Century Deep Cycle 100Ah N70T Battery $169.36 @ Supercheap Auto

190

Just spotted this in the latest SCA catalog. Seems like a good price compared to other retailers. Could be handy if looking for some deep cycle power for summer camping.

    If you are in Adelaide:

Crazy cheap prices on Century Batteries. Thought it was too good to be true until I went in and bought from there.

They're just a little car workshop that happens to sell damn cheap batteries.

  • Would this be OK to add in series to a month old 105ah battery?

    • Only if you need 24 volts.

      • Yes I want a 24v battery bank for my solar panels.

If you are interested in Century Yuasa batteries, and are lucky enough to live in Brisbane, their factory at Carole Park has a little shop that sells factory seconds. I bought my last battery from them, it had a scratch on the plastic case - paid $100 compared to RRP of $179.

Give them a call first as their stock seems to fluctuate a fair bit. 07 3361 6705, or email [email protected].

It certainly isn't old stock. When I first rang they were out of stock of what I needed - he said ring back in a few days. They have a huge factories, and if a scratch is all that is needed to be a second, they have lots of seconds coming through.

I rang back in a week and they had 8 of the batteries I needed.

I didn't ask about the warranty, but I doubt it would have no warranty. They can't exclude your statutory rights under the Australian Consumer Laws.

          No warranty on blemished stock

  • $66 cheoer than the equivalent 75Ah battery.
And yes, is a good price for the 100Ah.

  • Just a question for those who have knowledge about car batteries. My car battery is working fine with no issue if its used daily. But lately when i dont use the car for a week or two it will go flat and will need a jumpstart. Should i get a new one? Or just remove the cables if im not going to use the car? I bought the car used last year and im not sure when the battery was replaced(Commodore VE).

    • You're battery is clearly not working well. It's unable to hold a charge. Replace it before you get stuck in a car park after a trip to the movies.

    • Its not uncommon. Depends whats still drawing current over the two weeks (and how far its driven when started. Alternators are pretty ordinary battery chargers, they are good at keeping a charged battery charged. Id plug it into a battery maintainer charger, not just a charger as it doesnt stop feeding it. A maintainer charger will shut off when charged, and kick back in when it drops to 12.4v. Look at a compact ctek or the like, and sit in the engine bay when at home.

Depends how long its been going on for, the battery may be damaged anyway now. So if you replace it keep a charger in mind.

    • There are two possibilities here - either your battery is close to the end of its working life, or your car is taking too much current when sitting. If your alternator is bad or your accessories take too much current (cheap aftermarket alarms etc can cause this) even a good battery will be drained.

    • Even if your battery was fine before it will probably near the end of its life now. Batteries don't like getting fully discharged and doing it multiple times will damage it even more.

    • Go to battery world or repco and get them to test it. They offer this service free. My guess would be its either not a large enough battery for the car (get battery world / repco to check this also) or that its cactus and you need a new one. Also note that the deep cycle battery listed here is not the correct type of battery you need.

    • With a brand new Optima Yellow Top D35 my battery wouldn't last 2 weeks because of the alarm that constantly drains it.

Also short trips drains batteries quickly, 5 mins to the shop/work and 5 mins home again isn't enough to put the charge it took to start it twice back into it.

For the last few months I haven't really driven more than 5 minutes at a time, then I didn't drive the car for 4 days and it was dead again.

Luckily Optima Yellow Top batteries aren't damaged by deep discharges unlike led batteries so it's always good again after a charge.

  • Remove cables
Try the battery after a week
If it starts then something is draining it
    Maybe glovebox light staying on,
    Alarm, radio
Or it could just be gremlins
Don't feed the mogui after midnight
    or go to the movies
