    • I paid for over $2500 with $50 gift cards. No idea what the limit is

    • Plenty of JB's only accept 5 GCs in a transaction.

Same for online. Max GC value $500. So $2500 all together.

      • +1

i picked up my LG OLED for around 5k with approx, 15gift cards. no problems. somehow i even had a 1000 GCs at time. i think i used a few of lower values more than 5, in probably a few JBs no issues so far.

  • Does JB sell steam cards?
Might be a good way to get 10% off steam for upcoming holiday sale

    • Unfortunately you cannot purchase gift cards with gift cards.

    • I have purchased iTunes, PSN and Steam cards using JB gift cards.

    • +1

Steam sales? You are better of looking at another retailer such as gamesplanet

  • This should make the new MacBook Pros a little more worth while. With 5% off Coles cards, 10% off JB gift cards, it brings it bring the 13" Touch Bar model from $2699 to:
    $2699 x 0.95 = $2564.05
    $2564.05 x 0.9 = $2307.65

    Nice!

    • Coles GC states no purchase of GC in T&C, and there's been increasing reports of Coles self-serve checkouts to have software updates that prevents that.

      • -1

Really? I haven't heard of this, and I work at Coles. I'd be able to get whoever's on checkout to put them through no problem, it's only the potential software update that's stopping me. I'll try it on a $500 gift card first. If not, I'll just use the Coles gift card to buy food. Will still be a 10% saving on food and 10% saving on a new MacBook ;)

    • +2

Was thinking the same. If I can buy enough JB cards for a MBP, wait for a 10% off sale sometime in the next few months, then I've got a few overseas trips planned in the next 6 months. Could save a fair bit..

    • And then wait for the 10% off Apple computers and it's even better!

    • They don't have them online? Will they get them? Thinking about getting the top end 15"

  • Since the ultimate card can be used in multiple stores, does it make it in-store only or are the online checkouts at all these stores compatible?

  • If only Steam cards were discounted too.

    • +3

Buy jb hi fi gift cards, then buy steam cards from jb hi fi (assuming they sell it there).

  • -1

Much better to then wait for JB sale on whatever category you're after eg. blu ray players, TV, headphones etc.

The you'd have 5% Coles, 10% JB GC. additional % for JB sale (and if you're lucky enough to be travelling overseas for Xmas TRS 10% refund too = ultimate OzB discount stack!!!

Eg. new Apple MBP if JB roll out their usual 10% off Apple would = 35% MBP discount :)

    • +3

All good on paper. Then you to coles on wed and no gift cards on coles and they wont stock til the sale is over.

      • There also is the dodgy option of 'hiding' or 'borrowing' non-activated cards from Coles, for activation during the period when this deal is active.

I don't need any and never done this myself, but I'm sure this is quite commonly done by some ppl.

      • -1

        Dont they do rain checks

        • Did you click the link? No raincheck

    • 5% coles from where batchy was the place for me but im hearing its now 3%.

  • Can someone please explain how this works ? im a little confused id like to buy the ps4 pro from JBHIFI which is $550 how would i do that ?

    • Go to Coles and buy a total of 11 of the $50 Ultimate Kids gift cards over 3 transactions since the max is 5, it'll cost you $495. Then go to JB and pay for the console with the gift cards.

      • Cool thanks!, so for example a $100 gift card will cost me $90?

  • +1

Google Pixel can be had for ~19% off if you can claim TRS. That makes it a bit more tolerable.

  • Just wandering…

Next minute "Ultimate Kids" goes into liquidation….
Just like what happened to Dick Smith's gift cards :(
So avoid holding on to the gift cards and just spend it asap!

    • +1

      agreed

    • +1

      good point
pop the card onto a jb preorder asap.
      pay with credit card too

  • How do you buy this in store as in where do you go? Never bought gift cards from Coles before lol

  • DJI Mavic Pro
    10% off + 5% employee discount

    $1444.15

    tempting

    • Even attempting after GST claimed, even cheaper than the RRP in China

  • Will have to stock up after seeing the JB discounts from Blatchy's have gone from 7 to 6 to 3% now.

    • Yep Blatchy's is pretty much dead for GC discounts now. Coles is down to 3%, a few are as low as 2%…not worth the effort, especially as they make you direct deposit a balance to avoid their high CC fees.

Don't think I've ever seen better than a 10% JB discount before!

    • 7% to 6% now 3% that sucks wonder why they did this?
Had plans to use jb hifi often with this % off but not going to bother now.
Did use a few times but that sucks now.

  • Can I buy a inflatable pool from one of these places ?

  • Is that Freedom furniture on the list?

  • +4

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned the values of the kids giftcards! There are only two; $30 and $50.

