't researched reliability, mine is going on 10 years old. I've used it to pump up countless car and bike tyres, use an air gun as a duster, power rattle guns, even spray painted a fence where the duty cycle was pretty close to 100% for about 3 hours. It got pretty hot, but it's still going strong.

      Care to share your story?

      • Got the same one about 5 years ago. It was leaking oil right out of box. Replacement unit seems OK for light job like spray painting, duste, and tyre inflation. I'm pretty sure the neighbors was not too impressed about the noise. It always used as a spare unit now, I still could not find replacement of the crumbled sum plug; both valves changed due to leaking about 2nd year.

Even when new it never got enough air flow for job like vacuum coolant change or power bleeding brakes. Even the 180LPM same brand I've borrowed from a mate struggles. Lucky found a 20+ year old belt drive does the job like a charm.

As I said, it is a great value compressor for light duty works around home. Same as all tools, you get what you paid for.

      • Got mine today and was suprised of the quality. Better than expected. Is actually quieter than my Mc Millan 13cfm belt drive l had some 10 years back. As a bonus l got the 16 piece Air impact wrench kit instead of just the impact wrench. Did not realize until l had got home and viewed all the items. Bonus ;)

  • +1 For Tony
My mate has had this one for maybe 5 years too. I've borrowed it several times and it's been used mainly for rattle guns and tyre inflation without issue. Haven't seen it used for painting.

It is noisy for sure, but haven't seen reliability issues with the normal expected home use over a 5 year period

I was at Masters today and saw a 2.0HP 25L compressor for about $100, which is not a bad deal.
