My first deal post, apologies if anything is out of order!

With the usual caveats about grey imports and folks' reservations about eGlobal, I think, cheapest price right now for the 32GB / 3GB RAM version of the relatively new Moto G4 Plus (~$8 cheaper a week ago @Mobileciti, now out of stock & listed at $448).

Listed at $335 + $25 "Economy Express Shipping" - $8 with the WELCOME coupon code.

XT1642 is the model sold by Motorola Aus so whatever bands are listed on the official Aus specs (http://www.motorola.com.au/products/moto-g-plus) should match what is on offer here.

Black version also in stock for an extra $5 ($357 shipped): http://www.eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au/motorola-moto-g4-plu…

Most things will be cheaper if you wait.

Will be cheaper if you wait til 2020 too.

will be cheaper if you wait for ebay sales

Yeap, patience is the key of savings.

      • Sometimes first hands-on experience worth extra money

        • You mean guinea pig?

    • @Bearosaurus, when are the ebay sales?

My daughter decided to take a drive with her phone on top of the car. So she needs something soonish.

        every 2 months or so I think…

Thoughts on moto G4+ vs nexus 5x? I think I am going to wait until the new nexus phones come out anyway in the hope that the prices of the existing generation will drop

    • G4, nexus5X is made by LG.

      • Any bootloop problem reported with nexus5x like G4 or G5?

        • +1

Not as bad as the G4 I'd say. Any phone might go into a bootloop (my friend's galaxy S5 did) but they are isolated issues IMO and not as major as the G4.

      • Any reason you'd go moto over lg?
Ive gone from a nexus 5 to a moto x and now back to a nexus 5 and have also bought a few moto G's.
I doubt ill be buying a Motorola any time soon as i've found them much more unreliable, that and their change in attitude to security updates.

    • +1

There will be no new nexus phone my friend. The next one will be pixel!

    • +3

Nexus 5X is great, it's what I've got, but Ausdroid reckon the G4+ runs smoother (http://ausdroid.net/2016/07/15/moto-g4-plus-australian-revie…) and the camera has a few more megapixels. For me, the killer thing the G4+ is missing is NFC since I use tap & pay on my phone. Also, the 5X processor is better, but there's a trade-off with battery life there, the Moto probably lasts longer. I've got this G4+ deal on order as a gift for someone but if I was buying for myself right now in this range I would go for the Nextbit Robin. About $30 more but direct from the manufacturer who are an indie company rather than one of the giants, excellent industrial design and the few issues at launch (Sept 2015) like a laggy camera app have been addressed pretty swiftly in software updates.

      • +1

yeah get a Robin.. I did and I love it! Great looking phone, feels good in hand, performs really well….

        • whats the battery life like on the Robin?

        • @zim4:
as rooting is welcomed by nextbit, with greenify installed, I get around 3+ hrs SOT, depending on signal strength. Easily lasts a day for me… and charges fast when needed… nonetheless, it's not one of the robins strengths!

        • @zim4: not too sure, but interestingly, it's the area that Nextbit say they are going to address (with software-centred solutions) next: Nextbit promises to slay the Battery dragon - Ausdroid

There seems to be many bad reports of the G4 as it gets older. Some are saying they will never buy another LG phone.
      Have a look at Whirlpool.

two weeks back i got this for a little less with the ebay sales back then, its hovering around this price for some time. kudo's for finding another deal for those who missed the earlier one. phone is AMAZING !!!!

    • No issues with overheating?

      • severely exaggerated!! no more than any other phone overheating.

      • +1

I've had my G4 from the week of launch, only time I would say it gets warm is on the dashboard used as GPS, as screen is constantly on and phone is in the sun.
        Really love this phone!

  • I got g4 from Amazon UK deal. The phone is good, but has battery draining problem. The phone is always awake. I tried different ways and finally rooted it and sloved the problem.

    • +1

There must be an issue with yours, my battery has never gone below 16% in a day. It's a refreshing change from my Nexus 5!

