  • Does amplifying a digital signal help?

    • this may help u

      • thanks…

They should be installed only if necessary, as they can cause reception difficulties and even interfere with your neighbors’ TV reception, so do your research before using them.

        • Pranksters dream

  • If you have something else to buy I think you can use C10AUZ.

  • bunny ears do the job for me

these digital antennas are FOS. forget it. it won't work.

    • these digital antennas are FOS. forget it. it won't work.

Of course they work and they work well for most people. Sheesh this isn't some kind of voodoo that you take to cure an ailment, either you see a picture on the TV or you don't so the results are pretty conclusive.

      • yeah and they simply don't work in getting reception. had tried plenty of these boxy "digital" antennas before and my area has good reception, they are useless to say the least. just marketing bs. amplified normal ones have a better success rate.

    A few notes…
No such thing as a 'HD' Antenna. HD refers to the number of pixels on the screen, and in terms of RF transmissions, the amount of data, which just uses more of the 7MHz bandwidth that each network has available to them. None of this changes the requirements or design of the Antenna.

The features that make an Antenna 'Digital', are the range of channels (or frequency range) that they are designed to receive, in an area, and more importantly now, the channels it is designed to reject. Any Antenna will still pick up channels outside this range. Proper rejection can only happen with electronics, often as part of an amplifier. Specifically 4G, which can cause interference.

To say that an Antenna 'Won't work' is an invalid statement without some additional information… Won't work for you, at your location IE. VHF/UHF? Would you typically get away with any kind of indoor Antenna, or do you (or your neighbour's have a decent roof Antenna setup, amplified, etc.

If you are within a short distance of a transmitter, and have minimal brick and steel in the way, an indoor Antenna can work. Of course, some are just rubbish and will never, but it's usually relative.

I live on the edge of a hill and need a booster like this to get signal. These things definitely work.

  • I need a booster (on a hill) or I get diddly squat! (18db gain required).

  • I bought the Aldi version, no where near my bunny ear one which extends more than 1M

Don't waste any money on any 'indoor' tv antenna. THEY NEVER WORKS. They can write all sorts of attractive words, digital, frequency, booster, whatever….. You may be lucky to get 1 or 2 channels smoothly, but even that is just lucks.

    • This is 100% accurate. In Victoria you need to live near the Dandenong ranges to get reception even with the $150 indoor antenna from JB HIFI.

Freeview is launching their free to air app next month. All the channels will be available on your device, so no need for an antenna if you have a Chromecast.

If you don't know what is an antenna, forget what we are talking about.
