  • How do these hook up to Australian toilets if the hose is on the other side?

I posted this product in the forum topic, so should expand on it a little bit. I've been following this bidet brand in particular for over a year (what a life!) and have some thoughts.

OP posted a decent model, but the best bidet for your buck is the Neo 120 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JG2DETM) which is the #3 item across all Amazon Bidets (used to be #1) and has over 4000 reviews. It's the model I currently have on order. A big difference is that this model has a self-cleaning and nozzle protection feature, which is worth its weight in gold.

If you have a lady in the house and want a 2nd nozzle that targets a different region, the 185 is worth the ~$10AUD extra (https://www.amazon.com/Bidet-Neo-185-Self-Cleaning-Non-Elect…) It is the #1 Bidet on Amazon, which speaks for itself.

The reason these Luxe Bidets are so good is they use water pressure, no electrics, which make them easy to install. The attachment pieces are adjustable and should fit most Aussie toilets(every one I've researched has been a perfect fit). Most reviewers don't seem to make a fuss about the cold water on the skin - I don't think it's as bad as you might expect.

Finally, if you're worried about leaking or the bidet breaking and shooting water and flooding your bathroom, there is a steel T-junction steel fitting in the Amazon related items that is highly recommended. It allows you to turn off supply to the bidet.

Edit: The Luxe brand are very well respected in the Bidet community. Not sure I'd trust those eBay generics near my watering hole.

    • +2

      The Bidet community?

      • Forget "Sausage Party". The big film this party is "Bidet Party" where all the Bidets getting installed are happy to leave the store and get installed in nice clean toilets by professional plumbers….the poor suckers have no idea what they're about to see or be used for…..THE HORROR!!!!

I don't know man. Tried once and it gave me a feel of sensation and although it felt good, at the same time it's making me feel so wrong/twisted for enjoying this anal sensation.

I can understand female enjoys using it though.

      • +2

Just whisper "no homo" as you use it and you'll feel fine.

      • Embrace the feeling and let the water flow through you

        • Ok thanks for the advice Emperor Palpatine

  • +1

You need to change your user name to wetarse

  • +1

The only problem with these US bidets is that they come with US plumbing sizes .. so you will need converters to plug into AU taps/junctions

    • +1

Some idiot down-voted you, so I have + to counter it.

The USA uses different pipe threads to Australia, and no amount of negs here can change that.

    • And for US size arses .. :-) .. !! Sorrry make that asses ..

  • +2

I like how it has control of the force of water - rated from "dribble", all the way up to "Karcher"

  • +1

I bought a couple of similar units from Crazysales(?) They are surprisingly effective and the cold water doesn't matter much. I find the spray too coarse and you get excessively wet. It would also be better if they were integral with the seat as they raise the rear of the seat and move around a lot. You will spend more time cleaning splatter off your pan. The fancy units I experienced in Japan were far better but a bit over the top in functions with heaters and audio.

    • heaters and audio.

… AI neural networks, direct line to Skynet, yada yada.

We have been using the following bidet from the last 4 years, still going strong. Came with all Australian fittings, easy to install:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/222145672785

  • +1

    Never used one.
How quick do they clean you? How wet are you after using it? How much paper do you use to dry yourself?

  • I recently built house and the plumber is reluctant to install one as installing bidet might not be approved by the council (as it's new house, the council need to do site survey after the completion).

He said this has something to do with the pipe that might 'suck in' the dirt/germs/whatever-you-called-it back to the distribution pipes to the neighbours

Sounds bit ridiculous to me as the water flow normally quite strong, but perhaps he has a point?

    • Sounds a bit BS IMHO.

    • +1

The plumber is right. It needs to have an anti siphon valve fitted to be compliant. The more expensive bidets already have these built in.

Anti-siphon valves allow water to only flow in one direction. It prevents water from the system from being siphoned back into the water supply line (usually when the supply is turned off for maintenance). Essentially, it stops unsafe water from entering a clean water supply.

      • Whoa, I stand (or rather sit in this case :-) corrected, sounds bad, yuck. So does that mean installing a handheld sprayer kit with a 3-way T-valve like http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Bidet-Spray-Jet-Shattaf-Kit-w… is bad? I suppose an ordinary detachable shower head is not too dissimilar but must be considered to pose less risk WRT to such potential water supply contamination.

  • Wouldn't it be simpler/better/cheaper to use a handheld bidet sprayer (aka douchette)? Like http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Bidet-Spray-Jet-Shattaf-Kit-w….

I am not experienced with such products but someone who is might like to please comment/confirm.

    • +1

My folks use this type of sprayer back home (overseas), it seems they keep changing the sprayer every couple of years, I guess due to wear and tear (plus squeezing too hard hehe)

  • I'm curious about the "bum gun" vs stationary sprayer thing as well.

I've used both when visiting Asia and prefer the bum gun, but am wondering if your HOME toilet is a different thing because you get used to exactly where the bidet spray is and have mastered the answer to the "am I sitting in the right place?" question that I find to be an issue with bidets, plus, a bidet might be more difficult for kids to misuse as a water toy against another kid, LOL.

Any Aussie who's been to Thailand or Japan has become acquainted with the "it's good to rinse off before you wipe off" philosophy. If you think about it, the whole bidet/bum gun idea just makes sense from the perspective of cleanliness, to the point that after I'd used one for a while, my reaction to running into a conventional Western loo was a disappointed, "Oh," that included an element of "Ewww."

    • LOL, bum gun, that's a great name for it.
