$50 investment for battery and charger which is actually cheaper compared to the named brands.

Depends on how many 'skins' you want to go neck deep into.

    • Only a 1.5Ah battery in that kit though…

  • Where does it say they are $10 off?

  • What are their grass trimmer blades like?

    • I have had no issues with my trimmer after getting one to replace a dead petrol one, but then I'm not exactly cutting through bamboo here….

With 3 super bright LEDs, it provides a massive 270 lumen of bright lighting.

Sorry, but thats seriously lame. Fine for a couple of AA batteries, or a single li-ion cell, but those powertool batteries can drive thousands of lumens.

    • I agree . If your that way inclined it's probably ripe for a cree transplant . Actually considering buying the torch just for the battery connector for a portable stereo . 18V is bang on for a chip amp and I already have a couple of batteries with charger .

      • cree transplant

        What the hell is that?

    • Perhaps it's lame compared to a searchlight however it's probably all that it can cope with without melting.

It's almost certainly running 1 x 1W LED chips … and over-driving them to buggery anyway.

Unless you can get the heat out, there is no point pushing them any harder.

As for "Cree upgrade" - that is not going to change anything. You need more current, and that means more heat.

Compared to a torch it has a huge area to work with . Tons of room for adequate heatsinking .

        • Compared to a torch it has a huge area to work with

And unlike a torch it will be 100% plastic with zero metal that is thermally conductive

Tons of room for adequate heatsinking

And almost 100% certainly there is absolutely no heatsinking whatsoever.

A device like this is designed as a (profanity) toy to sit underneath the Ryobi +One accessories at a lower price point. They aren't going to engineer it to be best in class LOL

All prices seem normal to me. The work lamp has been around $13 for a while.

  • Nice first post buddy! Congrats

  • Why pick these tools over Bosch Blue or Ryobi One+ ???

    • +1

      Price.
If it's just for occasional use these would likely be fine and have a 5yr warranty on skins but much cheaper.

        Ozito : Price.
        Ryobi : Versatility.
        Bosch : Reliability.
