  • Nice one

  • Arnott's Country Cheese Crackers for $1 is really good

Keep getting an undefined error on the Bakers water crackers.
Edit: Logging in helped. There's also a cracked pepper variety.

  • Good deal, ordered Lavazza Torino Qualita Oro Coffee Beans 500g $4 x 2 (all that my local had). Woolworths has the same bag for $19.

EDIT: And strangely the 1KG from WOW is $17.

    • Yeah Woolies is on special this week, $17 for the 1 kg packs, either as beans or ground. But $4 for a 500g pack is pretty good. By OMG the hassle try to get stock on the OfficeWorks web site - it acts like every store has 1 in stock, but it's not until after you provide PayPal details that it then tells that actually there is no stock … frustrating web site!

Homebrand white sugar is $1/kg bag, even less per kg for 3kg (at Woolworths)

    Allen's Wonka Red Skins 3kg $0.25

Holy crap on a country cheese cracker!

    • Yeah saw those also but no stock anywhere unfortunately.

  • 15kg sugar for $5, but when I try and pay it makes me take it out if my 'basket' after going through PayPal.may work for others?

  • +3

don't forget you can price-beat other grocery specials there, such Lavazza and Sakata at Woolworths as well as Coke at Coles, though perhaps with the current discount offers at Woolworths and Coles it's not as worthwhile atm :)

I might pass on the Allens Chicos… Reviews
    lol

    • "over the last 12 months there have been some slight changes to CHICOS. We are continuing to work with CHICOS taste-testers to make the recipe our best ever. Thanks for your feedback, we'll pass it along to our team :)"

      • 6 bucks 1.3kg bag - bargain and seem to be the original ones.

        Diabetes here i come.

    • +2

Oh god dammit, is there anything I like that doesn't get discontinued or "newified"? I'll admit I didn't usually buy Shapes because of the calories, but I did like them once in a while (new ones literally taste like puke), and I loved Pringles.

      • The pack i got is old stock with use by march 2017. The non tasty ones were very late 2017.

  • +1

Chicos and crackers… not what i was expecting on ozb!

  • Great effort on picking out all the bargain items, OP. Cheers!

  • Wow imagine if a kid managed to buy the 3kg of redskins for 25c… http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/allen-s-won…

    • +2

When I was growing up that kid would be a millionaire.

You could melt down the kilo of chicos and make one giant Chico. And then you could eat it on the bus.

    • +5

Thank you for bringing that possibility to my attention.

    • +2

You could inflate it, put it on the passenger seat and use the express lane.

    • +2

I don't really catch buses but I get a train every Friday, can I eat it there? Please respond before tomorrow night.

I tried calling the Queensland rail help line but it was after hours so I called the emergency number instead.

After a 45 minute wait Someone called Bevan answered the phone and he said that according to QRs policies only consumption of bottled water is allowed on normal passenger trains. But he said that qld rail could make an exception if there were medical or emergent reasons for someone needing to eat the Chico.

I asked if it would be okay just to have the Chico sitting quietly in my lap and he said that would be fine as long as it is not taking up an extra seat.

He said that the trains sometimes attract unscrupulous characters and that accordingly QR could not vouch for the safety of the giant Chico. He was worried that someone would take a bite out of it "just for a joke!"

I am not sure if the rules are the same in your state or territory but i don't imagine that they could be altogether too dissimilar to the above.

        • Sounds fair

        • Okay, well, you're allowed to eat on Victorian trains, so I think that should be okay. If I'm ever in Queensland I'll remember to just hold it.

Also, where do I get the giant chico mould?

Seriously though, I can't believe they don't let you eat on trains there. Seems like another revenue raising scam. I'm surprised the takeaway places near the trains haven't kicked up a fuss.

        • @MrMcHairyHead: I went into Robbins Kitchen and asked for a giant Chico mould but they said that they had never seen one and also that no one had ever asked the question before.

I asked to speak to someone up the chain and they gave me the number for their corporate headquarters. After 25 minutes I got to speak to someone called medina who said We don't sell chiko rolls. I said I was looking for Chico moulds. She said oh sorry I thought it sounded like you were looking for chiko rolls. We don't sell chiko rolls. it took quite some time to explain the whole back story to her.

She said that she had never seen a Giant Chico baby mould however she had recently bought a spongebob square pants cake tin for her sons birthday party. She suggested using one of those to make a giant spongebob instead. I said yes but spongebob will be dark brown and made of gelatine. If I take that on the bus I will make a damn fool of myself. She said that there was nothing she could do.

She asked me if I had seen the recent chiko roll ad on YouTube and I said yes. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vCJqCGidYoM She said you could sing the roll home with a chiko song while you're holding the Chico. I thought she may have been joking but on reflection it seems not a bad idea.

  • They also have some really cheap rugged phone covers for older smartphones. I picked up an Otterbox Defender for $25, normally $59. Name sounds like a type of chastity belt but it's actually a cheaper alternative to Lifeproof.

    • I swear by Otter cases. The best phone covers

      • +2

        There is no otter.

  • Ordered several packs of bog rolls for 50c each on click & collect (Oxley, Qld). Can't wait to try them out.