  • Free bootloop included?

    For the benefit of others…

I bought this From Mobileciti with the last 15% coupon listed here for eBay. I have to send it back for a number of reasons. Some built in specs. Others performance.

    No Accelerometer
    No Compass
    Dual standby Not Active.
Drains battery badly under some circumstances. Possibly due to dual SIM.
Started breaking up badly during calls recently
Had no data connection at all for a period on Friday.

Other than that, it runs smoothly and is a nice phone.

I reported some of these issues to the seller and they have offered me a full refund which is great of them.

Had a terrible experience with eGlobal. Never again.

    • I've got the black version on order. Fingers crossed :-/

Moto G4 PLus is only slightly better than the G4 as they all come with only 2GB RAM. only the G4+ 64GB version comes with 4GB of RAM.

Even the samsung galaxy s5 my wife owns has 3GB of RAM.

2GB RAM is enough for most android apps but try running Pokemon Go / Fly GPS and PokeMesh together and the phone is gonna lag somewhat :D

    • +1

      This is said 3GB ram.

    • All versions of the G4+ 32GB are supposed to come with 3GB ram, as does this one.

    • +1

      Models: G4 16GB/2GB —> G4 Plus 16GB/2GB —> G4 Plus 32GB/3GB —> G4 Plus 64GB/4GB

It's also got the fingerprint scanner and slightly better camera vs the G4

    • Samsung Galaxy S5 has 2GB RAM

You couldn't pay me to shop from eGlobal. If you purchase this, think of it as having no warranty despite what is plastered all over their website.

  • G4+ doesn't have B28. I got the G4 from Amazon deal, quite good. The reception is a lot better than my Meize Note 2.

    • Hi, I don't think that's correct. Motorola Australia lists Band 28 in the specifications for the G4+ on their website as per my original post.

      Bands (by model)
      Moto G Plus - XT1642
      4G LTE (B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B19, B20, B28, B40)

eGlobal is stating that this is the XT1642 for sale.

      • +1

Oh my bad, the last time i checked on Whirpool, it didn't have B28.

  • Hey. I would highly appreciate it if someone who has bought from eglobal, could tell me if there are any good. Thanks.

  • +1

Look out when buying from these guys. Whirlpool and Ozbargain has a heap of people with bad experiences. Me included. The puchase is smooth but when you need a warranty they will just make it difficult. Only pay by paypal and be ready to open a dispute. Keep all correspondence.

    • +3

Its only $26 more at the good guys. They normally drop the price a bit if you ask nicely, then combine with discounted gift cards/other offer and it comes out the same price.

      • That should be enough to neg the deal. The amount you would shell out sending it back to eGlobal if there was a problem makes the purchase cost more.

Your should post the goodguys deal up. Seems better imo.

      • $399 on DickSmiths (Kogan)

Time it so you can claim the GST when holidaying overseas.

      • +1

you can also get a $25 credit for click and collect.
Must clarify that TGG is only 2GB ram 16 GB storage.

        • Is this phones specs similar to the Moto X Style (given that it's newer)? I was going to buy from TGG as well but didn't realise there is differences in ram etc?

        • @KupoHo:
No idea about the Moto X Style.
I wanted to check out what JIMBO was mentioning and could only find one on the online store. It was the 2gb / 16gb version.

        • @dasher86:
No worries, was looking in GSM Arena n it comes in 4gb as well? How confusing….

      • If @dasher86 is right and this is for the 16GB/2GB version, which also has a worse camera module, then this is not really relevant. It's a much lower-specced phone. You can get the 16GB version for $345 or less some places and as a few others have quoted on various G4+ deals, the spec upgrade for the 32GB makes it a much better deal.

  • +1

Why do they have to name it like an LG G4…

  • Hard to choose this over the Redmi Note 3 Pro.

  • Motorola G4 Plus Black 32GB AU $379.80 after ebay 10% code (C10AUS) via Kogan - seems to be the cheapest non-EGlobal deal I can find?

    Anyone other suggestions?
