You should add the postage amount to the title. Postage for those interested:

    New South Wales $6.98
    Victoria $6.98
    Queensland $6.98
    ACT $6.98
    South Australia $6.98
    Northern Territory $6.98
    Western Australia $6.98
    Tasmania $6.98

  • I got one of these the last time they had this. It's a great little kit and has been very useful in mobile phone and laptop repair. Well worth the $6.98 shipping!

    • Yeah, these tools are quite handy

  • +6

Or you know, just replace the words "Free + Postage" in the title with "$6.98".

    • updated

  • +3

Every deal from OzStock always has that title "FREE" but always includes postage. Please put shipping costs in title, otherwise this it's seen more as advertising.

    • I'm not the Rep of Ozstock.
      Title updated.

Not every deal is Free+postage, they had iPhone screen protector for free+free postage.

You can get the exact same thing on ebay for $5.61 shipped (the cheapest I can find; item number 290413045221). There are also others with bidding from 99c. But considering this stock is in Australia shipping is faster than from Hong Kong, so not a bad deal if you need it soon. I don't think they're making much profit either.

    • bought it.. dooh, should check ebay 1st \
      will check next time!

    • Thanks I purchased one from ebay.

    • yeah always worth checking out eBay. but I'm not stressing over $1.37 - hope postage is quick!

      • Thanks iSamurai, purchased on eBay instead so don't need to make another account.

    • found a even cheaper one that was listed recently, item number 110560511484 $3.55 shipped :)

  • "High quality precision tools". I very much doubt it; they look softer than my pillow. You get what you pay for. It's not worth damaging small screws with cheap tools as they're impossible to remove once the head's stripped. I'd be steering clear of these - go and buy some quality tools if you need them - they cost more, but they last a lifetime.

  • Yeah… The Shipping cost should be added to the title.
I progressed to the point where it asks you to pay….. Only then did the OZSTOCK system display the shiping cost….
Unsuspecting users would register and then realise they'd have to pay and not proceed….

Im not sure about the quality of these tools tho

I am a bit over ozstock already, if i go there approx once a week why cant i pick up these supposed free items.

The other items they sell me i am okay to pick up then why cant i collect these aswell.

    • +1

maybe half of that postage is their profit

      • Of course it is. Always ridiculous shipping costs with these Free items. Its obvious theyre making profit on postage otherwise why not offer pickup. Should neg these deals .

        • -2

yeah that makes sense lazed….you do that. $6.98 postage for a FREE tool kit anywhere in Australia is so ridiculous.

          • @justin83: Obviously you have comprehension issues. If it is truely free why is pickup not allowed? What part of that do you not understand, let me know and i'll explain again.

            • @lazed: Yeah, it becomes more obvious if you try to order more than 1, they pretty much charge $6.98 per set - if no pick up or combined shipping is available, it's pretty obvious that's where the money is.

              • +4

@robhung: I have to agree, I know the last time this happened, I gave it a neg and copped some abuse from it for all the people who cant handle a neg vote being issued. But I dont mean it as a put down or an insult or anything towards the poster or anyone else who might still want to get the item. I just think on principle alone its wrong of any store to try to make a profit on shipping. I feel shipping should always be whatever it costs to ship and any profit or otherwise they want to make (which they are entitled to make) they should be adding that onto the price of the actual item itself.

I especially hate it when they dont really give valid shipping costs for multiple items, like i know COTD used to do that ALOT! Sometimes because i am buying multiple items the shipping cost would be 60$! which is BS.

I also think we should be standing up and trying to let the shops know that we are ok with them making a profit but they should be doing that on the cost of the item and letting us know how much we are actually paying for shipping and where the rest of the money is going.

                • @lonewolf: That's definitely true, not many people do take negative votes kindly but I doubt comments like this will go unseen. I know for every deal, I read through the comments section very thoroughly so we're still doing our part!

I believe they're trying to avoid a comparison if they actually put a price figure and lower the shipping costs, and definitely trying to avoid bulk orders by charging this outrageous rate. However, I don't see a problem with limiting the amount purchased per customer, so it's definitely the comparison point of view.

But I definitely agree, I would actually reward a company by purchasing through them instead if I knew they were being honest about their prices, even if it was the same price as other companies.

            • @lazed: lazed, perhaps we should reword it for you - is a 32 Piece Pocket Screwdriver Tool Kit for $6.98 including postage a good deal?

              • @justin83: Again you fail to comprehend the point here which is NOT about the price, it's about the wording of the listing (i.e "free" but no pickup is allowed) Please don't post anymore, you just can't get a grip on simple concepts.

                • @lazed: haha thanks lazed you're good for a laugh. Perhaps it that you don't understand the concept of this website. Please stop getting caught up in the wording, instead lets try look at this in layman's terms;

Is $6.98 for this tool kit a Bargain (get it, OzBargain)? Notice how 29 people have + this listing - interesting isn't it….

Or lets try another approach - Hi lazed do you think this tool kit is a bargain, it costs $3 + $3.98 for postage? so what total does that bring us to?

If you didn't get it, the total was the same as before. Some advice, don't get caught up in the little things otherwise you'll lead a very stressful life :)

          • @justin83: Surly, there is a gst implication on it.i.e. if the item is free they don't have topay gst!(or even company tax!)

            • @fish: the postage charge is GST inc. too. So, I don't consider GST is a factor they put product price to 0.
It's a kind of marketing strategy. FREE always attracts more eye balls.

      • +1

It is but then is this a freebie, no.

        • +2

i would be less cynical if they allowed pickup, but you have to pay a $6.98 pickup fee.

I admit the whole concept is strange. However this tool kit is actually pretty decent.

It's on par with $20-$30 kit from DSE or Jaycar.

          • +1

@tonyjzx: I picked it up for free but paid for the tools lol

  • what kind of heads do they have? anything other than the standard philips and flat blade (if thats what its called?)

  • ordered one. The screwdriver set I have does not have a magnetic head.
    I can replace that now.

  • Seems like a good deal so a positive vote from me.

    OP: Nice doraemon picture :)

  • +1

    I have used a similar set…

Cons: the bits deform like butter
Pros: don't have to worry about stripped screw heads because the bits strip themselves before stripping the screw heads.

  • +2

I have used similar sets too, mostly dse ones the bits as you say are like butter.

    This one seems good

I have taken apart 2 laptops and no signs of the bits going on me , actually they are a shiny steel looking bit instead of the usual grey metal

I walked in and got mine for 5 , was a good deal compared to the butter bits ones i normally get for 10-20
