Sweet Yarra Coffee Premium Coffee Deal Presents:

MEXICO EL CAPO FINCA EL CHORRO
USDA Organic Certified Farm

SCREEN 20 (LARGE BEAN)

THE PRODUCER

Finca El Chorro is located in the heart of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas with an area of 294 has. 267 dedicated to organic coffee farming and 27 as a wildlife reserve.
El Chorro owns its name to the many water springs surrounding this pristine coffee plantation.
We grow Typica, Bourbon and Catuai varieties under lots of shade trees.
Our annual production averages 2500 bags of 69 kgs.
It was until 1965 that roads and bridges were constructed and vehicles started to circulate in the area.

It was extremely hard to overcome these difficulties because of the monumental rocks across the whole site, and the numerous rivers and creeks criscrossing the narrow paths.
Even through the recent international coffee crisis we mainteined the dedicated care and optimum conditions to our coffee trees, harvesting only the mature coffee cherries and sundrying the parchment provide only the best handselected coffee grains.
The accumulated annual rainfall is between 3,500 and 4,000 ml

STORY

The origins of El Chorro date back to around 1910. Politic turmoil didn´t affect the coffee production area of Soconusco due to the mountains isolation.
On 1914 Miguel Lavin a Spanish inmigrant from Santander, acquired the property and established coffee as the main crop, introducing Typica Arabica. His heirs sold it in the 1930´s to Don Segundo Longo and his wife, Doña Maria Luisa who introduced Bourbon varieties and built the wet mill and patios for sun drying. Nowadays, Sven Shalit owns the farm and converted it organic. Before 1964, it was not possible to access “El Chorro” but on mules.

uh…. those coords are in the middle of the sea off the coast of Burma

    guess you mean 15º 12’ 20.06” N 92º 34’ 41.49” W

EDIT: but that growing area is fairly coastal and barely above sea level (28m)

    • just to be clear - the plantation is legit and in the mountains north of Tapachula, just the seller has a crappy description full of typos and inaccuracies

      Finca El Chorro

    • Yes it does indeed W, I have notified our importer as we speak, if you search Villa Comatitlán on google map, it shows the same coord with W not E :)

      • +1

great except that Finca El Chorro isn't located there

        • We ll confirm with our importer as we only rely on their information. How do U know its not there?
          However
According to this website it is there around Villa Cromatitlan and apparantlybTapachula is another name of Chiapas

@sweetyarracoffee: look at a map and the pictures

Chiapas is the name of the state in Mexico
Socunusco is the region within the state
Tapachula is a large city area within Socunusco
Villa Comaltitlán is a very small town within Chiapas

        • @HeXa:

Yes I did look at the map and it is also said his farm is within 1.5hour drive from Tapachula and its on the outskirts of Villa cromatitlan which does make sense. The GPs cord doesn't indeed describe exactly to the dot where the farm is instead it gives location of the surrounding area around the farm and closest municipality is villa cromatitlan which is as you pointed before it is the north of tapachula (north west to be precise) also if you use satellite image on Google, there are plantation all around villa comaltitlan. So its there dude :)

        • @sweetyarracoffee: Villa Comaltitlán is low lands and doesn't match your product description

MX websites have the location for Finca El Chorro around https://www.google.com/maps/place/15°10'24.9"N+92°18'40.5"W

        • @HeXa:

My product description doesnt exactly describe the farm is exactly located at vila comaltitlan. The farm is described in the region of villa comaltitlan or chiapas. The gps coord points to villa comaltitlan acts as a general pinpoints to show the surrounding mountaneous area

Villa comaltitlan is a town not a coffee plantation.

If u see even on the map using your pinpoint map, it is closer to the comaltitlan than from tapachula. He has coffee mills in Tapachula its the big city in the region that make sense. Again my prod description does not describe it is exactly in villa comaltitlan, it describes the region only. The gps coord points to the region NOt to the exact dot where the farm is. I dont know even if your newly discovered gps coord is his exact farm too as i havent.been there myself personaly (maybe you have) but it doesnt matter i think, we only want to show the mountaneous region surounding the area with water springs and shady trees surounds it that makes this coffee one of the best produced in mexico

We have a screen 20 fairly large. Bean of finca el chorro coffee.
          Thank you

  • Any chance you will be doing a special on geisha coffee like before?

    • Haven't got a chance to get some

We ll surely post when we have some later. They are expensive and hard to get

  • I'd like to order some but…there's a hint of doubt about provenance and no amount of 'dude' assurances is going to change that at this stage.

Look forward to seeing if the doubt about the provenance is cleared up.

@ the OP: I think it'd be part of your brief to put up an offer that is reasonably iron clad in it's information. If doubts are raised by members, then it's extremely hard to close the lid on Pandora's box once they're out.

Look forward to some clarity here..

  • Is the code for the mexican beans still valid?

  • Hi unfortunately deal has closed, but let me assure you this is fantastic coffee with incredible value even at its original price.

Otherwise we still have our best seller $57 value deal for 2 kg with variety of coffee options

    Cheers
