Depends if you think breaking down late at night maybe even when it is raining is a problem for you? Or if you have trouble changing flat tires.

Don't think those things never happen, they do, quite often, even with new cars.

If you think you can manage yourself somehow or have someone to help you, then don't join.

  • A possible way to reduce membership fees…

Find an elderly relative or family friend who is a long term member (check they have reduced membership fee & better benefits) but giving up driving. Agree to take over their payments, still in their name. That means they can still receive some non-driving membership benefits & magazine, but you should be covered.

Have done that for a few years with RACQ in Queensland, paying only half of annual fee I would have to pay & no joining fee, with my car listed on membership 😯

Just check membership costs, benefits, & conditions first, as these vary by organisation. I have had no difficulties receiving roadside assistance or other services.

  • NRMA IS NSW nothing mentioned in title

    • Does that include ACT?

  • Anyone know if it's specific to car or is it for any car you drive.

Well according to the site $165 ($110 roadside + $55 one off fee) for classic care.

anyone know how much roughly for a normal Sedan?

      Yes, the NRMA.

  • I called nrma once asking if I should join. I asked if I am not a member and get an issue can I still call nrma and they said they will come regardless if you are member or not.

The only difference is that I will need to pay for the membership that time on the spot. The lady could not tell me any benefit why I should sign up over the phone or sign up once I have a break down.

I might have gotten wrong info, anyone here who could enlighten me?-) Like might we get discounted pricing or quicker call out time?

    • +1

I think if you make a call out within 48 hours of joining there's a $139 on the road join n go fee, plus the $55 joining fee plus membership fee

      • Thanks! Makes sense now :)