Also, the Coles I just came back from only had 10 of each, so good luck.

    • Looks like the discount has not started yet

      • Looks like people started hiding the cards

    • Yep, people are planning on purchasing MacBooks and the like, meanwhile these Kids cards will be as rare as hens teeth. They'll be gone first thing Wednesday if not already stashed elsewhere before then.

  • Can I use a JB gift card to purchase a Playstation Network Plus membership card?

  • -1

Anyone know what day this starts?

    • +4

everyone that have read the deal

    • It started already. Be quick !!!

Go have a look and let us know how it goes, ok?

  • I just found the ultimate kids website, you can find the faqs and t+c's there http://ultimatekids.com.au/

giftcards seems to be only $30 and $50

    • +3

Well that ruins most of our plans for JB….

      • Grab as many as you can and use them in store as there is no limit.

        • Yeh just going to take 12 transactions to get $3k worth is all. And then a long time at the register lol. But still might do it!

        • @dwhes: You will have to buy 60 x $50 cards to get $3000 value.

        • @dwhes:

And you'll need multiple disguises as Coles will only sell 5 per transaction.

        • @sparkles: yes I know, which is 12 transactions. $250 worth per transaction allowed.

        • @silverrat23: why do you need disguises? It doesn't say you can't have more than 1 transaction? Just 5 per transaction.

        • @dwhes:

Oh yeah, forgot how it doesn't state per person, only per transactions which means you can buy another 5 straight after. I gotcha now.

    • My local Coles has around a dozen cards. They'll no doubt be all gone on Wednesday morning.

The $50 limit is a little useless. I was planning on buying a $550 item at JB. 11 cards. If only one other person has the same idea as me in my neighbourhood then the store's entire supply will be taken.

I think I'll just use an eGift card and settle for 5% off. At least those are available in unlimited supply and up to $500 face value. The item I want has an identical price everywhere.

    • God dammit. Oh well, at least I've got my 6.4% discount from PokitPal.

  • +2

I found this important message on their T&Cs.

SOME MERCHANTS MAY CHOOSE NOT TO ACCEPT THE GIFT CARD.

Does that mean that JB may not honor those GCs if you buy something special…

    • Oh dear

    • Good find. It's unlikely that JB will refuse the cards, but those weasel words in the T&C add quite a lot of uncertainty…

    • If stores have the logo on card why would they not accept card or are there no store logos on cards?

      • The logos are there on the card, but I believe it's an out for the store if someone tries to buy a heavily discounted item, and then put another 10% off on top. I would imagine JB would be well within their rights to refuse a sale if you turn up with 50 gift cards to buy a $2500 item. It's like trying to pay a $100 bill with 50c coins. The merchant can refuse service.

        • No problem with JB HiFi, I tried with about 50 cards, they were kind enough to go though the trouble. :D

  • Is there any office works gift card discount?

  • what is best restaurants? is it this one here: https://www.bestrestaurants.com.au/?

  • -6

What a waste if time did not see one at waverly garden coles none of these cards were there. Others was. Must be no stock or something

    • +1

How hard did you look? I don't think a the deal deserves a negative vote because you couldn't find any.

      • -1

Because there was none in store? Good reason

    • At 9am there were quite a few of both the $50 and $30 cards. Then a couple came along and bought the lot. Didn't need any myself but had seen the post earlier so was interested to see how many were there… and then not…

  • Just tried to pay with Coles gift cards at Coles on Spencer St, Melbourne. They didn't accept it. There's a line on the Coles gift card that says you can't buy gift cards with gift cards.

I bought all their $50 Ultimate Kids though. Only $30 ones left there now.

    • +1

Not sure why you got -negged, thanks for the information! Going to get there as quick as i can now.

      • No probs. :D Maybe I got negged because I bought all the $50s :P

  • +5

Plenty of stocks in Coles Sydney World Square.
They just open a box in front of me. The box has at least a hundred inside.

They do enforce the 5 per customer limit though. I can only get half of my PS4 VR today.
Will buy another 5 tomorrow and go straight to JB to pre-order.

Thanks OP, This should be called Ultimate JB gift card.

    • Mate was just from there & the lady that sells tobacco said they dont sell it there. Did you find them on the shelf or you asked?

Checked macquarie centre coles and was not on the shelves either.

      • Not on the shelf. You need to ask the counter. I have bought 11 $50 in 2 days from there, and I have a PSVR now. Christmas present comes early.

  • Missed out a Perth Central. One person apparently bought all of them…

  • Even if most stores sold out today surely they are good for a week as be bit silly if they offer a deal and cant offer until deal ends?

