Someone tell me why i dont need this
I think the girlfriend will kill me…

    • What are you going to use it for though?

      • +3

I'll definitely take that into consideration…

    • check the commercial: https://youtu.be/Jc99CMF4WRY

You do need it. it allows you to keep track of your heart rate during vigorous activities.

      Then just get a GF2…GearFit2

  • I had it in my cart, waiting for a sitewide discount….but now I have to RESIST…..

  • Purchased this for 99bike (managed to talk them in as close to price match as possible at the time for $689. Which was good considering DWI is not on shore) about 2 months ago. It's a great watch if you are major into fitness tracking to justify it. Its big but its tough and last about 2 weeks on a full charge. Very happy with it. Would have been happier if this deal was around when I purchased it ;-)

    • Few more point on this. One let down, the HR does not work when swimming is selected. It works if you just wear the watch while you are swimming but they have turn off the HR when the swim app is selected. If you have an external HR it will work with that. Very strange if they are worried about accuracy they should just present a warning and leave it on.

Also the look and feel of watch allows it to be worn all day in the office or at a night out. I find a number of the other Garmin's have been designed for sports use and not something that is worn out of context. Personal opinion of course but may help some.

      • If you have an external HR it will work with that.

Just a clarification on this - if you want HRM whilst you swim you'll need one of the specific HRM bands that will record whilst under water. Either the HRM Swim here from 99bikes for example or the HRM Tri also from 99bikes.

You can't use the regular Premium HRM / HRM Run bands - they won't work underwater.

There are some other options too - the Mio Link wrist HRM works under water, as do a couple of other brands.

        • Thanks ya I figured it out late. Its just strange that HR will work while swimming but not when swimming app is active.

  • How is this different in function from the Garmin Forerunner 235? Considering both at this point in time.

    • +2

The 235 is more running while this model is more for triathlon.

It depends what you need in a watch, I have the 630 and that is enough for me. I can't remember the last time I swam or rode a bike!

The Fenix range target multi-sport more than the FR 235 (being able to chain multiple sports into the one activity). They also offer great features for not getting lost (set courses, waypoints, compass for hiking or trail running). The Fenix also offer more training options.

If you're trying to track activity, road runs or cycling, the 235 will probably be all that you need.

Here's a really good breakdown of the different lines: http://www.wareable.com/garmin/best-garmin-watch

      • Thanks, snagged the 235 instead.

  • Fantastic product and a great price!! To be honest I would be just as happy with the non HR version though unless you wanna wear it always and are interested in sleep and step tracking. For sports, the built in MR monitor does error quite a bit compared to the heartrate strap. Still, one of the best products I have bought.

  • This is how I bought my Garmin, bit of (profanity) about but worth it if you want local stock. Amart sports do a price beat by 10%, so price beat WildFire sports.

    • No that one is the older non HR version, and prob without the sapphire face too

  • Ive found Evans cycles to be very well priced when it comes to Garmin products shipped to Oz. Appears to be the case with this watch too https://www.evanscycles.com/en-au/garmin-fenix-3-EV242438
Can also use cashrewards.com.au and 28 degrees card to get it even cheaper than the advertised $438.52AUD if you pay in pounds.

EDIT: Doesn't appear to be the HR version.

  • you can turn off HR sensor and connect to a HR strap when exercising for a more accurate read correct?

    • Yes, you can. It is also compatible with the premium straps, like HRM-Run, which gives you cadence, balance, etc.

      • thanks!

  • Can anyone comment on DWI? I did a quick google search, and found mixed reviews in regards to their service and warranty etc. Many were as recent as 2014/2015 and mostly on whirlpool forums. Kind of worried as it's a huge amount to drop only for warranty to be declined and what not.

They do have a company here (can't recalll the name something like Afik or something) that help with warranty, but I did read that someone complained to ACCC and the accc said essentially that company weren't involved with the warranty as their issue was directly with DWI (something along those lines)

    • Bought a camera and a few lenses from them without any issues . There are certainly bad reviews out there about them regarding warranty (as with all grey importers) so you take your chances.

  • Anyone manage to put order for this item using the CODE15. Keep getting " This code can't be applied to some of your items."

    • I just added to cart and put the code in the vouchers section. Worked ok..

      • All good. human error. only can use that code once on one Pay Pal account. :(

Should have read the term and condition properly

  • Dammit, couldn't resist…

  • ohh I hate you!!!

    Thank you
