any reviews on these? are they any good?

or can someone recommend a better set of home camera systems?

    • I have one of these cameras. It works great and I have never encountered any issues. I originally purchased mine from DinoDirect.com for around AU$40 a few months back.

Once it was setup, I have left it on and it hasn't missed a beat or needed to be reset. I've installed a 16GB microSD into it as well.

The pan and tilt controls are great and it is near silent when you use it.

My only two gripes are (1) I would prefer to be able to port forward the camera instead of using Vstar's service - if any body knows how to port forward an IP camera, please let me know AND (2) The night vision function has to be manually activated and deactivated - again, of anybody knows how to automate this, please let me know.

Otherwise, it is really a very good unit for the price you pay.

your two gripes are actually big no nos for me.

        are there any better alternatives?

      • It states support for ONVIF 2.0, so you should be able to do what you want, and use any ONVIF software(a bit of a learning curve).

        • Thanks Major Mess; I'll have a look into that.

      • Just for the record IR does NOT need to be manually activated. It is automatic.

There are over 100 reviews on Banggood, average 4.8 and over 2500 reviews on Aliexpress with average 4.9

  • The youtude review looks good, but will the camera gets hot over time?

Depends what it is filming :)

      • cue sexy music interlude

    • Yes it does, look for the redtube review.

  • Got one. good deal. thanks op

  • Does Priority Direct Mail comes with a tracking number?

    Don't forget cashrewards 4.8%

  • what do people use as the recorder for these things. I have a NAS (synology) but the software to use more then 1 camera needs to be licensed per camera (license costs more then the cameras) - also I'm not sure I have the space on that box so would consider another option compared to the price of say licensing 6 cameras.

  • I'm thinking about to buy 2 of this VStarcam D35 for my front porch and the backyard of my house. The D35 model has Night Vision.

    Don't be buying this camera.

Or if you do, read this first: http://www.fontenay-ronan.fr/c7824wip-security-review/

Headlines: it has default passwords, and someone can control it from your local network. It's insecure and you risk your network and your privacy.

It's not stated in the review, but I'd also suspect that the WiFi credentials you put in could be easily compromised also. That's only really a problem if someone is in local proximity, but still.

It connects to the Internet somehow, because you can connect to it using the EYE4. The review doesn't go that far, but I'd suspect it wouldn't be impossible to gain access to these devices from the Internet. There have been cases of this before, not necessarily with this camera, though.

The traffic to the Internet is unencrypted (e.g. firmware updates). This is just sloppy.

Overall the product has poor security. No way would this touch my network.

I recommend this camera also from Banggood store.
I had it for months now and still working good.clear views. Its just around $50 +.
Have a look at their website.

    • Agree, I got one when there was a promo for $40+ … super easy to setup and a very nice UI

  • I used it outdoor under my carport.

  • This camera had good reviews from other people.

Stupid question… how do these work exactly?

Guess you connect it to your wireless network, then you access it on the comp via a link and/or program and/or IP address?

    • It uses dynamic DNS (DDNS) to enable you to connect to the camera from the internet. Most likely uses Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) to punch a hole through your router to make it accessible from the internet.

As mentioned by DeepDreamer above security on these cameras is almost non-existant.

  • Have two of these.

    Pros:
    -Good picture quality
-Fully working Windows and Android app (and iOS but never used that)
    -Remote PTZ
    -Night vision

    Cons:
    -Small viewing angle
-Audio quality is sh*t both ways
-Can't record on motion, only continous recording

Bought when it was US$42, but for US$30 it definitely worths it.

    • Can you connect to this directly through a web browser or do you have to use their app??

      • I believe it has a WebUI on local network which works only on IE with a custom ActiveX addon, and you need to use port-forwarding and DDNS to use it remotely. But I never used it, just saw in a Banggood rating, so don't quote me on that.

        • ok thanks

    • sonds horrible

are there alternatives with better firmware secuurity

      • Xiaoyi Ants has way better audio quality. Security-wise, I don't know.

        • my ants camera died on me and wont reflash

          not touching that shit again

  • Thanks op, purchased 3. Cheap enough to have a bit of fun with.

  • One problem for IP camera users : When you install it in your home through APP !!!
What happen to your security & privacy ( If someone hack in ?? )

    • These cheap cameras can only be used in outdoor.

      • Still can use it outdoor BUT has to be under the roof cover.

        • Correct.

  • Im after something like this that has sd/usb recording and auto night vision.
    Does anyone have any recommendations?

  • Anyone got shipping confirmation details yet? Mine has been on backorder for the last week since I ordered.

    • I'm. Waiting too

      • +1

Literally one hour ago I got an email saying it had been shipped, so looks like the backorders are coming through now. You should get an email soon.