  • -2

Just visited a coles store in Fitzroy, they got 10 $50 cards and 10 $30 cards. Asked if there are anymore, but they said it's all there. A kind staff helped me to purchase all of them… No limits or issues, hope those cards work well in JB

  • Well, tried this in several Coles. None of the Coles managers said 5 per person, they just made multiple transactions with 5 cards each.

I felt sorry for the JB HiFi staff who required half an hour to put all the cards for my transaction. I thanked her from the core of my heart.

    • Did you meet any issues redeeming those cards?

      • +2

No, they are well familiar with the card.

Only thing is that they were very strict about ID verification. They even checked the receipt of Coles and took a copy of them (with my permission). JB HiFi has put a notice in their counter that due to recent increase in fraudulent activities with gift cards, they will verify ID for any transaction of gift card over AUD 375 value.

Very useful information! Thanks for your feedback!

        • You are most welcome :)

Bought 3x$50 and 1x$30 from Coles Cockburn Gateways (WA) this morning. there were still plenty left. Spent it on a Uniden Triple handset $188… the JBHifi staff wasn't too sure how to use it, at first but finally got it through. Cheers

  • +1

to the WA peps, i got 4x50 ones at dogswamp this afternoon. i was going to get more but i didnt anymore. there was probably 1x50 and 4 or 5x$30 ones left.
northlands, mirrabooka and dianella didnt have any but mentioned they usually receive gift cards like these a day later.
    hope this helps anyone

    • I don't live in WA, but for some reason it's made my day knowing you have a suburb called Dog Swamp, postcode 6060.

      • +2

ahh dogswamp is the name of the shopping area, the suburb is actually Yokine.
if it makes your day even better, we also have a suburb called Cockburn as well ^___^

For everyone in WA, I did a bit of a Coles run today and here is what I found:

Kardinya: Only $30 dollar cards in stock (at least 10)
    Bicton: Don't sell them
Beeliar: Only $30 dollar cards in stock (at least 10)
Hamilton Hill: All cards in stock (only about 5 left)
    Fremantle: Don't sell them
    Mosman Park: Don't sell them
Claremont: Only sell $30 dollar cards (at least 10)
Subiaco: Only sell $30 dollar cards (about 7 left)
    Raine Square: Out of stock

    • Plenty left at the Kalamunda store. Bought 4 of the $50 cards and still at least 7 left.

  • In WA, I grabbed some at Coles Waterford Plaza. Only about 6 or so $30 ones left yesterday afternoon. There were plenty of $50 and $30 at Coles South Perth. PS4 Pro at JB for me :-D

  • Does coles team member discount work on these gift card?

  • Hi i went in coles store in Oakleigh today scan a $30 JB gift card but no 10% off, and the ladies say she is not aware of any discount offer , so how can i get a JB gift card for 10% off in store, thanks guys

    • Ultimate Kids (can be use in JB Hifi, Dymocks, Rebel Sport, Amart Sports, ToyRus, BabiesRus, Cotton On Kids)

You want the "Ultimate Kids" giftcards, not JB HiFi branded ones.

  • +1

I've just bought 5 x $50 of the ultimate kids card and tried to use them at JB HIfi at Highpoint shopping center and getting a transaction not allowed error!

Manager said had problems with these cards yesterday.

Called customer support line for the ultimate kids card and they said they are getting quite a few issues with JB using this card.

To all those that had successful transactions did you guys do anything different than swipe your card enter savings and pin as per instructions?

    • +1

Nothing else, and it worked fine (yesterday)

    • +1

It worked just fine for me at Northland Shopping Centre.
Jb guy was astonished initially as they had never came across seen this cards before but the transaction was smooth and no hassle at all.

      • Did you guys wait a fair amount of time after buying the gift vouchers before you made your purchases?

I paid for the vouchers and tried to use them about 20 mins later?

Did you also pay for full price items?

I tried paying for an item that I had gotten them to price match with The Good Guys. The price match was $48 less than their ticketed price.

        • +1

A lady at Coles told me I had to wait awhile for cards to be activated. However, I walked straight in JB I bought stuff I wanted with no issues.

    • +4

I bought an iPhone 7 with 19 gift cards at JB Dandenong and the lady at the counter put it all through without any issues. She wanted me to help her out by scratching the pin on them. The receipt she printed was bloody long though she said this was not the longest she had seen.

    • I've just used my cards successfully at JBHiFi DFO essendon airport (The same ones that weren't accepted at highpoint). The guy behind the counter didn't know anything about them either but asked one of the other girls behind the counter and she was familiar with them. She said if i use them again to make sure to tell the sales person that these cards are to be put through as just a normal eftpos transaction.
