I got them for $284 price matched @ OW back in November last year. This one is a good deal as any one can get it, don't need to be near a certain store.

If I don't take many flights and would only wear them while walking the dog, mowing the lawn or washing the car, are these a better purchase then the QC35's?
The noise cancelling between this and the QC35 is more or less identical. The main difference is Bluetooth. Which headphone you should buy depends on how much you value wireless.
Personally for mobile use I'd go QC35s. More and more devices will likely drop the headphone jack.
Not too familiar with active noise cancellation. How do the headphones go with blocking out people talking rather than the humdrum of a plane or train?
You can still hear a bit. But that's quite acceptable compared to the near silence you get.
I didn't know you could get different levels of Bluetooth.
