Wouldn't it be better to just sign up via a referral to get $20 instead of $15?

    • Wonder if you can combine?

      • Says after first order. So use the $15 offer here, then the $20 sign up bonus.

        • -3

          No
If we use referral ID used u get $20 dollar to use right away

        • +3

          @jrt2020:

"$20 for referrer and referee after the first order."

        • +1

          OK so you can combine?

          Order #1: $25 - $15 off 1st order = $10
          Order #2: $25 - $20 referral credit = $5

          Anyone ordered and can confirm?

        • @neil:
          Nope you cant.

And FYI delivery fee is $5

so minimum charge is $25+$5 - disc

  • Bummer!

the referrer bonus is better - i just used with a new account

  • Sorry for the dumb question, how can I get my own referral code? After login, I couldn't find an option for "refer a friend".

    • +2

You get a referral code after your first order.

      • Is it first order? I got mine after 2nd order

        • From their faq: "You need to have ordered a certain number of times to get your invite link. Keep ordering and it will magically appear!"

  • +1

    Who's Sam?

    • +1

      No who's first!

  • +1

Refferal bonus is better plus you can be nice to someone else.

  • Use referral guys, this $15 discount wont stack with $20 referral bonus ;)

I've heard quite a good case made that Deliveroo offers low costs by underpaying workers. You might want to consider whether a business like this deserves your custom. http://www.smh.com.au/business/workplace-relations/deliveroo…

    • +4

Yeah, they are jerks. I only use them when I have credit. They also take like 30% of the bill. Madness.

  • +4

Agree. This Company's persistent disregard for Australian workplace laws and exploitation of vulnerable workers by underpaying them is pretty deplorable. I wouldn't use them.

  • +1

I see these guys (delivery drivers) waiting down at my local park at night when I'm walking the dog, I really wonder how much they earn a night?

    • +3

Depends what service you're after I guess?

"It is very concerning that bicycle couriers are still being forced to operate as independent contractors so they can be paid below the award rates and denied their basic benefits"

Meanwhile the company claims ""They work for 750 restaurants which dispatch the jobs to them".
Sounds dodgy and against the precedent set by the High Court in 2001.
    http://www.smh.com.au/business/workplace-relations/deliveroo…

Also, "Don't have an account yet? Just place an order to create one" so accounts aren't even free?!!!

    • +1

Accounts are free but can be created in the same step as first order.

I also have serious qualms with the courier contractor status. I think the government needs to set some solid rules to differentiate employees and contractors. Any company that is setting hours should be paying minimum hourly rate though.

  • +6

Nope. Not until I see proof they're no longer exploiting couriers.

  • +1

Bit off topic but seeing as you raised the subject of couriers being disadvantaged. Many small companies out there engage people on ABN's to drive company owned vehicles. They should be paid as employees as they do not bring their own tools of trade. Many new Australians are being particularly targeted by those within their own community unfortunately. Sham contracting at best.

Many are also on student visas limited to 20 hours per week however paid a mix of cash & on the books. Very difficult to police.

  • Just wondering after this discounts etc, how much does Deliveroo pay their delivery boys/gals?

  • +6

This is one company that I'll struggle to get behind, taking advantage of their employees doesn't sit well (although there's literally hundreds of companies that are doing the same)

  • +1

There's another code I got in the mail, NCT15 which is $15 off first order, valid until 15th October 2016. Minimum order $25 + $5 Deliveroo Fee.

  • +1

This is sad, I tried to order and they don't service my area :(

  • +3

Please add "Minimum spend $30" in title to not mislead OzBargainers.
    $25 minimum plus $5 delivery.

  • Does the $5 go to the delivery contractors?

  • +1

Dodgy company. I will never support them even if it's free food. Making a fool out of Australia. Besides they use a kangaroo logo and the company isn't even aussie. $10 bucks an hour, no way… Working in the industry I am also aware they take 30% off businesses, it is already hard to make money by selling food, a lot harder when you are giving away a 30% slice of your cake.

  • You could always give the delivery person a nice tip…

    • Follow the US and join in on a race to the bottom? Perhaps we should go the Swedish model and pay people fairly. They have the highest levels of equality and happiness.

  • Apparently they don't do anything near me in Croydon, which sucks. Cheers anyways OP.

  • I had an issue applying the code. I placed an order anyway and used the support chat in the app to be credited $15. Ordering was easy. Resolving the problem was quick as well.

  • This is useful if you signed up for that stupid burger offer and didn't get a chance to sign up using a referral. -_-
