      I think technically they are not allowed as they fall under the bracket of transmitters/receivers which are still not allowed to be used during a flight. I've been using the 1TB Wireless HDD for the past couple of years with no issues and it makes flights a lot more enjoyable. My argument though would be that a lot of flights now have onboard WiFi which probably isn't too different - however I don't know the technicalities behind it.

          Good point, but once the plane doors are closed they do mention they have to be switched to flight mode.

        No. Some types of this device will let you remove the drive in it and replace it with a larger drive eg 2TB and so increase your available storage space.

        No - larger capacity drive. As in, open the enclosure, remove 500gb drive and place a 2tb in its place and close up the enclosure once more.

      My router can do this. Have different network folders that can have different passwords. To bypass just pull the USB stick out of the router and plug the stick into a computer.

    Dropped this bad boy on concrete while transferring videos from my iPhone

    No damage at all besides a little scuff mark. Transferring completed and HDD still works perfectly. Would recommend.
