Same here. They claim the code was in "unauthorized circulation" (aka we screwed up so let's make some stuff up).

    • Same. Wasn't really expecting it to go through, tbh.

Here we go - order cancellations - unauthorised circulation of the voucher code on OzBargain apparently!

On the day of last Saturday, 29th October from 8.56 a.m. there was unauthorized circulation, initially via the Ozbargain website and then individual circulation of an Appliance Kitchen voucher code AK0025 for the value of $25 on your Appliance Kitchen purchase.
We apologize for the inconvenience but all goods ordered by usage of this voucher code on this date will be considered unauthorized, void and will not be fulfilled.

They would be insane to honor it when they see greedy freeloaders piling up multiple orders of 20+
      One each:maybe. 20+ no chance

      Wrecked it for everyone.

      • they should have just cancelled his 20 orders ;)

        • Yep, Aussie28 stuffed it up for sure.
They would have seen his 20 bloody orders and instantly realised what was up.

          Aussie28 = Broden

          A name I won't forget.

      • As the saying goes, it takes one arsehole to ruin it for everyone.

    I was excited for my $9 kettle…

Im sure they are allowed to do this legally? Anyone had luck complaining and getting to a company and having them send the items paid for?

    • +1

(Caveat, was lawyer. No longer practicing. This was never my area of expertise. This is not legal advice.)

Online shopping is dicey when it comes to formation of contracts, but you could argue that a contract was formed with the vendor's acceptance of payment, depending on the terms and conditions of website/voucher use (e.g. the T&Cs may specify that formation of a contract will only occur once goods are shipped).

Contract lawyers or legal-type people, please feel free to weigh in with better information.

What a shame! I believe no one will shop with them anymore? DISGRACEFUL!

  • Lolllllllllll
    Good on ya OP

  • Thats a bloody outrage it is….

I'll start the whining, whinging, deluded commentary.

"This is <profanity>. They advertised a price and they have to abide by it. It's a contract. They're breaking the law. I'm going to complain to the Ombudsman. I reckon everybody on Ozbargain should boycott Appliance Kitchen because of their cheating. It's fraud. My mate said they have to give me the kettle I orderd or else they can be fined by The Department of Fair Trading. Not even a voucher as compensation!!! This is total <profanity>. I am never going to buy from them again, well I've never bought from them in the first place but that's probably because I could sense they would pull a stunt like this. It's un-australian. I've started a petition on change.org, can every one sign it please. That will force them to give us what is legally our. Hey, I reckon we should all social media and bombard the cheaters. I'm going to post on Facebook about what a bunch of liars they are. Like, you go into their store and they just ignore you because they think they are better than you. I was getting this for my Nan. She's 92 and her husband died in the war - well, in a fishing accident while the war was on. How is she going to boil her water for a nice cup of tea in the afternoon? Just wait till A Current Affair and Today/Tonight get on to this. Kitchen Appliance will be shitting their pants. I reckon the CEO will have to resign. Ha, we'll show him. They should give us $100 vouchers. stuff em. Their products are shit anyway.

I reckon acknowledgement of my order via an email is proof of the start of the processing the order. plus, they didn't even let me have the opportunity to buy the kettle at the correct price!! So they are breaking the law of the Victorian Consumer Affairs. The Business should honour this deal because it would win back the faith of the community. It would actually benefit them to supply us our microwave ovens- which we paid for. The price didn't seem low to me and how am I supposed to contact the store at 10pm at night? it's closed!!! They are the ones who are running the business! They are meant to be professionals at what they do. So incompetent . How many times have they made errors previously!!! I bet if they make a mistake by making the price too high then they wouldn't withdraw the product from sale. Don't they want the sales? idiots. it's not our fault that they stuffed up but we are having to suffer because of it.

Appliance Kitchen !! - More like "All - Liars Kitchen" tricking us with this bait and switch. It goes against Australian Consumer Legislation. I'm going to see a lawyer tomorrow and get him to sort it out. I reckon if he writes a letter of demand they'll have to give me my kettle. Bastards,You know most of their stuff comes from China, where they force kids to work 18 hours a day with out breaks?! A bloke at the pub was telling me about his mate who saw a show on TV about it. Why aren't they supporting Australian industries? Are they even an Australian company?!?!? probably not. Probably taking the profits (the money we give them!!) overseas. If they worked with Australian firms then we wouldn't have seen the demise of manufacturing!! looked at what happened to the Australian Mobile Phone Industry!! That could have created 1000s of jobs but the politicians don't do enough, and then these businesses -who take OUR jobs- just help each other out. Why do you think Malcolm Turnball has a Kettle in his house? it was a kick back!!!!. Corruption is rife and if you go to the police they pretend they don't know anything about it!!! Then the phone calls at night start and then followed by anonymous letters - telling you, ney, warning you, to keep your nose out of where it doesn't belong and that you're messing with something big and that you'll regret it. And the next thing you know you're abducted from your house at 3am and taken to remote area…."

      But…. it's only a $9 kettle.

I've never used this company before, and now that they've renegged on a voucher used in good faith (I ordered ONE kettle , not 20+ like moron Aussie28), I won't be dealing with them again.

Vote with your feet and never go back. Digital River will never get a cent from me with the crap they've pulled in the past, and now Appliance Kitchen will suffer the same fate. No business from me, and every chance I get from now on I'll diss them as poor online retailers.

Cancel the dodgy orders… dont just cancel everyone!

    • Yes, and otherwise I would have used my 10% off eBay voucher for something else, so I am extremely annoyed

    • +1

      I completely agree!
If shops/webpages make an error they simply reverse the contract; if you/we as individuals buy something wrong or make a mistake then no one helps you (including MasterCard), even though there is a 10-day cooling-off period.

  • Pricing error. Has anyone actually got their order?

  • Still haven't received my cancellation notice… not sure this is only for me..

  • +1

Why does this have 177 positives and is expired when it wasn't even a bargain to begin with…?

    • +1

Cause it was a $25 voucher for FREE!!

  • +3

I don't get mad I just reply telling them what they deserve to hear

MY email response to Appliance Kitchen after receiving their lame email

Laughs …. It is easy to make any rubbish up and not taking any real responsibility for the mishap.

    To the website IT Administrator:

It is not rocket science to implement validation techniques when it comes to voucher code processing such as requiring a valid email address to match with the voucher code or to generate random voucher codes that can only be used once.

    To the PR Representative:

Is the handling of the $25 off voucher good business practice? Fair enough to cancel orders but not to offer a consolation voucher to all those affected such as 20% off their next purchase is awful. Many new customers will now feel cheated, tell their friends how poor their retail experience was dealing with Appliance Kitchen and will never shop at your business again.

To suggest that customers must wait up to 14 days for a refund is unacceptable. If staff have to work day/night to speed up the process so be it. Put simply Appliance Kitchen are the ones cancelling the orders not the customer so resolving this matter should be your number one priority.
