I've used these gift cards to pay for Telstra Event Tickets. Regular Ticket effectively costs $10 ($12.50 with Telstra discount less 20% discount from gift card).

    • Thanks… missed that! Updated post

I would be careful buying giftcards for event cinemas from third parties, they have stung people before when the third party didn't pay them and they just blocked all the cards. Village don't care about customer service

ExperienceThis and Event Cinemas are owned by the same company.

      • As @elieb said these are Event cinema gift cards. I haven't had any issues using these vouchers even in conjunction to other specials.

I have bought from this place before and they worked fine :)

  • Do you know if this works with student discounts?

    • +1

It should as it's not a promotion code but is entered as any other payment method. I've used it with the $8 movie ticket promo on event and it's worked perfectly.

  • Be aware that event cinemas are rip off merchants extraordinaire. In addition to the $4 "handling" fee they charge for all purchases on their website, if you use a voucher there is an additional $4 fee, per ticket. At least there was when I bought Dr strange tix this week.

So when I bought vouchers, when I went to use them I had to pay an additional twenty bucks on four tickets.

    • Really? If so this is not very good deal

      • +1

No fee if you get the tickets at the cinema

        • Yes but you can't buy telstra tickets

        • +2

@lufee: if you book with Telstra thanks there is no booking fee charged on the website

    • +2

What? I've only seen the $1.20 per ticket fee for online tickets. Never had a $4 handling fee or $4 voucher fee before.

I agree they're ripoff merchants though.

    • I purchased tickets through the website using Telstra Thanks and the fee is always waived. No booking fee and no voucher fee. So total cost of booking is only $12.50? Maybe you went to a vmax session? Or maybe it was a 3D surcharge? Definetly wasn't a voucher fee.

Ah, could well have been v max, I wasn't really paying attention. The four dollar handling fee has been standard for ages, though. Used to be credit card fee but the changed the name to avoid getting in trouble with accc.

        • From it's website:

Please note a booking fee is charged per ticket/car booked online. $1.20 per standard or Vmax ticket and $3.25 per Gold Class ticket. If required, 3D glasses fee is $1.00 per ticket for all 3D ticket types.

          Nowhere near $4

          @Love a bargain:

I don't know what to tell you dude, I did this yesterday with four tix purchased from experience this, I paid four dollars extra for each ticket (I'm guessing the v max surcharge) plus a four dollar handling fee.

If handling is per ticket, not transaction (why?) then yes, one times four is four bucks.

@paddy567: these are gift cards used as credit not vouchers/tickets

Used to be $10 a ticket, can't believe these guys are charging almost $30 for full price ticket, you could just buy a bluray for that price.

Awesome deal, thanks OP for posting. Great for when I'm socially inclined to go to the cinemas.
